No wonder so cheap, doesn't that mean the shipping is uninsured or under insured? Cause the shipping gets more expensive if the item is more expensive is because of the increased insurance coverage.
Sure the seller can under declare the value but if anything wrong with package, cry la. At least ishibashi covers the insurance. |

Oh, just replace the current inlays with better quality one izzit, i thought you want some fancy inlay work which will need the whole fretboard replaced.
It can be done. If luthier can removed fretboard and stick it back what's a few inlays? Might still cost you RM300 to 500 though. And yes, the earlier MIK Epi I habve came across have the Mother of Toiler Seats inlays. Really fugly. Ironically, it is the China ones that have the really nice looking inlays. And yes that is a bird eyes maple top. Looks scary to me though. Like lots of tiny little eyes looking at you. |

I tried one out in Woh Fatt, and while it still felt like an Epi, it sounded the closest to a Gibby out of all the Epis in there.
But I have to say, I 'couldn't get used' to that maple top. This post has been edited by Diazepam: Nov 6 2006, 11:52 PM |

For the best refret job, GG is the man. More expensive than the rest but you guitar will come back playing like a million bucks I kid you not.
Guitars with bindings have extra charge though. RM50 to RM100 extra. |

seriously, a good refret will never take a day.
once the frets are off, you have to let the neck settle down etc. stick on the frets, readjust truss rod, level them etc etc etc. you want in a day, can, go to woh fatt. then you'll be cursing for a whole year |

QUOTE(antonio @ Nov 7 2006, 06:17 PM) Probably the best luthier in this country. He is the man to go to for broken necks, new fretboards, inlays, extensive routing and modifications to the bodies or necks, refinishing and painting, refretting...His price is high but there is also a reason why he is in such high demand. While I will admit that I have never seen Tham's work before but GG refretting quality is only something I have seen on an Ibanez J Custom. The way the frets were rounded off at the edge is something you won't see on any USA fender or Gibson. |

No, the epi explorer will costs you in the ballpark of 2k. The FR in the ballpark 700 to 800. Not to mention the major routing that needs to be done since the explorer doesn't come with a tremolo cavity. The whole procedure will probably cost you 700 to 800 or even 1k since you will need to respray the whole guitar.Bottomline, just order from Japan. |

The price is great but the trem...even the SL3 is getting an OFR lo profile this year di but the RR3 still the same JT580. Wasted.
Checked the bid, RM2250 is a tad misleading. The bid starts at RM2250 and the buy it now price is RM2700++ I reckon this guitar will probably sell for RM2500++ The colour is really yucky though. The blue flame one is much nicer. This post has been edited by noisetrigger: Nov 7 2006, 09:05 PM |

hmm, anyone thinks customs will charge tax for a smokey amp?
if ordered via the smokey website, it basically costs RM150 total with postage via USPS. |

halo! its been a long time since i dropped in here... you guys are still rockin like hell i see
just a bit of a somewhat 'sad' update on my side. about 3 months ago i got into an accident near 1-Utama. my Tin Milo Kelisa whacked onto the rear of a Ford Escape and the effect was similar to hitting a tree. and i broke two fingers on my left hand, the middle and the forefinger. i had to wear a cast for 3 weeks. one of the first thing that i asked the doctor was 'will i still be able to play guitar'. he said yeah, after a month. but alas, until now, my fingers' positions are a bit screwed up, looking like i've been doing the Star Trek hand gesture for too long and I can't bloody play my guitar properly!!! powerchords hurt my forefinger, and open chords are a mess... and forget about solos... anyways, i hope this isn't permanent. i miss my gears cheerios! |

Ouch bro! thats sad to hear... I do hope you fully recover and get back your skills.
one of the worst things that can happen to a guitarist. quite a few people also seem to get the carpel tunnel syndrome. |

Anyway reminds me of this story I've read, there was this guy got into a factory accident and his condition was far worse than you're facing. Broken fingers etc... the doctor asked if he played any musical instrument. He said he played the guitar and asked if he could continued playing. The doctor told him to keep playing as it's the best remedy for his fingers. At first it hurted, but eventually he got over it and could play most of the stuff he could before the accident. |

After so many years with arthritis & all, Les Paul is still playing the guitar. So dun take it too hard on yourself. Go easy, cos' the last thing you'd want is to over-exert your fingers before they've completely healed and cause permanent damage.

