unfortunately UM does not offer online learning..so pls attend class

UM classes is good but how to attend if there are work location and time restrictions ?
the day UM considers online MBA, their ratings and rankings will improve further!

it is highly prestigious for sure and it would set you back about RM300k all in all.

This is not including your lost income for the duration of study.

The positive is you would probably get a job paying about RM25-40k immediately upon graduating - can you please confirm this specific point from your friends who studied there? It is pointless if they enjoyed their learning experience to not see this kind of salary especially if they paid for the MBA through their own pockets.

It is worth mentioning that the ASB MBA will never be fully online due to its quality control and ranking requirements.

i am sorry that i don't think i am able to get you the answers on the salary because they run their own businesses. and i think my friends got scholarship from ASB to study MBA.

i think it is fair to assume their per month earnings within that range or slightly more especially if they have just only just started their own business.

of course in current times their earnings could be at best 0 to 10k/month or 0 to -ve at the worst, in other words it is not a good time to own or run a business!

I am just registered for MBA in OUM - fully online as the fees is around 30k for the whole course. Wish me luck, still very new in this.

Hi, it has been a year since your enrollment. Hope everything goes smooth there.

Yea, I am exploring on MBA and one of the U I am comparing is OUM. How do you feel so far? Wondering how does this U different from WOU?

Thanks

Nottingham vs Strathclyde MBA in Malaysia?

Anyone was in this dilemma before ? Can provide some input? Thank you.

Exactly my dilemma as well (and I haven't been able to make up my mind yet). What i found (pros for each below):

Strathclyde:
- MBA program higher ranked, but University itself is not as prestigious as Nottingham.
- Triple crown accreditation (vs double crown for Nottingham)

Nottingham:
- More prestigious a University
- Cost is slightly cheaper than Strathclyde.
- It has a proper University campus (compared to Strathclyde which is operated by a private company occupying an office block in PJ)

Other notes (pros/cons are depending on individual preference):
- Nottingham part time classes are on weekdays in the evening. Strathclyde is over the weekends.
- Nottingham allows for specializations (compared with Strathclyde which is only General MBA)

Any forumers with other inputs?

Hi,

Thank you for the detailed input.

i've decided to proceed with Strathclyde as its business school and MBA are ranked higher than Nottingham, though Nottingham University as a whole ranked way higher.

Moreover, classes over the weekend is more day job friendly as compared to weekday classes sweat.gif imagine u need to rush after work and then keep your self focused until 8 or 9pm after a long day at work. mega_shok.gif

I hope i've made the best decision and wont regret it later... biggrin.gif

Hopefully, you'll be able to make up your mind soon. smile.gif

Good luck.

Quality wise quite ok I think. But I ruled it out because it is in Sunway which is too far away for me (compared to Nottingham in KL and Strathclyde in PJ).

Hi all, still very new to lowyat and this is my first post. I'm fresh grad with bachelor degree in psychology, and now work as a HR. Pursuing a master degree is always on my bucket list.

I like Sunway MBA, but the cost is around 70k which is too expensive and my second choice is KDU MBA. Do u guys have any idea on KDU MBA? (It seems like the name had change to OUW)

For your information, the MBA gt specialize in enterprise risk management and financial planning (while it doesn't seems like relate to HR)

Hi, usually I did a lot of survey with regards of UOW Malaysia KDU MBA in ERM too. There are few points really attracted me to enrol their MBA programme in next year September intake, first of all definitely is because of the specialisations track since this university is the only one who offered ERM specialisation. Secondly, they are granted some exemptions by several professional bodies such as ierp and CIMA for further development. I do compared the papers exempted in CIMA among some other universities in Malaysia through CIMA exemption database, UOW Malaysia KDU is one of the exempted majority papers and only left three strategic papers to obtain the professional title. Thirdly, this programme does recognised by Australia higher education qualification too. One of the reason they are still offering in an affordable price might because of UOW just entered into Malaysia education market, I assumed in a few years time, they might increase their tuition fees in accordance to marking their quality brand. HR wise, if not mistaken I think there are some subjects quite relevent to this field such as HR Management and Organisational Behavior (If no wrong) as one of the elective course.

I believe this programme is going to cover some other field subjects too such as some sort of accounting, economic etc. So overall it is benefit regardless in what field of studies. Hope you are making a right decision! Cheers!

Hi, would like to ask if anyone knows. Is UM MBA good? Anyone did it before? Any comments?

Besides, I have CPA Aus and CIMA UK certs, do you think it is still necessary to do MBA? And will I get any exemptions? Of course I will inquire with UM too.

Thank you!
