go by the new road.. Simpang Pulai...safer at least the corner you can see the car opposite you coming...Tapah like Chou Meng Shan!

Aiyoo, the Tapah road is safe lah! Nobody ask you to drift to the top. Taking Tapah way saves you 80 minutes driving and also lesser toll charges. If you are really scared of blind corners, honk your horn lorrr.! doh.gif

On;y for those worry about narrow but OK- Tapah road.. as earlier Chester mentioned.. using the bew road for thos from South is reaaly a waste of toll. fuel and most of the time esp weekend & Holiday, stuck in worst than Tapah jam. Those staying in Tanah Rata, better dun use Spg Pulai way during Holiday...You dunwan to be stuck in the similar jam as chester

My God! rclxub.gif 7 hours. Even if we drive to Raub and then to Cameron will not take that long. That road has beautiful views as well, in fact better than the view in Simpang Pulai/ Cameron route.

I'll be visiting Cameron Highlands on a 3D2N trip from 20th - 22nd Aug 2012 with my family members (total 6 of us). Any recommendation for a good, CLEAN apartment? Preferably below RM300 per night. Thanks.

Your planned date is really far ahead. I doubt if any apartment owners willing to get booked this early. Anyway, you can contact Ah Ling at 05-4915306 or 05-4911328. She has two units three bedroom apartments in Carnation Park in Tanah Rata. The last time I used her apartments, the fittings are still nice but your date is 7 months away. laugh.gif Cooking facilities are there, hot water and Astro but you have to bring your own card.

I think for strawberry ,no season here. Each time i visit Cameron, all time you can buy strawberry here ..not like durian, rambutan or other local fruit. If i not mistaken, some fruits imported from oversea and sell here. Do not know, which is Cameron product because mixed. Example Orange from China.. smile.gif

3) is there any tracking/waterfall around?
4) does my itinerary make sense coz i donno which place is near to which place.

Sometime not during Holiday and not wanting to stay overnite, If from KL, I use Tapah roa up for a steamboat lunch/early dinner at Tanah Rata b4 going down using Spg Pulai to Ipoh/North. And from North I will used Spg Pulai up jsut for the lunch/dinner b4 going down via Tapah haha.

On the question: I personannly prefer Boh plantation at Havu instead of Palas (Equatorial side). Much breathtaking view esp you climb up the summit of the telecom tower beside the rest stop. Furthermore..that Palas/Brinchang summit road..super narrow..certain area only can fit in 1.5car..so you hv to gostan abit or stop at any nearby opening..Lotsa ppl scretch the hillside trying to squeeze in that super narrow road...Others nice breathaking view: Bharat tea plantation-Habu, From the bus parking area on op of Strawberry park. and few more..Equatorial should be nice if not on the ugly farmers' houses & ugly plantation ~ Kea farm.

- Tracking- Try book the rafflesia tour..- Very nice. Once in lifetime close encounter wth rafflesia. Waterfall - Robinson fall easy track near Mardi of Tanah Rata - Anyway all the waterfall u can't swim wan bcos all polluted! Even Robinson fall, the water from Tanah Rata main drain!!

I think there are a few bumps that are high enough to scratch your bodykit after the guard house in the Boh Plantations in Sg.Palas. Since you are travelling on a Saturday means there are less lorries on the road as Saturday is their designated off day (for the vege collection, most but not all). If you ride a motobike in Cameron Highlands, it will be too chilly in the early mornings and also late evenings. I have seen those kapcai gangs riding up there and then take shelter in my car and don't want to get out. Seriously! It was drizzling at that time.

If sayang bodykit, just take a full day tour to see the Rafflesia and one of the stop if I'm not mistaken sure include Boh Tea factory wan. Not so expensive ~ RM90/head..To track that rafflesia also >1/2 day liao and is far from town..in Lojing - Gua Musang!

This is how the narrow 1.5 car wide road looks like:

All the road leading to the tea plantation is narrow but dun worry it not so bad. The people go there all are in holiday mood n they will give way to u n say hi plus smile at u. Friendly people unlike kl here.