The Les Paul Classic Custom is reaaally nice, but I like the new SG-3 more
![]() The SG-3 pushes the power, sustain, and tonal range of Gibson's legendary SG into new sonic dimensions. Equipped with a revolutionary 6-way pickup switch and three gold-plated Gibson humbuckers-a pair of '57 Classics in the neck and middle positions, and a '57 Classic Plus in the bridge position-the SG-3 goes where no SG has gone before. Sporting a chicken-head knob, Gibson's exclusive rotary selector offers six pickup settings: bridge, bridge/middle, middle, middle/neck, neck, and bridge/neck. Combining unrivaled playability with an extraordinary spectrum of sweet, yet scorching humbucker tones, the SG-3 is the perfect guitar for rock, metal, and blues guitarists. The other new one, the BFG kinda makes me go WTF??? Any idea what it stands for? "Big F*ckin' Guitar" maybe? LPs are a thing of beauty and should be left lookin' pretty IMO. However, it does have a really great pickup combo. I could do without the killswitch. ![]() A stripped-down, rock 'n' roll flamethrower, the Les Paul BFG is the most powerful Les Paul Gibson has ever made. Blasted back to the bare essentials, the BFG is the Les Paul for guitarists who want it loud, raw, and wild. Two volumes and one tone knob control the sonic spectrum put out by a high-powered Burstbucker 3 humbucker in the bridge and a screaming, singlecoil P-90 in the neck. The traditional toggle has been rewired as a kill switch, and a mini-toggle at the volume knobs controls pickup selection. An innovative powerhouse, the BFG has no binding, no figured top, no finishing touches. This gives the BFG a distinctive look that is both modern and vintage, while allowing for a price that makes pure Les Paul performance available to all players. The result is a perfect storm of eye-catching style, incredible tone, and unbeatable playability-all at a great price. Destined to be a classic. yea, i saw the SG-3.
the only drawback to it is the 6 way selector. you cannot switch fast in the middle of playing and hope to hit the right pickup spot that you want. btw, the LP BFG, someone said the list price in US is $969! and damn, EVH's son is all grown up. Van Halen To Tour This Summer With Wolfgang http://www.knac.com/article.asp?ArticleID=5089 G4tv.com's TheFeed reports that Eddie Van Halen's spokesperson has confirmed the band is rehearsing and writing for a summer 2007 tour with Eddie's son Wolfgang on bass duties. "Yes...Wolfgang [is] the new bass player for the band and, yes, he has been in the studio with his dad and uncle rehearsing and writing for an upcoming summer 2007 tour," Eddie's rep Janie Liszewski said. "Wolfgang most certainly has inherited the Van Halen musical genius gene. At 15 years of age his knowledge, understanding, skill, and command of multiple instruments is impressive." She also confirmed that Michael Anthony is out of the group. Regarding the rumors of David Lee Roth fronting the band on this upcoming trek, Liszewski said, "There has been no confirmation that David Lee Roth will be touring this coming summer." One can only hope... This post has been edited by Everdying: Nov 9 2006, 07:23 AM |

Hmmm... I saw the 6-way selector as a plus on the SG-3. Guess with my playing style I don't usually try to quickly switch pickups mid-way through a song. To each his own heh.

Oh man..... I think I've been playing waaaaaaaaaaaay too much Guitar Hero 2!!!! My thumb hurts soooo bad.
On the Dethklok track, I still can't get 5 stars (maximum 4) on Hard, but what I CAN do is pull off some killer stunts!!!! I can play with the "hand-over-fretboard" ala Dragonforce/Michael Angelo and even "double-tapping" ala Van Halen!!!!!!!! SERIOUS!!! I'll try to make a recording of the song synced with my guitar playing...... |

Why not you try to pair it with Dimarzio? i think you could get lower output but better clean than the EMG

Oic....if i stand on your position....i might let the both EMG-Hz be there but get a high output pickup like Dimarzio since you have two EMG edi....

Well, I'll keep the stocks for a while and see if I need more kick in terms of tone. And besides...... this RR3 will be the "shredding" guitar...... I think the SD's will suit it just fine.......
But I know everdying will complain because it's a bolt-on neck...... but hey.... |

This is where I wonder what the outcome would be if you had an EMG on your bridge position & a DiMarzio/Duncan in the neck position. Anyone tried such combinations b4?

If that's EMG active pickups.....both bridge and neck should be EMG too....not sure if that's passive pickup like EMG-Hz and SD JB....
EDIT: but it think it's quite impossible....coz EMG comes with a humbucking pickup but the SD JB comes with a combonation of two single coil....so that may have some problem in pickup selection or likely canot do this combination... This post has been edited by Criptonox89: Nov 11 2006, 08:29 AM |

Anyone tried such combinations b4? You can't combine active and passive on the same guitar. Different pot values. It is either your EMG will sound correct and your passive will sound like sh*t or vice versa. The idea seems a lot more plausible on an LP though since it has separate volume and tone controls for each pickup but will still be quite a lot of rewiring here and then to get it to work right. Most people who put just one active in the guitar will just leave the other passive disconnected. |

what he can do on the RR3, instead of 1vol 1tone.
have 2 vols, 1 for the active and 1 for the passive. i doubt he'll use the tone anyway. |

No, it has a big old fender style heel. More people should be adopting the AANJ for bolt on. Makes such a huge difference.

scallopping the frets wont really do much, and IMO scallopping the frets only helps you make your vibratos better, but the feel of a "longkang" on your frets is quite unpleasant sometimes, though i kinda like the feel once in a while. Malmsteens "longkang" is really a malaysian "longkang"(haha couldnt help but use that term i know

Ooooooooh. Browsing through the catalog and saw this: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailp...e_Tremolos.html Might get one for my Les Paul-100...... Maybe when I decide to upgrade the trem and tuners on the RR3........ IF needed This post has been edited by blacktrix: Nov 11 2006, 07:38 PM |

It is pointless to upgrade the tuners on a floyd. It is not like it is the tuners that are holding your guitar is tune.
Even on a normal guitar, it is hard to find bad tuners today. Most of the problems with tuning is at the nut or just badly strung strings. |

Yeah... I already have 2 Fixed Bridge Les Pauls, and I wanted to try some Steve Vai/Satch but mainly Dragonforce, Trivium and Zakk style Tremolo solo stuff. Was really impressed by Dragonforce use of the trem bar..... really abusing it.... and wanted to try out.
Next year, probably no new guitar for me...... hopefully my amp deal does through.... but in 2008.... will be heading back to the states and get me a Dimebag Razorblade..... And if I had all the cash...... I would have gotten the RR1 already. Neck thru AND FR.... Unfortunately, I don't have the dough for that. Besides...... this is an X-mas prezzie, so can't really complain. This post has been edited by blacktrix: Nov 11 2006, 09:17 PM |

