Mine NA at the 8th year now with 180k km. Last year having problem with alternator and catalytic converter problem. Other than that just normal wear and tear stuff.

There was suggestion to deactivate catalytic converter , since Malaysia is not concerned with omission standards. I'm sure it would involve reprogramming ECU,should only be done by Prince engine experienced workshop.

How did you solve your issue?

Hahaha......yeah long time didint hear from you! Thought you went on to other brand.

Thats good that Renautech can do it. I know William very well, if he says it can be done, then it's possible. Infact I'm waiting for MCO to be eased, will be visiting Renautech for some preventive maintenance.

I think it's possible to get Cat converter on Taobao. Its just that the search is not user friendly. If can read chinese will be easier.

haha.. i'm mostly in whatsapp group, diving most of the time

almost got a German brand back in end of 2018, the resale value of my 408 kept me away from getting it, and looking at current economy, my 408 saved me away from getting into a huge debt or worst deal in the worst time laugh.gif since there are so many unsold pre-reg/pre-owned unit, discount is bigger nowadays due to the economy, it's never too late and there's always be a better time to get one

as for my 408, mostly i won't sell, due to the resale value, plus i've submitted for "Engine oil consumption" complain right before my 7 years warranty end in Dec 2019, now still waiting for approval for new engine replacement, hopefully they approve

since my warranty end, was thinking of modding it, probably changing intake, removing catalytic converter & changing exhaust system, and remap

like dropping in 5mm at dip stick measurement for every 500km, they only carry out pressure test on each cylinder, nothing was told from them, only ask me from time to time to drop my car there for inspection/test, and my mileage now is just over 100k km

That is pretty heavy, its about 1liter/500km. I would have loved to know the causes!

Normal oil consumption for Prince engine is 1liter/5kkm.

Good you are getting a new engine!

are they designed that way? i know bmw and audi also had this issues, in which their sc give free oil top up within warranty period. 5k km on any bmw sure need to top up and that is not a M model car.

but on japan sedan 2.0, 2.4, 2.5 does not had this issues.

Its normal for internal combustion engines to consume oil during operation. The amount consumed depends on design. The Japs seem to done a pretty good job in this aspect as their engines seem to have low oil consumption.

Japs have kept to low hp & torque, while Contis have extracted as much power as they can on even small capacity engines. New Prince engine still 1.6liter produces way more power than most Jap 2.5 NA!

It will be interesting to note oil consumption on new trend of Jap engines. Japs are also jumpimg into this high hp/nm bandwagon!

M on BMW does not refer to engine spec. Its a chasis spec., Ms have better suspension setup for improved handling! Btw my Bimmer 630iMsport also seems to be low oil consumption. No topup needed, OCI 10K.

European cars are normally designed to run on higher operating engine temperature than Japanese car, maybe for better performance/efficiency, thus engine oil easier to evaporate & being consumed, how much oil being consumed is greatly depending on climate & driving style, but in conclusion, you can say that the engine is designed in such way, even in Audi's user manual, it ask owner to check/top up engine oil every 3000km, my friend's always bring along a bottle of engine oil in the boot for his Q5

for Honda's 1.5 turbo engine, the opposite way, the engine oil will become more laugh.gif due to petrol mixed into engine oil

first of all, what month is the car registered in 2013? As it might be still having a few months warranty left, cars in 2013 are entitled to enjoy 7 years manufacturer warranty

second, even if warranty expired, you can still check with careline or any service center for remaining recall items for your car, the Enhancement Program

worth or not, depending how you judge, i bought at 120k back in 2013, you can now buy at 15k, what else can you buy with 15k? can't even get a Myvi laugh.gif if you compare with 2013 Focus, Civic, Altis, Sylphy, Elantra, they easily cost twice or more

I'm afraid of the long wait for spare parts if car got trouble.