I 1st time go up there n driving by myself. It is great driving experience for me taking the tapah road, palas road, brinchang hill road n the habu plantation road. Cool scenery, challenging narrow road all add up the fun driving up there.

If go BOH in sg palas, pls drive slowly, and even slower at corners. I've been there, and think that some r just driving too fast (+ lousy skill). Be careful. Some corners r just small enough for 2 cars to squeeze through. 1 mistake, down u go. I m not trying to scare u all, but careful is the key. It's great having your tea at the plantation smile.gif

Hi hi...
I just came back from Cameron yesterday...
Just wanna share the itinerary with you guys..

6th Feb 2012
8.30am - begin the journey
9.00am - breakfast at Subway NKVE
9.30am - let's go <3
12.30pm - Big Red Strawberry Farm, brinchang
3.00pm - check in @ Equatorial Hotel
3.30pm - lunch at strawberry view cafe & restaurant
4.10pm - rest
5.00pm - butterfly farm & bees farm (EE FENG GU FARM & TRADING)
7.00pm - went down to vegetable stall
7.30pm - dinner @ chee weng rest
9.00pm - back hotel and rest

7th Feb 2012
9.30am - wake up and get ready
10.30am - check out
10.45am - breakfast @ rajuu's strawberry farm
11.15am - market time
11.45am - up to boh tea plantation sad.gif bus stuck in the middle
12.00pm - water chestnut valley
12.15pm - rose valley@ tringkap
1.15pm - good bye Cameron smile.gif adios
5.30pm - reach home.. Yay!

My comment here is:
1. Get ready with the plastic bag on hand if you cant hold for a zig-zag road...seriously, i'm vomited during the journey up to Brinchang using the Tapah road. Please be careful and pay extra cautions on the road... In my mind after read all the comments here, i thought wanna take a video of the road and share it, but tooo bad that I kinda sick for the journey... huhuhu sad.gif
2. After the Ringlet, road quite smooth but reach Brinchang, not sure why the road is so jam but in a slow moving...very very slow... (maybe because public holiday) so we decided to stop at the strawberry farm @ Big Red Strawberry Farm - was thought that I may be lucky to pick those small red juicy sweet and sour strawberry but so disappointed, there is no strawberry to pluck... as not many strawberry at that time.. sad.gif
Since this is the 1st stop, everyone is stopping here...so, you can expect that everyone is gather here... even the stall there need to line up..long queue yo !! really wanted to try the Strawberry waffle and the salad..all so yummy !! but sad.gif too pack, just bought 1 pack of strawberry for RM6
3. Lunch at Strawberry View Cafe & Restaurant - I've ordered the mix vege rice, excellent!! the vege soooooo juicy and crunchy..
4. Not much to see for the butterfly and the bees...you need to pay fees for the butterfly farm @ RM5 and free for the bees farm
5. Dinner at the Chee Weng Restaurant, not to bad.. and really reasonable price, even for a steamboat per pax is only RM17...but we call for dishes..
6. Nothing fascinating about the scone here..maybe I just unlucky...bought another packs of strawberry - much bigger and sweeter than the Big Red Farm and more cheap here...2 pack big and 1 pack small for RM10
7. Went down to vegetable stall - must try the fried mushroom and broccoli - very sweet, each for RM2.50 and of cuz the sweet corn - rebus or bakar @ RM3
8. Wanted to go to the Sg. Palas Tea Plantation, tooo bad, 1 bus is stuck in the middle of the journey...couldn't make it :'( another failed mission...hhuhuhuhu
9. Went to water chestnut valley, my mind here is the charcoal chestnut, yay !! but, LOL, its not...it's the vege that for boiling and cook 1...hahhaha...stupid me
10. Rose valley is not so bad..so so I may say...entrance fee is RM4

So the conclusion is beyond expectation :'(
and do not expect tooo much, like plucking the strawberry, get together with the bees, seeing for butterfly etc...

After all, a journey from Subang to Cameron via Tapah Road is really challenging (much more challenging compare then Genting Highland) and went down via Simpang Pulai is smooth but still need to be careful