The JT580 (same thing as the LoTRS) I believe will be ok for a few months but after that, the headache starts la, especially if you are going to abuse it ala Steve Vai or Dragonforce style. Good thing is, it is a direct swap with the OFR though that will set you back another 700-800. |

very interested to know how much they gonna charge for a OFR btw, about ordering from fender via bentley... couple weeks ago when i called, bentley told me next fender shipment will be in 3-4 months time, so if you dont mind the wait, you can place an order. I betcha bentley would overcharge the OFR. I've no doubt!!(maybe cos im really starting to get pissed off with their sales services). Dragonforce stuff?...OFR is indeed still the most favourite, but seeing as how the rr3 is a low profile trem, it should be alright i guess...but why abuse the rr3? im kinda scared that if you abuse the rr3 too much ala steve vai style or dragonforce style the whole plank of wood would just come out seeing as how the rr3 looks so....well...lets just say there aint much wood involved in it
And oh btw blacktrix, i think you already know about the "joys" of floyd rose when it comes to changing strings, so i say...get ready for the time of your life! This post has been edited by z3r0l33t: Nov 12 2006, 12:52 AM |

changing strings on a floyd rose is easy, once everything has been previously setup.
with enough experience, its possible to change them in the same time as any normal fixed bridge guitar. and setting up floyd rose guitars is even easier than those with tuneomatics or fender vintage style bridges. |

Well, interesting fact is that Sam Toteman aka The OTHER guy in Dragonforce uses an RR3 guitar and he certainly abuses the trem as well.... Only mods he did is probably just the pickups (DiMarzio Evolutions)

well, he used to use RR3.
its no longer listed on his page. but the RR3, well the pickups are obviously good enough. but since the trem is basically a LO-TRS, then i myself will avoid it. also just one thing you gotta make sure when placing an OFR in it. the distance between the posts. since the JT580 like the LO-TRS has the left side of the bridge where it rests on the post completely straight... the post distance might or might not be similar to an OFR. |

While setting up a Floyd is pretty straightforward, it is time consuming, especially when setting up intonation. Good thing is, you only need to do it once.
My best record for changing strings anf retuning on a Floyd is half and hour. I can do the same on a normal guitar in ten. Anyone that can change strings on a floyd (especially a floating one) and retuning it in ten must be the fastest floyd string changer in the world. Sam Totman uses an Ibanez V now, looks cool. Ibanez is going to unveil in next NAMM. The OFR is a direct drop in replacement. An OFR retrofits a LoTRS on an Ibanez without any modification and I don't see why it wouldn't be same on the RR3. One interesting note, I read about this before, one Jerry Donahue (head or R&D or somethign like that in Ibanez last time) did a Rockwell test on the LoTRS and discovered that it is as hard as a Schaller Floyd. If that's the case, the LoTRS should be a pretty decent trem. Btw, look what I found in my mailbox today ![]() ![]() |

Hi. I am interested in learning how to play the guitar. I have one question. Can I play musical notes with the guitar, like how we play a piano, flute, violin, etc. Cause one of my friends say that guitars can only play chords.

You should beat the crap out of that guy who said it..... Chords is basically a series of individual notes played together..... So if you can "chord" single notes, surely you should be able to play single notes too, right?
Soloing for example is MOSTLY the use of single notes played in a pattern, scale or sometimes just made up. So to answer your question.... YES. It is possible to play individual notes. As for my Pro.... I wanted to know someone who can help fix in a new Trem (If I get an OFR) AND set it up as well.... you guys listed a few sites to go to for how to tune and setup my trem..... can you list 'em down again? Thanks..... kinda excited this being my first FR guitar. And yes, I'm well aware that Sam Totman switched to Ibanez. It looks cool, but waaaaaaaay too expensive for me already. |

As for the set up, better save yourself some money and I can swap it and set it up for you the coming gathering. They charge quite alot outside to set up and tune an OFR guitar. |

The build quality is really good for the bar, solid, lighter, and the brushed look is really cool. A good matched to my almost faded to chrome edge pro. It's really nice, just that the brushed look didn't look as brushed as I expected (as compared to the usual brushed aluminium). I didn't want it to be too bling anyway hehe. If possible I would have wanted it cosmo black to match my Edge Pro. Weights pretty much the same as stock to me. |

My Streamyx wasn't operational until the monday after raya. It's really nice, just that the brushed look didn't look as brushed as I expected (as compared to the usual brushed aluminium). True, the brushed look wasn't as brushed as I thought too. I was expecting like really worn out look but it's ok. Don't worry man, soon your edge pro will fade too match your bar I could have swore it was lighter. I guess I should dig up my broken bar to compare. |

It is very possible but two things that need to be taken into account.
First being most 21-22frets guitars' cutaway will not be deep enough for you to reach the 24th fret (noticed how 24frets guitars have a much deeper cutaway compared to the standard strat?) And lastly, the extended fretboard will cover your neck pickup. |

The scale length has nothing to do with it though with a shorter scale length, the shorter the distance will be between the frets and this might make the last few quite hard to fret.
A longer or shorter scale length doesn't change the fact the neck pickup was first routed for a 22 fret neck. The cutaway on a V was never that great and with 24 fret it will only be worse. |

Indeed i've to agree! its still one of the hardest necks to play when trying to solo above the 17th fret or so(its second to claptons V neck and too jeff becks super thick neck)But it is no problem for you dude If you can solo on anything past the 15 fret of an LP you can solo on anything else. |

