i heard the game should be 35 hrs if u dont get lost or level up highhigh to fight those secret powerful bosses. so 12 hrs sounds perfect.

i'm only 6 hrs, but game-overed many times liao. i need to understand the shadow categories & skills for more smooth sailing. do u know the bari-barrier spell? which logo/category isit?

iloveredapples, since u are new to the forums, may i remind u that u can EDIT ur posts, so u dont need to posts consecutively.

http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessag...&topic=32370967

bari-barrier lets u instantly kill weaker enemies when u encounter them w/o actually fighting in them. i think it'll be useful for disc2 onwards to avoid repetitive battles with weak enemies. but so far i just pass the undersea cave, i find the enemies are tough enough for me. the weaker ones will usually escape b4 u encounter them.

Just got my copy of Blue Dragon. I've played for around 5 hours, now I'm at Lago Village, just after Marumaro joined my party.

I love this game~ hands.gif

If any of you are interested in learning Jap for video game purposes, if you can already read Chinese then 6months-1year of Jap lessons is enough. You'll be able to understand most sentences because 90% of kanji is the exact same meaning as Chinese (different pronounciation so you won't know how it sounds like, but you will know what it means).

LoL. no need so hardcore ler. if a popular game is in jpn, most times they'll be FAQs or fanslations at gamefaqs or ign. if dont have gamefaq help, i wont recommend playing through a jrpg, sure will get stuck here & there.

p/s: me needed yjtay's repeated help for all the earlier bosses sweat.gif sweat.gif

^ got this fr bob forums. haha, asian version of jpn rpgs are always released in jpn language + eng/chi manuals for the past 10 yrs or so. ori gamers fr TWN & HK usually but gameguides just to play them. hardcore jrpgamers FTW!

p/s: i really enjoyed [eM] with eng. subtitles, if i were to play the pure jpn release with the help of a gamefaq, i doubt the game would be half as enjoyable tongue.gif

back to blue dragon. dint really rush the game, just taking my time sight-seeing and searching for gold at every nook & crany. disc 3 at 36 hrs but plenty of unrecorded time for constant game-overs. wonder why those short CGI clips take up so much space? i can see some codec artifacts on 480i!? sweat.gif

yjtay told me a lot of the secret/optional sidequests may be missable. most probably will have to replay the game after a full FAQ is released rclxms.gif

Just arrived at Gibral Castle, seen lots of Bulma-like NPC. Same character model, just different hair / dress color. Why don't they make different-looking NPC characters? If they want to reuse the same character model, at least don't put them in the same town / place. doh.gif

haha, that is what make a jrpg - a jrpg tongue.gif

all those npc villagers are repeated/reused templates/models
alot of monsters/beasts reuse the same template/model with different color schemes

there was also an obscure joke in the bard's tale where the bard had to search/talk to a bunch of clone/twin villagers tongue.gif tongue.gif

actually, looking back there was a groundbreaking jrpg with a million++ combinations pet/monster family tree called jade cocoon. pity, its successor jade cocoon 2 din't expand & evolve that formula. jrpgamers are traditionalists at heart, even if a new jrpg comes up with new & breathtaking innovations, it will be underrated & ignored and the developers go back to making more traditional/classical jrpgs.

back to blue dragon. game patch/update & DLC on jpn marketplace today. not sure what that DLC is or whether it'll work on the asian version rclxms.gif
