I thought OCBC 4.5% for 12 months had just ended on 31st December, 2015.
Has this offer been extended?

QUOTE(kit2 @ Jan 2 2016, 02:07 PM)
this is untrue. i have placed fd many times using funds from e-account and didn't get any charges.

just like maybank's m2u savers, the main purpose of e-account is to encourage customers to use electronic forms of banking as much as possible. But there are times when counter visits are unavoidable, so otc charges should be waived.

for example, m2u savers allows withdrawal over the counter if the sum is more than rm5000. this is because the max limit for atm withdrawal is rm5000. i have withdrawn more than rm5000 from my m2u savers at lebuh ampang and wisma genting. one day i tried to withdraw rm6000 from the dbkl branch, and the staff insisted i pay fees. i tried to show her the the maybank website on my phone, but she refused to read or listen, and arrogantly said "any withdrawal from m2u, you pay!".

ditto for some HL Mach staffs insisting on cheque for promo FD placement even though HL website clearly states fund transfer is permitted.

inexperienced bank staffs would often misread the rules set up by their bank and create their own rules.

Thanks for sharing. I take that your FD placements are over the counter using funds from your e-account.
Since you did not get any charges on your e-account, it's appear that the withdrawal debit from your e-account for purpose of FD placement is not levied the OTC charges of RM5.30.

Right now, I consider HLB FD 4.5% pa for 6 months tenure with monthly interest payment to be the best promotion in town. Minimum placement amount is 10K.

Yea, so far this is the best I heard

The limit is based on your imagination and expectation.tongue.gif
One condition:
Teach your kids the value of money. Never pamper them. A rich kid will never understand the value of money and will lose respect for it as he/she thinks my father is rich. I have unlimited money. They will get involved in smoking, drinking, vaping useless activity wasting away on unhealthy lifestyle (too much money until they don't know where to spend)

Many of my friends end of the month no money - drinking in pub, karaoke, vaping, buying designer clothes/shoes every month, must eat at grand/high class places.

Asked them why don't you save? Aiyaa, for what want to save? When studying must enjoy life to the max. Lots of time to save later on. What more when adult time.

Three indicator I used for myself :
1)The money must be able to buy a Malaysian car fully in cash while you are still a student which means one is good (I did not buy any car)
2) Able to put away 50% of what you get every month (done)
3) Able to survive on dividends/interest (otw)

Sorry for being out of topic.

Can anyone use OCBC online website to perform IBFT?

When I select 'Transfer Now', there is no option for me to select IBFT.

Well, since the 4% interest rate per annum for OCBC e-SmartSavers expires today, I plan to use IBFT to transfer all my fund today.

If IBFT is unavailable, using IBG will not be useful, since it is only effective next Monday.  sad.gif

Appreciate any advice from experts here. smile.gif