QUOTE(noisetrigger @ Nov 12 2006, 10:39 AM) The OFR is a direct drop in replacement. An OFR retrofits a LoTRS on an Ibanez without any modification and I don't see why it wouldn't be same on the RR3. well, but the distance between the posts lengths might be different.its pretty obvious that the design of the trems are different, there is no groove on the left side of the JT580 for the post to fit into, rather just a straight edge just like the ibanez trems. so jackson for all you know could always move the left post a mm either side, preventing OFR's from fitting in without modding. btw, just got this today from cash converters. ![]() shadow electric w/ hardcase, made in germany. schaller trem, schaller tuners, the famed shadow EQ-5 active pickups. spent about 30mins taking it apart the trem knife edges are not worn out at all, but mostly got it for the pickups. i have some work to do on it to bring it up to playable condition, but nothing hard. QUOTE(Everdying @ Nov 12 2006, 10:23 PM) well, but the distance between the posts lengths might be different. As different as the design is, still based on the OFR. I know what you mean but the right side has groove so it will sit proper in the stud and it has been proven that the OFR retrofits LoTRS and JT580 route without issues. Though if Blacktrix absolutely wants to be sure he should measure the distance between the two stud on the RR3. its pretty obvious that the design of the trems are different, there is no groove on the left side of the JT580 for the post to fit into, rather just a straight edge just like the ibanez trems. so jackson for all you know could always move the left post a mm either side, preventing OFR's from fitting in without modding. btw, just got this today from cash converters. You can find the LTD version in Guitar Collection Mid Valley. RM6k+++I rather get the Edwards version from ishibashi. 90,000 yen before shipping. I am currently saving hard to get it next year. I am such a fanboy I don't mind the single pickup. |

have to do a major cleanup of it which im abit lazy to now.
and the idiot who had it before had that big thin metal piece between the trem and block on backwards. havent checked the bridge posts for wear yet, cheap to replace if worn out anyway. as long as the trem edges are in good condition. another guitar where the cost of the parts are worth more. cant find much info on them online. only these. apparently Shadow guitars were handmade, and pretty expensive when released, and due to the high costs Shadow stopped making guitars in 1994. the neck apparently is similar to the ibanez wizard. but that one i dont care, its the pickups, Shadow sells brand new for Euro140. Electric guitar humbucker with built in 5-band equalizer. 7 trim-pots on top of the pickup adjust the input level, master gain and 5-band E.Q.. Active E.Q. circuit can be switched on or off and can be used to E.Q. other passive pickups in the guitar. Humbucker is fully shielded and has four conductor output for all wiring possibilities. now i need to get a manual from Shadow on how to on or off and use it for other passive pickups This post has been edited by Everdying: Dec 15 2006, 12:30 AM |

Alexi Laiho's LTD is hanging in MidValley's Guitar Collection....... 6K++
Thought of it, but need a double pickup option...... that's why went for the RR3. Also, had 2Vol and 1 Tone which I love already pre-wired....... And as for that Shadow guitar............ super buy man. Congrats on your purchase...... |

im gonna see what i can do with those shadow pickups.
its one that i've always wanted to try from a long time ago, just never saw one. maybe the schaller trem can be a backup for my SG. and why you want double pickup option? the JB pickup can be coil split. and you can install a killswitch if you really want it |

they placed a price of RM5k on it, couple weeks ago i asked a guy there how much it sold for... he told me RM3200... dunno if he was crapping or not. This post has been edited by Everdying: Nov 12 2006, 11:44 PM |

What fish? Water Fish??? (Only chinese would get it)
And as for plugging in via a regular speaker VS a proper guitar amp.... of course there's going to be tons of difference. If played at a too loud volume, your regular speakers might blow. I've seen it happen. Not a pretty sight. About the Electric sounding classic...... there are simulators (like the Boss Acoustic Simulator) or effects which MAY make your electric sound like an acoustic..... but even that..... won't sound like an acoustic (Unless you have a piezo system installed...... but that's a whole different issue AND bank balance)..... |

it is a pickup modeller.
what distinguishes most pickups are their frequency response. thats why its so expensive, EURO140, roughly RM650. and this pickup has been around for 20yrs or more. saw their ads in guitar world in the early 90s also. heres some additional info i found on it. i just have no idea how to switch it off, i guess just set everything in the middle should be default bypass in most cases. Vol.-controls the output level of the EQ/preamp circuit. After making EQ settings, use this control pot to set the output of the EQ/preamp to the correct level for the amplifier or effects unit you are using. 100 Hz-Provides 12dB of bass boost or cut. 300 Hz-Provides 12dB of low midrange boost or cut. 1K Hz-Provides 12dB of midrange boost or cut. 5K Hz-Provides 12dB of high midrange boost or cut. 10K Hz-Provides 12dB of treble boost or cut. N/R-Controls the input level of the EQ/preamp. For the best signal to noise ratio, set this control to the full on (clockwise) position and use lower settings for the EQ and volume control pots. I remember one of our users uses a G9.2TT...... forgot who.... Hooked it up to a modified Vox AD30vt with an FX-loop and uses it as a power-amp as well. Raving about it.......
I stuck with the Vox Tonelab SE..... Extremely happy with it.... just made a Vai like distortion patch today..... boosted by my little ZW-44 overdrive. And I think I found my next guitar: http://www.scienceimage.csiro.au/mediarele...air-guitar.html Now with YouTube! This post has been edited by blacktrix: Nov 14 2006, 11:20 PM |

the logo, the serial number usually isnt printed at heel.
the maple fretboard also looks weird, too plain for it to be a MIM. and T serial numbers are reserved for american made tribute instruments. all mexico models must start with M. |

