Then why do I have so many problems with my RX200? Joyetech chip. Jumps out of TC mode daily. Temp protect issues cos its wrongly calibrated. Affected by room temp. Its underfiring a lot in TC mode. Vaped it at 600F last night. Compared to a Yihi chip its underfiring by 150F.

I'll take Yihi over Joyetech anytime. Even the chip on the SXK mods is better.

guys. my father recently changed from smoking to vaping, what would be a good gift for him on a budget. he has an ipv4s or something and he likes root beer taste

What's he's using now? MOV Double Barrel is the best root beer ejuice to date, IMO. US juice, so might be harder to find but it has that ye olde root beer taste to is. Not that fake F&N shit.

What nekkidgramma means is: generally speaking there's 2 kinds of root beer. One is the traditional kind of root beer and the other is a very sweet and vanilla-ey kind of cream soda/ice cream float-ish flavor (eg A&W's sasparilla). You'll have to determine which type he likes first.

There's a list of PG/VG/flavor etc suppliers on post#1 of this thread. Try writing in to them...am sure they could recommend you the necessary ingredients for a decent root beer.

rather than purchasing a flavour that he might like or dislike
i would suggest you buy accessories
like coilling set ( but does your dad DIY his coil?? ) 

Muji cotton and yes, it's a must have for vapers. Muji outlet nationwide. Make sure to grab only the unbleached ones, not the pearly white ones. So what's kinda of hardware is he's using? The tank, mod, yada yada. Well I think he's okay with the juices then, andyng38 said it best. There are 2 kind of root beer, sassafras and wintergreen. The old A&W uses sassafras and I think MOV too uses them in their juice. Taste aside, I'd think the best thing you could give him is a nice bottle of juices. For a gift why not splurge a lil bit and grab some US juices? Word of the wise, a small bottle could cost you RM 100 depending on said ejuices.

What version is your D2? V3.0? Try it in TC mode at 500F. See how hot it is. At 600F in the RX its not hot - thats because its under firing.
As for the "Temp protect" issues, I cooled the atty in aircon room before setting the resistance in the RX. I read on Joyetech forum that Evic Mini users were cooling their attys in the fridge to overcome temp protect issues.

well lets hope the firmware can fix the issues...i think maybe, just maybe some of the issues are not experienced by the majority thats y they don address or patch it.
the best i think is still fire the same atty with same setup on 2 different devices will tell u a more accurate feel haha.
i havent touch tc mode for a long time d ever since i got the rx, power mode would do jz fine for me hehe

I was fully on Kanthal. I bought the RX to play with for a while, then sell it. That why I tested all the modes in it. Can't sell it if its not fully functioning.

The D2 V2.0 had issues with TC as well. If resistance was set at normal room temp then you go to a cold room, you'd get a burnt taste the first puff or two till it warmed up. It was also under firing. The V3.0 fixed it.
Even then the D2 V2.0 functions better than my RX.

Problem with RX calibration. It hits "Temp Protect" and stops firing. Sometimes instantly when you fire it. So I cool the atty below room temperature then lock the resistance in.
