Hi peeps,

1) 1 my trip to cameron ever! blush.gif
2) planning to go to cameron highlands in feb / week after valentines day...
3) plan to drive there.
4) actually bought a cuopon from groupoun ..despite the -ve comments from equatorial but its the cheapest /affordable place i can find. sweat.gif

Questions
1) for the equatorial, which view is the best? coz i need to call them/request either farm/hill/ or valley view.
2) i heard that the traffic can be quite heavy during weekends/school holidays sweat.gif so was wondering on a saturday midMonth, would it still be the same? unsure.gif
3) itenaries suggestion for 2d1n - yeah, im scouting here n there still..hmmm..

thanks

Your visit dates are not that busy, don't worry about traffic. The CNY madrush is just over anyway at that time. It is still cooling at that date also.  icon_rolleyes.gif

just called equatorial cameron n seems 18feb is already fully booked, so i had to settle with 11feb(3days before valentines day) sweat.gif so hope the traffic would still be the same as u guys mentioned.....but i forgot to specify what room view i want... doh.gif

This was my itinerary when I bring my friends to Cameron, I'm working there, start at Ipoh because we all meet in Ipoh and spend one night.  I'd advice you also do the same (spend 1 night in Ipoh) or have a very early start to go up from Simpang Pulai, don't take the old road.  The bold parts are my thoughts.

FIRST DAY:
1) Very light breakfast in Ipoh at 7.30am
2) Start journey at 8am
3) Sungai Palas Tea Plantation - proper breakfast (reach there around 10am) - don't need to come here, it's very miserable due to the super narrow roads and the traffic jams.  U can go to Tringkap for a heavier breakfast and coffee though, not many tourist stops here because this place is the center of vege collection, and it's exactly why u have to stop here, this place defines Cameron Highlands.  When u just reach the town, there is one road on your right which is quite a big road, leading uphill to some flats, there are a lot of speed bumps on this road.  Turn right again to enter the flats area, u will see a restaurant, behind there got lots of coffee shops and restaurants that only locals go to.
4) Check in (12.30pm) - Equatorial Hotel apartments, the coldest place in Cameron
5) Lunch in Brinchang (1pm)
6) Big Red Strawberry Farm (2.30pm)
7) Bharat Tea Plantation (3.30pm) tea time - MUST GO!
8) Kea farm for some shopping (6pm)
9) Return to apartment for rest (6.30pm)
10) Dinner steam boat (7.30pm) - Jin Jin restaurant, when going out from Equatorial, at the T-junction of the main road turn right (head to Tringkap direction), drive for 1-2 minutes, you will see the sign board (red color) on your right, very near.  Please bring your own chili sauce if u are a chili freak because the only thing bad about their steamboat is their chili sauce, other stuff like food quality, quantity, soups (tomyam and herbal) are top notch, and it's pork free

SECOND DAY:
1) Brunch (12 noon)
2) Butterfly farm (1pm)
3) Strawberry moment in the middle of no where on return trip (2.30pm) - MUST GO! it's on the new road / highway when you come up from simpang pulai before reaching the junction to turn into Kg. Raja.  I think it's got Avant Chocolate banners all over the place, you MUST TRY the Strawberry Chocolate Fountain.

wow, thanks etigge and stormlcc for the detail itinerary notworthy.gif thumbup.gif n thanks for the headsup on the road/holes...my HondaCity is full of bodyKits n not sure it can handle rough roads with holes sweat.gif so i'll opt for the longer journey.......just from what i read checkin is only 3pm shakehead.gif 1st time i ever encounter this....so i might need to modify a bit on this....

Looking forward to my 1st trip to cameron with my newly wed wife biggrin.gif both our 1st time...after that i'll surely share my pictures and update my experience in my travel logbook + LYN/travel icon_rolleyes.gif

don't bother, it'll be a nightmare
agree.  worst case scenario, from K. Terla until Tringkap jam all the way, u'll waste half day in your car stuck
*

hope 11feb will not be that jammed sweat.gif

i did a simple google map from KL <--> Equatorial Cameron ......

just wonder..between the junction ofter tapah or Gopeng,

which one is the newer better road ? im guessing the tapah one is the old shorter old road whereas the after gopeng is slightly longer but a bit better in terms of road condition/safely ? hmm.gif

Don't waste your toll going to Spg Pulai (Not Gopeng). No doubt the road better than Tapah & no need to tail-gating lorries/buses but not worth-it lor..Furthermore chances of getting jam near Tringkap & Sg Palas junction also very high.

Timing using both way also the same.. 1.5hr from Tapah till Equatorial using the old way Vs 1/2 hr driving xtra km to Spg Pulai & from Spg Pulai to Equatorial another 45- 1hr (Depending on jam)..I choose Tapah way

thanks for the advice bro..will consider it... smile.gif im more concern bout safety + my car body kit tongue.gif if only i had a 4wheel drive..hehe..

The tapah-ch road is ok. No pot holes except narrow and sometime trailing lorries and buses
*

yeah, one has to just try to experience one thing ..will ask my partner to take video at the road n perhaps share it here for peeps to scared to try biggrin.gif last time i used n9 bukit putus road.... im guessing road slightly narrower smile.gif so 6am from KL not to late? hmm.gif

Here's my itinerary, plz advice smile.gif ->
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

questions -
1) BOH Plantation - donno where to sqeeze in, indeed wanna go, just for the experience. or is it just next to equatorial? haha.
2) where is the best spot to take breath taking pictures? like do i need to stop anywhere on the way up there? any tips?
3) is there any tracking/waterfall around?
4) does my itinerary make sense coz i donno which place is near to which place.

QUOTE(etigge @ Feb 6 2012, 09:10 AM)
Aiyoo, the Tapah road is safe lah! Nobody ask you to drift to the top. Taking Tapah way saves you 80 minutes driving and also lesser toll charges. If you are really scared of blind corners, honk your horn lorrr.! doh.gif
*
okay, now ive a bit confident in using the Tapah road smile.gif i think one needs to experience first then evaluate for future tips smile.gif

I think there are a few bumps that are high enough to scratch your bodykit after the guard house in the Boh Plantations in Sg.Palas. Since you are travelling on a Saturday means there are less lorries on the road as Saturday is their designated off day (for the vege collection, most but not all). If you ride a motobike in Cameron Highlands, it will be too chilly in the early mornings and also late evenings. I have seen those kapcai gangs riding up there and then take shelter in my car and don't want to get out. Seriously! It was drizzling at that time.

aiyooo..now already dilemma....

honda city with bodyKit

or

borrow my buddies, mitsu Triton but a bit width/ hard to budget due to the narrow road sweat.gif