You still need good equipment to sound great. Though, I do agree that part of a player's tone comes from the fingers. Some players can sound pretty decent on cheap gears while some players sound like crap even with thousand bucks worth of rig. WOW. that's a seriously well crafted guitar. Beautiful smooth tones and a rich texture too.
I'd buy that if I haven't already bought my RR3. |

Duh.... it's not meant to be played that way.
You have to place it resting on your thigh, and you hold it upward..... Or you play it standing up...... |

and for a totally 'rockstar' pose while soloing, stand up with your right leg resting on a raised platform, put the V arch of the RR3 on your right thigh and solo on
but i couldn't solo properly due to the weird angle... |

actually both of them work as good as the screw thats actually holding it on your guitar.
so no matter what fancy lock you have on your strap, if that screw is loose its useless. as for me, im actually gonna put gripper strap buttons on instead. i have one pair already, getting another one from stewmac soon. This post has been edited by Everdying: Nov 16 2006, 10:58 PM |

Yeah. I knew that already. saw it in a NAMM Expo picture.
Funny story. Zakk originally wanted it to look more like the opening sequence of Vertigo.... you know.... NOT uniformed circles swirling..... But the artist screwed up and what you see was the final product. Zakk liked it quite alot and decided to keep it. And the whole REASON of adding the bullseye? So he doesn't look like Randy Rhodes! He already had the long blond hair.... And another thing...... quite off the guitar topic..... but don't know if you can help....... Anywhere I can find *gulp*.... Hello Kitty drumsticks? A friend of mine was looking for them..... Or perhaps anywhere I can "wrap" regular drumsticks?? |

Nowadays all kinda made in China or Taiwan....Japan made is totally out of the question unless the effects cost USD 799 and above...Hell even the stomp boxes nowadays are taiwan made....'They' say got some sort of diffrence....But again the diffrences is really how you inteprate it and not how you noticed where it was being made....(tips: your fingers & ears) |

Any drumstick in the range of RM30 should be pretty decent.
My drummer has a preference for Tama sticks though. He says they last longer than those overpriced Zidjian sticks. |

But I hope and hope and hope that they bring in the new Epiphone Tube Amplifiers.... like the small bullet or the big a$$ full stack one..... Of course, my prayers will NEVER be answered. Anyways, for hardcases..... I'm the worst for advice. I spent 500 bucks for a Coffin Case..... and going to waste another 500+ because of the RR3. |

I am not sure how much he wants to sell the one he had but the current market price for a used one in the US range can range from 600 to 700 USD depending on the condition and year. Take note that those prices are before shipping and tax.
The one I bought from him came with fooswitch and costers so there are extra costs there. The other one if I remember correctly doesn't comes with the footswitch or costers. To give you an idea, ordering a new footswitch from Peavey will cost you around rm200. Don't bother with those Marshall or generic ones either, they don't work on the 5150. |

With the RR3, you got no choice but the Coffin Case anyway. You will be hardpressed to find a hardcase that can actually fit a V for RM200.

Well, there ARE cases for V's, but the Coffin Case are just sooooo cool!
But yeah, bass cases CAN fit Warlocks...... but not the V's. I checked. The warlock are large at Both ends.... like a bass, but the V is only long at the bottom end, so it will "swim" in the case for abit. Not sure about Explorers though. |

anyway, stupid musicyo doesnt ship to malaysia. closest is singapore, and cheapest rate is USD132 for a guitar w/ hardcase. means that kramer 1984 is gonna be USD1k. This post has been edited by Everdying: Nov 19 2006, 07:24 AM |

You can probably get a custom made case for RM600 to RM700.
Ironwood has been known to mark up their prices greatly anyway (even more so than Bentley). Rm4k++ for a MIK Schecter is just silly. |

Guys, ceriatone is offering a JCM800 2204 now. Check it out
http://www.ceriatone.com/ Less than 3k for a 50 watts all tube handwired head. This is a steal honestly. The Marshall one is like what, RM10k? Surely a better buy than any Marshall. Despite being 50 watts, it is already more than enough. 100 watts are only 3db louder (which not much at all) than 50 watts and most actually find smaller wattage amps to sound better because you get earlier breakup and powertube distortion. Nik's workmanship is excellent, using quality components and huge custom made transformer. Having seen and tested his product. I can say for sure that it is better made than any Marshall today. |

Wow.... gears that are meant for drooling for the rest of us.
I love Guitarist magazine, but it creates unwanted GAS and temptations. On a sidenote, looks like there're lots of readers who want to write like Pink Floyd and Zeppelin... but Green Day > Jeff Buckley??? O_o |

Wow. Looks like Marshall is making a comeback...... first the Vintage Modern and now THIS??? A'Freakin'Mazin'
Well, hopefully I can get a CeriaTone JCM800 with 6550 Power Tubes Head next year.... sounds like a good deal...... Any suggestions for a reasonably priced cab? Will be thinking something along the lines of a Marshall 1960 cab. |

Darrencw is selling the used RG2570 he just bought a few weeks ago, at a higher starting price too http://forum.jamtank.com/viewtopic.php?t=1...5119c3a0f88f60b
I am glad I ended up not selling my RG to him at the last moment. I would hate to see it changing hands so fast. This post has been edited by noisetrigger: Nov 22 2006, 04:12 PM |

Another news. Marshall all tube JTM30 for sale. RM1000, supposedly some issues with it but if can be fix for a few hundred bucks, it is still a good deal.

