to all guru, i want to ask noob question here coz im noob.. let say my rig power needed is 528W or something like that.. and my PSU power is 700W.. i just want to know.. will the PSU will give me 528W the exact power accurately?not some extra 650 or above, i mean from power saving view.. my friend told me that if my rig power needed is 528W, and i buy PSU over than my rig needed, let say 700W.. the electric bill will read as 700W? please explain

you can buy power tester kit to run the test.

it will only draw the power you need, so no worry.
however, it depends on the psu efficiency, high = better because if you have lower power efficiency psu, then your billing will be higher, in the condition you take same power consumption pc to compare.

Look for those PSU are "truly" certified as '80PLUS" certified. But have to make sure its really "true certfied' (coz some lousy brand just simply stick the sticker, can check the info from 80PLUS association website for real info).

Some really good one PSU even provide "EXCEEDED the min" 80PLUs standard , like ENERMAX PRO 82+ model is more than 80PLUS standard. cool2.gif

well..may i noe what gfx card u using? if u read based on reviews, what they review most of the time in their result, is the total power consumption..is not the card alone...

First look at the price... a typical 400W+ "true power" PSU costs at around RM150 or more. Compare this price with those typical "400W+" cap ayam PSUs which usually costs around RM50 or lower. See the difference? wink.gif

Looking at the box tells little usually (some cap ayam even comes with box too), but look for its power ratings such as how much current it can supply on its rails. Check the +12V rail especially because nowadays most of the power is taken from there. smile.gif

Example: AcBel 470W (real power 420W)
Attached Image

For "true power" typically we look for known brands like AcBel, Antec, CoolerMaster, Corsair, Delta, Enermax, Enlight, Fortron, HEC, PC Power Cooling, Silverstone, Tagan, OCZ, etc.. Some PSU are "true wattage" (can supply real/continuous power at its rated wattage), while some others are rated by their peak/maximum power. Those rated by their peak/maximum power typically can supply real/continuous power close to its rated wattage. icon_rolleyes.gif

Cap ayam: PowerLogic Magnum "450W" (real power 230W only)
Attached Image

True wattage: Enlight 420W (High Power OEM)
Attached Image picture of my old (retired) PSU.. biggrin.gif

Notice the big difference in current (A) rating on the rails between cap ayam PSU and the true wattage PSU? rolleyes.gif

Note: Typically cap ayam PSUs can only supply about HALF of its rated wattage. See How Much Power Can a Generic 500 W Power Supply Really Deliver?

thats mean on +12V, if 18A ....then it must be true power?
