Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask this. If I want to move the location of my Unifi router and modem, is it advisable to call TMnet directly and hire their contractor? Don't need to rewire because the fiber cable in my house is not inside the wall, so can just remove the clips and line up the cable where I want to place the equipment.

The reason is that I live in a terrace house and the neighbor's bathroom on the other side of the wall is leaking, causing water to seep into my house through said wall. Now the water is dropping down to the lower floor from the ceiling, and right onto where I put my Unifi Equipment. Don't know if or when the neighbor will be fixing this problem, so I want to at least protect my internet access for now.
*
Yes no problem, as long the cable is long enough then you can place it however you want. Just be careful not to damage the cable and you should be fine.

Yes the cable is long enough for where I want to place it, but I have no experience with DIY work, especially with fragile fiber cable, which is why I want to know if TM contractor can help me move it.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that my Unifi equipment is placed on an elevated platform made exclusively for it that is screwed into the wall, which also needs to be moved to the new location.

Don't worry, it's not that fragile. Maintain a min 2in turn radius. Actually 1in also can if there's no load on the cable but 1in radius looks scary. And try not to step on it.

Ever wondered how congested 2.4GHz WiFi is? Here's a spectral scan of the frequencies around 2.4Ghz in my house. A spectral scan or even AP scan is a good way to find the least dirty channel to use.

The big red part is when I start a speedtest on my phone. The Maxis LTE channel is steady and strong. Quite worrying as I'm about 100m from the telco tower. The blue stuff you see outside of the wifi channels is probably from regular devices like microwave ovens, TVs, etc...

Test done on a Mikrotik RB2011UiAS.

Nope, it's not, it's regarding con current connection.

Yes, using Mikrotik RB2011UAS. Ubiquiti also has this feature, it's called Airview. Most consumer routers won't have this feature but should be able to do an AP scan which is similar but limited to 802.11 APs.

I'm very sorry, I think my original post and reply were both misunderstood and I was not clear enough. I have no experience in DIY and I -don't- want to DIY and move the cable myself (don't want to risk breaking the fiber cable at all), so my original question was: can TM contractors help me move the cable if I call TM directly? Or do they only do installations?

If they can't help me move the cable, will I have to call a third-party contractor?

I'm not looking to try to move it myself at all. It's out of the question.

No idea, ask TM. Don't see why not.

Or do you have the mobile number of the original TM installer? Give him a call and ask him to do it for you. Should be cheaper than calling TM to do it officially. I'm sure they can. Money masuk his pocket better than to pay TM.

The original installer was also from TM. They came in a TMNet van. So I'm not sure how that works.

Will try to call them then. Thanks.

if you want to pay to tm, give them a call... normally they will charge minimum is rm150...

depend on your fiber wall socket, if you want to move that, need to call tm or contractor... if the fws at same location, only move ONU/BTU, it just easy to pull the fiber cable(i think the cable is around 3 or 5m) or you can buy single core fiber cable like 10 meter and lay down until your preferred place and make sure not reachable by anyone(like hiding it the cable)...

you must choose wisely else need to fork some money for minor job...

p/s: before this my fiber line broken at the fws... fix it by myself with normal tool like sharp knife(do splicing) and trial and error in order to save the money...hahaha

TM installers are almost always contractors and they're trained and have the necessary equipment so it's a safe bet. If you decide to use a 3rd party contractor, at the very least, ensure that they have an optical power meter with them. Just check that the signals are the same before and after they move the cable less they screw something up.