I dont think its a problem selling at a higher price for something that has been bought cheaper. Its not anyone's problem that he got a good deal and decided to sell it at an appropriate price.
Then again, noisetrigger probably didnt intend to offend you or anything. |

Mwahahahaha...... It's a damn fun guitar to play. Getting used to a whole new style of guitar. The V angles are so different, My palm muting rests a bit weird, getting used to the strap (it locks from the back of the guitar), Trying to get the hang of the wider frets and realizing that the Floyd Rose is a F'ing pain in the A$$!!!
I seriously need some help to tune it up or god forbid..... change strings..... Next gathering baby!!!!!!!! This post has been edited by blacktrix: Nov 22 2006, 10:01 PM |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Nov 22 2006, 08:45 PM) you sure? i cant find that model anywhere online. Thats what I heard. It's not released yet. But it has been leaked out at jemsite and the official ibanez forums. I'm guessing it will be a 2007 model. Also coming out in 2007 is a new V, which someone had already posted, the V-blade VBT700.i checked both japan and USA ibanez sites, not listed. btrix... SHWEEET! the trem is something u have to understand and then it won't be a pain anymore. the guide below will be very useful for u despite being more specific to ibanez guitars: http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/index.htm This post has been edited by MetalZone: Nov 22 2006, 11:47 PM |

Thanks for the tips. Will have to read 'em when I'm NOT heavily medicated.
Yeah, I saw Sam Totman's V...... but like Metalzone said, the final uses a fixed bridge..... However, I'm still excited to see Zakk's new V guitars...... The V with the bullseye (and a Floyd Rose), and the b*****d child of the V and SG guitar..... But I AM enjoying pulling off those dive-bombs on the FR..... now to get a Digitech Whammy to complete the sound! |

and heres what i suggest.
do not put EMGs into the jackson, cos it will not sound good. no matter what ppl say that EMGs sound the same in any guitar, those who actually use EMGs will say they only sound nice in mahagony bodied guitars. |

I am not sure where you get the flaming and sarcastic thing but I am not. I am just a very direct person. I surf jamtank too and I saw your thread and posted it here. Heck, if Blacktrix was selling his Bulleyes or V, I am sure as hell that it will be posting it here too. If I were to sell my 5150, I am sure someone will post it here too. We just pass news around here. How much you want to sell it is not my problem, I was just making a remark. It is not like I posted the remark in jamtank where potential buyers will see it. Secondly, who else did I flame or were being sarcastic too? But thirdly, since you want to make it sound I scam you by pulling out of a deal at the last moment with the trade zone threat (I saw the post which you later edited), go complain in trade zone then. I know it won't stick since I did not scam you. While pulling out of a deal at the last moment is not ethical, it is hardly wrong. It is not like I took you money already. While I am not going to pretend to know the amount of trouble you went through to get the money in one day despite you saying it will take you a week or two, I will say this, when you have the intention of buying something, you might want to have the money at hand first next time. As for the way I respond, let's put it this way, maybe I do know what I am talking about. It is not like I pull things out of thin air. Everything were backed up by hard facts and sources. If people were to view a well argued and thought out reply as condensending, maybe they shouldn't be posting in a discussion forums then. Peace dude and relax since you are seeking for malice intention which wasn't there in the first place. I say you overreacted. |

We need a review blactrix. How's the FR treating you? How's the JB sounding? Izzit thin and bright? cause that's how most people perceive they will sound like in a bolt on alder body guitar.

this is one of my all time favourite V's... the Ibanez ProLine PL2660.
http://www.ibanezregister.com/Gallery/proline/gal-pl2660.htm the white one looks sweet. theres a black one in tham's place. neck-thru, original edge trem, ebony fretboard. i prefer this style RR V's. the jackson's lower horn seems a bit too short This post has been edited by MetalZone: Nov 23 2006, 02:02 AM |

I wasn't looking for another Les Paul.... I wanted something that was utterly different from my Les Pauls. If I wanted a Les Paul with a floyd, I'd get the grassroots one in Guitar Collection already.
I wanted either a V or and explorer. I've heard some good reviews of the RR3, so I just went for it. Besides....... It's Randy Rhode's guitar man!!! Like you said, the Pickups and thin and bright..... very different from my Les Pauls. Don't worry...... won't be swapping in EMGs. If I WOULD to swap.... I'd swap in DiMarzio Evolutions..... Now after a new coffin case for it...... ooooooh. will have to call 'em today. |

Guys, I highly recommend buying from CDWOW. Lots of great deals, cheaper than YesAsia and Amazon (certain stuff), free shipping, and can get all these european metal bands stuff.
I ordered Reservoir Dogs 10th anniversary 2 disc edition which got here in a week. Costs me 4.99 pounds, which is only about RM35. And I just ordered Children of Bodom Chaos Ridden Years, 8.99 pounds, and at the current exchange rate, that's like 60+++ Great stuff!!! |

Firstly, that is not a prestige and secondly, early RGs with the old joint has the serial stamped on the neck plate instead. When they start introducing the AANJ, the moved the serial to the back of the headstock.
However, the serial should be just a sticker under the finish so no way it should just disappear. That is the only weird thing about the RG, other than that everything seems legit. I envy the guy who got to it first. |

yes....i know it's not a RG prestige too....but as a comparison to the RG prestige now....it's totally same just the bridge.....it's an oldery version of RG 2570.....but RG2570 comes with Dimarzio....
Yes.....i believe so....i'm not sure who's the 'really' fast seller.....anyway..hopes that's true.... |

I tried that ibanez site.... but doesn't really work for me. For string changing... try & have a look athttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwNVjNohOt4 for tuning, floyd rose website has the instruction... http://www.floydrose.com/originaltremolo.html This post has been edited by Banzai_san: Nov 25 2006, 04:03 AM |

I'm a MAJOR trem abuser......
Whatdaya expect when the sole reason I got the RR3 is to play DragonForce and Steve Vai stuff......... But can't actually play them..... just the fancy noises it makes..... I love making the horse noise..... |

I'm sure everybody faced same problem with their 1st FR guitar....when you had tuned until the 6th string......1st string had totally out of tune...normally i'll tuned 1st and 6th string together.....2nd and 5th as well as 3rd and 4th......i'll count how many times i had tuned the tuning pegs...although it's not accurate...but seems to have a little bit of help....

