Suddenly planned to search for cameron in google, it direct me back to here.
Wish to go to rest there for couple of days. when is the peak period starting? I prefer to go during non peak, not much people.

My usual way, arrive in Ipoh at 8-9am, breakfast dim sum or old town (the actual one).
10-11am start to leave Ipoh, reach Brinchang/Tanah Rata around 12-1pm to check in.

On the way back, depends on you. If you leave Cameron in late morning, can plan detour for lunch in Ipoh also.
If leaving evening 4pm+ , can plan detour Ipoh, relax, then dinner before proceed straight highway home at night.
Assess based on your own driving skills/fatigue.

Generally no. From lowest to highest:
Ringlet -> Tanah Rata -> Brinchang
If you want highest/coldest, go rent a hut inside Sg. Palas tea farm (the ones high above, inside the hills, not along the main road into the cafe, and not the quarters parking there). Very basic hut type, and very cold, misty in the morning. May not have water heater also tongue.gif have to boil using kettle. Don't expect even 1-star hotel as comparison. But the view, 360 degrees of tea leaves in the early morning + mist + no other big buildings/cars/people ... thumbup.gif

I stayed at century pines resort twice de. Not too bad for the price. I would not recommend their deluxe room with garden which is basically situated on the ground floor with a private garden right outside ur room bcoz the garden is actually shared by other rooms next door, meaning u can walk to the room next door thru the garden and the only thing that stopped u from entering the room is the glass sliding door. Also, the deluxe room with garden is quite small compared to the normal deluxe room without garden on upper floors.

First visit I book the deluxe room facing the Padang field i.e. the main entrance of the hotel, the view is pretty good. Just ask them to give u a deluxe room on the 4th floor (highest floor if i remember correctly) facing the padang and "away" from the main road on the right side. But worried not if they dun hav any more room far away from the main road, coz the balcony's sliding glass door gives a very good sound proofing. And the deluxe room without garden are much more spacious than those with a garden.

But if the garden is really your thing, then pls request for the garden room facing the padang field, as the other row of garden rooms are facing the back of the hill (don't mistaken it as 'hill view' lol).

Also note that there is no free wifi in the room, the only free wifi zone is near the ground floor cafe. But if your room is right above the cafe, even on top floor, as long u position urself on the balcony area, u ll still find the free wifi signal with enough strength to do some casual surfing, jus make sure u dun drop ur phones/whatever pad/lappy to the cafe's roof top. (the cafe is an extension from the main building so u can see the roof of it from ur balcony if u stay in the upper floor deluxe room facing the padang/main entrance).

The free breakfast is pretty good except for the coffee n juices that taste rather average, and go for the rendang chicken if u like chicken lol. If u want to choose a table located just right outside the cafe, do it before 10am, as the tables there are facing east and the sunlight is pretty warm after 10:30, pretty uncomfortable i must say, best timing would be 7:30-10am, u can enjoy the cold breeze n fresh air very much!

In term of security, I dun see many guards around the hotel premise. There is no guard at the carpark area at nite hours, so u might want to avoid parking at the single level basement carpark right beneath the cafe extension.

I would pick this hotel again due to the scenic environment, the feel is good, very relaxing. If u wan some pic of the hotel do let me know. smile.gif

I went to Cameron Highland last weekend (3-4 Nov) and stayed in Tanah Rata. I have been like 3 times to Cameron Highland for the past 7 years.

I would not recommend Cameron Highland as a destination anymore because the following;

a)The weather in Cameron Highland is not as cool like last time. Its getting warmer. On last Saturday, it rained because its monsoon season but at the resort in Tanah Rata, warm air blew into the rooms although it had rained. The weather was noticeable more warmer than 5 years ago.

b)There is just too much jam over the weekend, all the express buses with the daytripper. On the way to Brinchang from Tanah Rata, there was a stretch of 1.5 hour jam just because all the express bus is cramming on the road crawling to Brinchang. Along the journey, the smell of smog and exhaust fumes are abundant, not fresh air anymore.

c)Just too many hotel being built here and there destroying the once pristine and beautiful scenery. No one is taking action and if there is, its just temporary halt of the construction work.

d)Too much development causing landslide during the heavy downpour for the past one week. Along the way to Brinchang, I get to see many landslide being patch up by JKR people.

e)Cameron Highland commercialization is just too much. You can see everywhere got shop selling strawberry pillow and strawberry souvenir, which is too much already. Then one day after the pasar malam in Brinchang(saturday night), rubbish is being strewn everywhere in Brinchang the next morning.

Really sakit mata punya place. mad.gif

Dun have to worry actually, if u r not satisfy with the room upon check-in u may ask for another room type eg. deluxe without garden. My second visit I've booked the deluxe garden room, was not satisfied with the room and requested a change to deluxe room w/o garden on the 4th floor facing the padang same as my first visit. smile.gif Only thing was they dun allow a refund of the difference in room rate (the deluxe w/o garden room rate was cheaper than with deluxe garden i paid for), reason being that I paid thru credit card the hotel mgmt said they can't do anything (wat a lame excuse lol).

Agree that Cameron has lost its peace and serenity. This is all due to the local council and government deciding to turn a blind eye to uncontrolled opening of forest, haphazard town planning. In short, all the parties concerned are sleeping on their jobs. Utterly disappointed with the way they are managing one of Malaysia's most revered highlands holiday spot.

I agree with you. True cool weather and clean air are no longer abundant in Cameron Highland, so whats the point of going there. Rubbish are everywhere and so many hotel that it starting to feel like its in KL. No more peace and serenity. vmad.gif

Don't feel sad because I stayed there over the weekend, warm air blew into my room after the rain. You can imagine how cool is Cameron Highland to have warm air blowing into your room after rain.

Save Cameron Highland before its too late

Yeah, what to do because it had happened already. We can only highlight. I am not the only one with this sentiment, I am sure many people been to Cameron Highland recently in this forum and would have their own story to tell.
