The Derringer's successor is the Snubnose rda; minimal parts, easy to build 3 post 4 hole deck and IMO it produces more accurate middle and top notes. Just ordered 2 more tobeco clones yesterday, using them @ work.

It's good to have an exit strategy.

Try alternating 6mg and 3mg at first.
Then when u feel comfy with it, go on 3mg only.

If you DIY yr own juice, u can have a few more steps before quitting vaping completely:
Alternate 3mg and 1.5mg, then go on 1.5mg only
Alternate 1,5 and zero nic, then go on zero nic only
Stop vaping completely.

If u don't DIY or can't get ahold of 1.5mg juice, then just try alternating 3mg and zero nic juices, then go on zero nic only and eventually stop.

Everyone's different, but it's good to find the suitable gradual way to stop, and hopefully the change will be permanent.

Kindly post photos of the damaged areas. If u also have photos of the damage when u first received the unit, do post them as well. It could help potential buyers decide if they want that mod or not.

Thanks for the photos. The paint really seems to be a bit on the thin and weak side. Looks like a silicone sleeve is a necessity with this mod. Now I'm wondering if a coat of plastidip would work on it.

Screw the velocity to a mod or heat sink, and pull on the topcap...HARD! The 2 o-rings at the base section are very grippy.

Maybe u got a better version where the paint is thicker and doesn't come off so easily? Do let us know if that's the case.

Taste will vary from person to person. The Snubnose works for me @ 3mm 8 wraps nichrome coils, AFC open at 50%. Minimal parts, easy to build and reproduces mid and top notes accurately when the juice is fired at a suitable wattage.

If u knew how many snubbies I actually use daily, u'd think me mad...so let's leave it at 3

If you want to compare the snubnose to derringer, you'll have to ask yourself what u prefer:

3 posts with 4 holes or 3 posts with 3 holes?
Cyclops AFC with open flow and more positioning options, or cyclops AFC with 3 restrictive holes?

It all depends on what u r looking for. I've always preferred the snubbie because of the AFC. And if you had to rebuild a bunch of them daily, you'd appreciate the 4 holes for a less-fiddly time. But that's just me. IMO flavor quality between the two are almost the same. The difference in flavor is not as pronounced as say, between the Mad Hatter and Mad Hatter mini.

Tobeco clones are very cheep...not much of a risk to buy one of each model and compare for yourself.

Unfortunately the concept of "work for it" may be totally foreign and incomprehensible to some quarters. It may even be construed as an attack on the sanctity of certain "rights", and an affront to the dignity and superiority of the powers-that-be.

At this juncture, I strongly feel the need to display an emoticon/smiley which has the middle digit of one hand extended in salute to them, but this forum seems to sadly lack that feature.

There are no hard and fast rules. When some flavors are bumped up above a certain percentage, you may actually get LESS of that flavor.

Some flavors need a bit more time to "bloom"...so it may just be the matter of letting the juice steep a few days more, and that 'weak' flavor may become more pronounced.

Depending on the flavor that is giving u a problem, you may or may not have to change any percentages of the original flavorings at all.
Eg Lets say your apple pie flavor needs a bit of boosting, just add on a bit of fuji apple flavor.
Sometimes, a combo of 2 apple pie flavorings from 2 different manufacturers can have very good results. The percentage of apple pie flavoring remains the same, but that percentage is made up of 2 similar flavorings. I've had good results with mixing several flavors that way.

Some flavors were never meant to be very distinct and pronounced, and work better as a "background" flavor.
Some flavors (esp fruity ones) can be made to "pop" more with the addition of a bit of citric acid.
Often ignored is a touch of saline solution which can help bakery flavors a lot, and a touch of apple cider vinegar can help tame some harshness so that other flavors can appear more distinct.

I reverted to nichrome months ago and it feels like 2010 again ....the short stint with iron-tasting kanthal was bleah. 3mm diameter 8 wraps does the trick for me most of the time.

TY Sorry that particular juice is not my property. My bosses have their own group of ppl to taste test. It's a bit of a complicated biz arrangement between me and them.

I hope you're not the guy in a recent post who was contemplating using 22% apple pie flavor Too high a % can cause your taste buds to overload n shut down. Be patient and wait...don't toss yr juice just yet. Creamy custards can take 3 weeks, and tobacco flavors even more time. To speed up yr DIY, try putting the juice in a heat-resistant container and letting it sit in a crock pot @ 55-60C for 2 hrs, then taste after it's cooled down and left overnight. Repeat the next day if necessary. Want it even faster and better? Look into homogenizing equipment...they're very expensive though. But despite fancy gear, natural ageing is still needed. As per the MSDS of the ingredients, my stuff is diacetyl-free...it's up to the bosses if they wanna make that claim and get it lab-tested or not.

That juice in particular is unfortunately not my property as it was developed using other people's resources and lab equipment (part of the biz arrangement), so I can't sell or give it away..sorry! It's gonna be taste-tested @ 3PM today. If approved, there'll be 9 recipes of mine in total that they'll produce.

However the gudang garam surya flavor is 100% all mine, developed in my kitchen ...will be working on the 24th version this week once certain ingredients arrive. I've had requests from my motley crew of kretek puffers for a slightly heavier tobacco blend. I think they're just wanting the taste of real tobacco burning (and that's tough, if not impossible to recreate in a flavor), but I'll do what I can.

Ty I'm not into selling juices per se...more into developing recipes.

In all honesty, very heavy gunk. You'll have to clean/dry burn yr coils and rewick after every four to five 5ml tankfulls (my own experience, confirmed by my kretek-smoking test-vapers too). I've been working hard to bring the gunk levels down...but I may not succeed. Need to have that cloying full-blown kretek sauce flavor, the heavy tobacco blends and that touch of sweetness aftertaste otherwise it just won't be tasting close to a Surya. This week I'll be making 2 more versions, and that is it, gunk or no gunk. I've pitched the idea of a milder kretek like LA Lights which is kinder to coils, but they are adamant on having full flavor only.

One of the bosses is leaving for a marketing trip at the end of this week, and will be promoting my current version of Surya along with a few of my other recipes. If all goes well, they should be in stores sometime in Jan '16. At this time I have no idea what names will be used, or even what the label will look like but once things are finalized I will post photos along with info on where to buy in West Malaysia (am assuming most of u guys are from there). Should things not go very well, I have the right to withdraw my Surya recipe...and then maybe I'll market it on a smaller scale myself, but I have an innate feeling it'll not come to that. I'm an ex-smoker and for years I puffed on bentoel biru & surya, so I'm very familiar with all their nuances. At the risk of sounding boastful, nothing else on the market comes close to the aroma, mouth-feel, flavor and satisfaction factors of my recipe, except a real kretek.
