I'm so dry and dying for a good RPG game.
Hope this game won't be a flop. They beauty of getting US version is most likely game developer will have minor tweak and adjustment on thier final release base on public feedback. |

After some time with the game, I find it to be enjoyable, but filled with lots of CGI (maybe thats why it comes in 3 DVDs), but in a good way. Its really for those who like old school rpg, simple, classic turn base and cliche ridden. For Toriyama fans its a must get, the character design is great! One thing I find strange, its suppose to be fully in Japanese, yet there some minor things like names, or when you find gold, the text is in English.
Anyway hope it does really well in Japan. |

Well, I think a games with alot CGI cutscene is not a con. I have actually watch the gameplay movie and when you find an item it will show ITEM above the head of your character. I still dont think will get this games now until the real Asian english ver release.

You can download The first 10 minutes : Blue Dragon at Xboxyde.
It's like every few minutes there is one CG...or is it? Can't differentiate... |

It's still playable, but obviously you will miss out on the details of the story. The manual for the asian version has english translation of all the game menus, so I believe you should have no problem navigating through the menus. Soon, there should be some fan translations appearing on the web. So if you really can't wait until May, but have the patience to search for translations on the web, then go for it. So far I have no problems with the game. Only thing I find funny is checking through enemy droppings for gold or items. The CG seems to have been purposely tone down to match the game, so it appears seamless. Sometimes its really hard to differentiate the prerenderd cutscenes! "Blue Dragon shadows rise in Japan
As a promotional stunt for Blue Dragon, a display was set up in Shibuya where people could come face to face with the shadows of Blue Dragon. The wall expanded people shadows and projected Shu's dragon shadow to play with. The interactive wall drew a crowd like it was supposed to, spectators pulled out their camera phones to take pictures of the giant shadows." blog excerpt from: Spencer Yip Click HERE for one of the more interesting promotional stints for Blue Dragon which was uploaded to Youtube. On another note, Not only do some of the enemies look like 'unchi'(poop), but when you defeat simultaneous groups of enemies they sometimes leave behind droppings/treasure, its funny! Guess Toriyama still has a 'fetish' for poop! |

Though Blue Dragon had resulted to a slight increase in Xbox 360 sales, it was not enough as:
"After only a month on sale, Sony's PS3 has already overtaken Xbox 360 in the Japanese market to cement an early second place in the next-gen battle in the Far East." refer to this link for details. A whole year's head start in Japan, yet the Xbox 360 got overtaken by Wii and PS3 within a month. This does not bode well for Xbox360 in Japan. Oh by the way, am not sure whether this is true or not, but just found out that Blue Dragon's native resolution is 1080p. Its one of 3 titles in 1080p, the other, which is soon to be release, will be Lost Planet. No wonder Blue Dragon with its CGI spanned 3 discs and the graphics looked extra sharp and crisp when viewed at 1080p. |
