MBA does not guarantee a promotion or pay rise. You need to really think why you want an MBA.

If I can make a choice again, I will not go for MBA but rather professional qualification.

If you really make up your mind to proceed with MBA, choose the school wisely and get to know their Lecturer teaching method and qualification.  I am studying now in a local Uni and in my 3rd semester now and so far finished about 10 subjects. Out of 10 lecturers, only 3 are really keep up to business environment changes and know what they are teaching and you can really apply what they tot into real practical world.

In addition, dealing with the Uni admin staff is another headache and challenging part and their way of doing things is just like typical government agencies.

The way my Uni conduct the MBA is nothing difference from undergraduate, I am not sure about others but I would encourage you choose the Uni wisely before jumping into decision.

hi you brought me to write directly because your thoughts are exactly my question.

Which professional qualification would you recommend someone to apply operational management and business improvement because this is the main reason for my thinking of doing MBA
Maybe PMP or CSM? I want as much as possible your real life input because i plan to apply job in malaysia soon as my work mostly experience gained outside MY

Thank you so much for your time and your honest thoughts

Hi - is anyone interested to buy GMAT and admissions prep material? I scored 710 (90th percentile) on the test last year and got admitted to a top M7 b-school in the US.

I'm letting the following books go:

- 2018 GMAT Official Guide + Quant Review and Verbal Review books
- Manhattan Guide books (all Quant and Verbal books + Roadmap)
- Powerscore Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension

- MBA Game Plan
- MBA Admissions Guide

All books are unmarked and in good condition. The Manhattan books includes online access to papers and quizzes too. Giving away the whole bundle for an attractive price. PM me if interested and I can share more.

good going! but still hail both the windy city schools tongue.gif

to answer others on this thread ..the university name matters a lot in your real VALUE.
if just want paper, then choose the cheapest and fastest

but if want to get best salary and job, in MY currently ASB is head and shoulders above the rest. Guarantee to get a RM20-35k after finishing your MBA from here. Need to invest about RM250k and 1.5years time

To my current understanding, most of our postgraduate courses are not overly competitive. As long as you meet the minimum qualification, it is likely you will get admitted. There are many factors to it, e.g. enrollment target, revenue generation.

ah yes i understand - thank you for sharing

have you done or know anyone who has either done or who is currently enrolled at UM for MBA or other masters studies?

it would be good to have their perspective too, perhaps?

Would be nice to share specifically your online MBA program, for workers who cannot spare even weekends due to familial commitments etc
I for one am interested in the shortest and online delivery program, price is not really important as the convenience would far outweigh the price.

has anyone here mentioned about ASB? The Asia School of Business, with the collaboration between Bank Negara Malaysia and MIT Sloan School of Management.

i am not sure how is their teaching style now due to the pandemic, but i know the lecturers r from MIT.

there r some scholarships but i am now not sure how lucrative they are. i remember they were giving like full scholarship at the beginning of their establishment.

you all can have a look at the site: https://asb.edu.my/

*i am not promoting this faculty in any ways. it's just i have acquaintances studied here and they seem to enjoy their experience in the school.
*
it is highly prestigious for sure and it would set you back about RM300k all in all.

This is not including your lost income for the duration of study.

The positive is you would probably get a job paying about RM25-40k immediately upon graduating - can you please confirm this specific point from your friends who studied there? It is pointless if they enjoyed their learning experience to not see this kind of salary especially if they paid for the MBA through their own pockets.

It is worth mentioning that the ASB MBA will never be fully online due to its quality control and ranking requirements.

MMU EMBA is fully online learning

unfortunately ranking wise is also important

to be honest in current times with people losing jobs, everyone will be doing MBA so doing it from prestigious or well known uni is important like UM

UM classes is good but how to attend if there are work location and time restrictions ?
the day UM considers online MBA, their ratings and rankings will improve further!

i am sorry that i don't think i am able to get you the answers on the salary because they run their own businesses. and i think my friends got scholarship from ASB to study MBA.
*
i think it is fair to assume their per month earnings within that range or slightly more especially if they have just only just started their own business.

of course in current times their earnings could be at best 0 to 10k/month or 0 to -ve at the worst, in other words it is not a good time to own or run a business!
