It was always an uphill battle even if they had a one year headstart.

Nintendo and Sony are both Jap companies and we know how loyal they can be to all things Japan.

Technically, I believe the XBOX 360 battle only started proper this year with their announcement at TGS 2006 on the games coming out this year and next.

However, I doubt Microsoft will make a huge wave in Japan.

haha, thanks to another forumer pointing out this site. if the info is correct, only 4 months plus till the NTSC/J Asian Chinese release rclxm9.gif

i'm pretty sure it supports both Chi/Eng subtitles - similar to MS published Every Party & Ninety-Nine Nights. now the question is what voice track will it include? biggrin.gif

lets see what happens when main buta2 the jpn version.

new game -> playable! CG! playable! CG! realtime screen-tearing cutscene! CG! playable! checkpoint! game over! LoL restart fr checkpoint! CG! cutscenes! CG! playable!.......... haha

1st hr impressions

grafix - nice & clean, can enlarge text for 480i. imagine DQVIII + [eM] thumbup.gif
CG - done by ROBOT whose masterpieces usually grace capcom games
music - old skool rpg-tunes, the announcer voice is not that irritating
gameplay - so far very traditional rpg mechanics

at least the chi-eng manual is helpful enough to get started. somehow got stuck with the 1st boss cry.gif any special trick to defeating it, yjtay? me only lvl5, keep dying and kenot find antidote for poison sweat.gif gamefaqs, hurry up

stuck at this boss

jpn hints page

this is at the back of the box;

Blue Dragon Outsells Zelda: Twilight Princess in Japan
QUOTE
Ladies and gentlemen, you might want to sit down; flagship Xbox 360 RPG Blue Dragon has outsold the recently released Zelda: Twilight Princess - and all other Wii software - in Japan.

The latest Media Create Japanese chart puts the Mistwalker RPG at number four in the top selling titles in Japan for December 4 through 10, which has managed to shift a respectable 80,000 copies in the country giving it the number two all-time 360 sales record behind Dead or Alive 4.

Blue Dragon has received a considerable level of hype in Japan, largely thanks to the fanbase surrounding Dragon Ball Z artist Akira Toriyama who designed the characters in the game, and a special edition Japanese Blue Dragon 360 bundle which some Japanese retailers reported to have sold out of within minutes of opening pre-orders.

Interesting indeed.

Interesting indeed. Now if they had English subs, it will also be the all time selling RPG title over here tongue.gif

Hopefully Blue Dragon's sales wouldn't fall so significantly in the following weeks and it reaches MS target of 200K. It's a great game, but a bit on the easy side.

I am in the process of completing a user friendly Jap to English translation for commonly used items, spells and Shadow skills. If anyone of you all are interested just PM me your email and I will send it to you by this weekend. And in the process maybe help me proof read and improve it further biggrin.gif .

Hi guys, I'm super interested to get Blue Dragon soon. I suppose it's pretty much a given, but Blue Dragon NTSC/J is playable on an Asian set, yes? Cause I'm commiting myself to a game I may or may not finish. My nihon-go is at the competency level of a pre-schooler or something, but that won't stop me from enjoying a true next-gen RPG on a modern console. Can anyone help me confirm this?

Asian version A7J-00003

No info if the Asian version will have english/chinese subs. Seems stupid to me to sell Asian version without english/chinese subs.

the asian version has a slightly different cover (no cero logo) + chi/eng manual. both version should work on Asian NTSC/J set.

not waiting for the chi/eng subtitles version coming mar-may?

Believe it or not, I am a VERY impatient and stubborn person. My stubbornness has been known to cause me regret later. But... I'd rather be taking my chances on something this special (an Xbox title that Japanese people actually line up for? ZOMG!!) than to wait for the uncertain (English or Chinese subs?), since I can't read Chinese. All the same, thanks for the info!

haha, very good semangat u have there. i oso wonder how the development of the BD sequel is going on. i think cell-shading (ala DQVIII) makes toriyama designs more attractive & alive. kluke's big eyes + big head 3D model is somewhat kinda creepy, LoL

here's a family photo of BD and its obscure sony-sponsored brother icon_rolleyes.gif

Blue Dragon features invertible game cover, which mean you can flip the cover inside out to display another cover if you're bored with the default one.