Mixer? As in to combine 2 or more sound clips together?
To me I use Adobe's Audition. Combines an editor and a fairly robust multi-track...... and to me it seems like the most user friendly. |

I don't use much of Reason anymore, so I don't.
But I use it mainly to record my guitar parts and then later on use the Amplitube VST plug-in. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Nov 27 2006, 03:42 PM) hmm, keng has a epi LP standard for RM1250. I have seen this LP in person before. Great value for the money. 2005 model, MIC yes but one of the best I have ever seen. I have never seen an MIK LP as good.has a skb hardcase and straploks. http://forum.jamtank.com/viewtopic.php?t=10763 appears to be a MIC, whoever wants to verify just go get its serial number cos im not interested in it. Beautiful flame top, mahopgany body and mahogany neck, nicely done inlays, in very good condition, this thing is practically new. RM1250 is a damn good deal for one honestly. They go for more than RM2k here. |

But yeah...... I have a well documented "thing" for Hilary Duff...... but it all went south when she became all skanky. I blame Joel Madden for that. Now he can ROT IN HELLLLLLLL!!! Oh..... and I just can't get The Pick Of Destiny tune outta my head! HELP!!!!! |

I dont think I would have enough money to buy guitar stuff right now if I had a gf. As it is, Im only eating RM 3.50 chicken rice everyday for lunch..nothing else. Maybe RM 2.00 nasi lemak if I really need the money. Once I get new pickups Im gonna stop starving myself. =( |

Well..... one mustn't be very well endowed....... otherwise no room for the guitar!
OK...... back to a more serious note..... I noticed that one of the tuners on my Ibanez Acoustic is already bent..... don't know how.... but it is. Thinking of replacing the tuners.... according to the Ibanez website, they are Ibanez Smooth Tuner AS tuning heads..... Question is, which are suitable replacements? Can i just pull out any of the Gotoh or Schaller or Grover tuners from stewmac and they should fit?? ![]() This post has been edited by blacktrix: Nov 29 2006, 10:56 PM |

Also, Zoom has the option of recording Via USB..... which could be useful to some. But have to agree that Korg has the overall better sounding unit. I already have 2 Zoom units, and I gave up on both. Was tempted with their 9.2tt.... but after all the bad experience.... went with the Vox instead.

for replacements first obviously you have to see what the diameter of the peg is.
too big and you have to reroute. then you have to see the mounting screws if it lines up, else have to drill new holes, but that is usually expected if the tuners being replaced are not common. |

Oh and Mysterious..... I think we'll both be playing Pentatonics until the cows come home..... that's the only one I'm ok at! Trying to throw in some Minor scale and Arpeggios to my playing style...... but whenever I'm stuck..... it's the same ol' pentatonic box pattern...... sigh. |

I have set up my GRG150 , low action, Ernie Ball 10s
It's good, but it has it limits. I want a pickup change or two, but no money XD. It is ..well actually the same thing as RG350/370DX , but without the EDGE 3 trem, which is a hassle. Here's a song created by me ,with my bro on the drums. Its called Airwaves, has some flaws, not a finished product. lawl. http://www.filefactory.com/file/65ecd7/ |

QUOTE(headhunter7 @ Dec 2 2006, 09:46 PM) I have set up my GRG150 , low action, Ernie Ball 10s personally... i got the 'Creed feel' from the song It's good, but it has it limits.

In that case we'll have to get a keyboardist!!!
But yeah, Alexi Laiho is just insane with the scales...... Isn't really about speed.... but the depth of musical knowledge is astounding. On a side note..... found a site with F**k tons of amp schematics..... hi guys, firstly I would like to apologize if I ask this question in the wrong thread.
I just receive a guitar yesterday as a gift, but I have no idea how to play it. Is there a software that teaches you how to play ? Is it ok if I look for a tutor straight away ? Thanks guys |

There are software available (like, virtual guitar teacher type programs)...... but if you're a beginner, the best is to start with classes from a music school. Once you got your basics down, then you can use the virtual tutor to further your knowledge.
And don't worry. On this thread, you can post anything remotely guitar related! |

many people learn the guitar by themselves though, but you need a lot of motivation to be able to do that.
If you got a guitar without really asking for it, then you might need a teacher to build your motivation and push you through the difficult first weeks. |

its the one in d'sara uptown near the ship.
its no fun having 3 different guitars, cos they all need different gauges ![]() and i didnt realise that the ibanez RG 300 series are now made in indonesia, cos harmony had a RG320, and the bridge looked real cheap. This post has been edited by Everdying: Dec 4 2006, 07:56 PM |

a noob question here...
if i were to change my gauge to a thicker gauge, do i need to readjust my trem? i'm using a non-floating bridge by the way...currently using 0.0095 - 0.044( <--correct?) maybe wanna change to 0.010 - 0.052 |

