yup, iinm all those 22 inchers come frm chi mei optoelectronics, actually pix quality not bad at all...too bad not high def
*
Yup they aren't full HD yet because their native resolution aren't 1080p but they do are higher than 720p. Viewsonic actually published their VX2235wm as the 22" HD LCD Monitor on their box.

I would have to agree with you that ChiMei panels are quite good for the price you're paying.

Well agreed. 720i/p are considered lower end of HD. Thats why we see some brands displaying 1080p as full/true HD. Anyway it doesn't mean anything if you still have a small screen. But I do have to say that 720 is quite good already compared to the DVD content at 480i/p which is considered standard definition.

Hey there,

6bit + FRC is actually how many colors the panel can reproduce. Usually you see 6bit common panels with the ability to only produce 16.2milion colors which isn't enough for really accurate color reproduction. 8bit panels are much better at this job that could display more than 16.7milion colors. However, 8bit panels could be a little slower in the pixel response when compared to a 6bit panel.

So what the engineers did is to add dithering to a 6bit panel to 'add' or 'artificially' create more colors just like a 8bit panel. Of course it is still cannot be compared to a real 8bit panel but modern dithering techniques have come a long way so they are quite close but still have room for improvement.

So 6bit + FRC is something like a 6+2bit panel in which the first number 6 is the real specification while the second one is meant for dithering accuracy.

Dear all,

I'm planning on getting the Dell 24" WS.

Anything that i should be aware of regarding the LCD?

What Rev 06A or something lidat that u guys are talking about eh?

If the port is mentioned as DVI-D (Dual Link), means have to connect TWO DVI connectors to my graphics card then only can operate...right?

Thank you for all your feedback =)

What he meant is this. Usually a LCD monitor that supports VGA and DVI-D segregate the them in two input channels. One for VGA and the other for DVI-D. So all you need to do is just select the correct channel on the LCD itself. Usually it is accessible by a button or via the on-screen menu. Please check your manual for the instructions.

If you have already selected the correct channel and still no picture is displayed, the you have to check the driver settings. Common graphic cards support duo display via a VGA analog output and a DVI-I output. Check your graphic settings which output port it is using. This is usually auto-detected at start-up but some issues could prevent it from happening. If selecting the correct output isn't helping, then try upgrading the display driver.
