Japan: Another 17k Last Week - WorldWide: Over 9mln?
QUOTE
>> The new M-Create numbers are in for the week of December 18-24.
The Xbox 360 sold 17213 units in Japan (45 more than a week earlier). Blue Dragon is already out of the Top-50 software sales, but a new Xbox 360 title entered the list on the 28th place: Capcom's Lost Planet.

The Sony PS3 sold 76882 units (70942 last week), the Nintendo Wii sold 279277 units (108237 last week) and the Xbox360 is beaten by the PS2 again with its 46209 units sold (37730 last week).
If my calculations are right this bring the installment base of the Xbox 360 to ~247.2k, PS3 to ~385.7k and Wii to ~800.5k in Japan.

On a WorldWide scale it's much harder to get numbers. However, we'll share the nexgenwars.com and vgcharts.org with you.
These numbers are only ESTIMATES and in no way official. The difference between the 2 tracking sites indicates the error margin is probably pretty large ...
Xbox 360: 9.23m (nexgenwars.com) | 7.74m (vgcharts.org)
PS3: 0.82m (nexgenwars.com) | 1.18m (vgcharts.org)
Wii: 2.03m (nexgenwars.com) | 3.19m (vgcharts.org)
17k still much better than before this like 1k per week. guess Jap also digg shooting games coz Lost Planet is at #28. but surprised that Blue Dragon is already out of top 50.

Feb still a long time, maybe you should get single player game that will takes more than 50 hours to complete, like Oblivion and Enchant Arm. maybe can play R6V split screen with your fiancee for the achievement. laugh.gif

Your wife-to-be is cool. Is it too late to give her a WII/PS3 in return? That would be a good excuse to have more than 1 console in the house. tongue.gif

Lol.

She is already somewhat Anti-Sony, so she doesn't want a PS3, but she likes the Wii.

Basically I'm definitely getting the Wii when it launches so it's just a matter of time, and I have been warned against getting her anything in return....

Hello people. I need your opinion on the feasibility of getting the 360 HD DVD drive. My friend's currently in Hong Kong shopping. Along with the copy of Blue Dragon I asked him to buy, I was also interested to get the HD DVD drive. But then, I hesitated. Too many what-ifs.

What if HD DVD will integrate region locking? What if Bluray wins the next-gen format war? What if ALL the major studios abandon HD DVD? Most importantly at this point, at least, is what can HD DVD offer that DVD can't? I have already amassed a huge collection of DVDs (Region 1 + Region 3), and I don't feel too hot about buying those titles again.

To a certain HD DVD drive owner, I want to know whether there's a HD DVD movie that you own that can be considered a showcase for the potential of HD DVD? That movie might just be the tie-breaker I need for getting the drive. Thanks in advance.

my 2c,

if u already have a decent HDTV. hd-dvd add-on offers good value for money. the hardware itself is subsidised, its catalog/library wont suddenly plummet to zero even if some studios go multi-format. the way i look at it, if u even watch & enjoy 20~30 movies in the next 2 years, the cost is well justified. no need to worry too much abt the future.

note: my 1st dvd player costed more than the hd-dvd add-on sweat.gif also no hdtv for me cry.gif cry.gif

I believe you have to see it to believe it. The clarity of the HD DVD compared to a DVD is noticeable. Especially when you have a good TV.

Also the extra features of the U control although not necessary, its a cool-to-have feature.

And your What Ifs generally can't be answered, so if you want to wait for a sure thing, it might be a long wait.

Reza,
Tadik dah rasa cemana lazatnyer GOW online kan? Muahahahaha, more red syrup for you later, aku nak gi settle house loan payment, and CC as well. Call me for any assistance, or any GOW training/sparring partner, malam ni we kick up the difficulty notch to overdrive!

Regarding the HD-DVD thing, if you're concerned of the what-ifs, better dont buy. I dont want to turn this thread into another HD-DVD vs Bluray wittiness-fanboy thread that made me close the other thread, but frankly speaking HD-DVD will not go down easily. The interactiveness and features alone will secure its place in the format war, not to mention the overzealous fanboys. Me? I'd rather savor both sides of the plate, not just one.

There is a reason of course, on why MS includes King Kong with the HD-DVD bundle in the States, this movie is the best title to use to showcase the power of HD-DVD. For reference titles on both Bluray and HD-DVD, head to www.avsforum.com Go to the forum sections appropirate to the HD-DVD/Bluray and look at their Tier system for ranking the different movie titles released. So far, for HD-DVD, King Kong and The Hulk are the top tiered reference titles to showcase HD-DVD. Tokyo Drift is the title to get to showcase U-Control on HD-DVD.

Bear in mind that the HD-DVD addon does not have optical out, meaning for serious audiophiles there will be audio quality degradation since it goes through the USB connection to the 360. Even the optical connection of 360p has limitation, only able to process Dolby Digital Plus at the moment, while waiting for MS to realse software patches to enable DTS processing for it. This reported by the forum member "amir" in the AVSforum, as this member is with MS.