If you're changing your gauge, you'll have to get it re-setup if you don't want to face problems later. I remembered when I swapped in the Zakk Wylde GHS boomers for the first time in my Les Paul...... had to get a whole new saddle! Decided to send it to Guitar Collection and get it properly setuped.
And do you think it's overkill if I swapped in the EMG-Hzs into my RR3?? Getting itchy fingers.... not used to the sharp tones of the RR3 at the moment..... This post has been edited by blacktrix: Dec 4 2006, 09:49 PM |

Ah yes I tersilap baca, I read "I want sharp tones" XD
Its kinda hard getting a bassy tone out of it, as it has Alder + JB >_> Blacktrix , could you post up some metal riffs (preferably Trivium) for me ? I wanna hear the JB pickup. I've always wanted an rr3!!!!!! T_________T This post has been edited by headhunter7: Dec 4 2006, 11:01 PM |

A guitar setup could range from 20 ringgit to about 50 and above..... depending on the shop and what kind of service you want done on your guitar........
And for the RR3...... will record once this stupid semester in MMU is over...... no time to do anything much!!!!!! Planning to get an input device to record my guitar...... something like Digidesign M-Box or Line6 UX1..... but not too keen on that because I want to record through my Tonelab SE...... and not through Line6 (although excellent) amp simulators...... any idea how much an M-Box 2 would cost?? I hear Zakk is going to be on John's third album...... Can't WAIT!!!!! EDIT: Just remembered....... it's going to be the 2 year anniversary (has it been THAT long?) of Dimebag's death..... If you're a praying person.... just keep him in your prayers..... Say what you want about Dimebag, he was an awsome guitarist and a widely documented all around nice guy........ You'll be missed..... And don't bother trying to squeeze out discounts. They usually won't give you any.......
But yes..... so far the official distributer are Guitar Collection....... Find 'em in Midvalley, 1 Utama, Sunway Pyramid or Taman Tun. |

Not sure yet.... no news on which company he will endorse soon...but it's less likely that he'll return to Jackson according to many opinions in Megadeth forum.

mustaine is a born again whos very hungry for money
he says it was a business decision to leave ESP. plus hes taking all his guitar design along with him, so he has a new endorser. i remember when he supposedly said cannot play anymore, and was selling his guitars off at like USD10k each. by some miracle he could play again later, probably cos his guitars couldnt sell. QUOTE(echobrainproject @ Dec 7 2006, 02:29 AM) ![]() Edwards are made in Japan in the same factory as ESP. Same spec, same hardware minus the price tag. Think of it as mass produced version of ESP models and you will be pretty close. The Laiho model is less than RM3k before shipping and tax from ishibashi. I am saving for one now, halfway there di. |

Just use a 1/4" inch to 1/8th" inch cable and plug it into your soundcard.
But wouldn't recommend..... Acoustic guitars aren't really meant to be plugged in that way and use effects. There ARE software available, but wouldn't recommend it....... if you don't adjust your settings.... could even blow your speakers (combination of loud amp + crap soundcard [Like onboard motherboard] + crap speakers)....... And another thing...... I really don't see WHY the Laiho model is soooooo expensive.... even for the US.... it's not even to Laiho's spec! They don't have that booster that's inbuilt into his guitars....... really sucks ass |

That analogy would have worked better if Gibson were actually made in japan in the same factory as Orville.actually edwards to esp is like orville to gibson. solely for the japanese market. Edwards can best be described as the mass produced line by ESP. I guess to some LTD would be a better comparison but that would be unfair since Edwards feature same spec and hardware as their ESP counterpart. The way I look at ESP is, ESP is more like a custom shop level type of brand. Edwards are just the more affortable standard prodiction alternative. |

QUOTE(joeboto @ Dec 7 2006, 01:07 PM) the cheaper artist lookalike guitar. but still expensive lol. i've actually seen the price list from guitar collection's price list beginning of this year, that forest GT was listed for RM17k. It's almost double when you convert from japan yen.how come esp guitars r freaking expensive ah? the pickups? the bridge? what makes it so expensive? i like the forest gt model. ![]() price? 315000yen = rm 9,726.77299 And for the ltd laiho model in guitar collection, it's listed as USD1,499 but in GC it's RM6500. Overchargin it man. edwards are great.. most of them who owns them said that their quality is above the ltd 1000 series but below the ESP standard series. so the edwards stand in the middle between those two. noisetrigger : you planning to get e-al-120 huh? if only the pinstripes and inlays were luminous like the real deal haha blacktrix : the jackson booster was laiho's own customization, when he got his sig from the custom shop without the booster. i think he added that booster in this year or something? just recently |

I thought he used it since the Jackson era???
I must be mistaken....... but hopefully, they'll add in the booster as standard for the ESP models..... then it's a TRUE signature guitar..... Probably the LTD version has to live without the Booster. Also...... got a question for all your Pick-up modders. I noticed that on my RR3, when the volume is turned all the way down on the neck pickup (and it's on full on the bridge) I still get sound..... it's only until I turn the bridge volume off is when the guitar becomes silent...... it works vice versa (ie.. turning down the bridge while the neck is on full).... Is it because of the way the Seymour Duncans are wired, or can it be fixed/rewired? Really annoying as I can't make it a true cut-off switch like my Les Paul..... the 3 way toggle is to be blamed.
even on my other SG with only a bridge pickup, the neck pickup slot is empty. but when i flick it to the neck selector and play something, i get a very faint sound coming out. but of cos at high gain and fast toggling it wont be noticeable. and i guess thats why the LP BFG has a true killswitch built-in. So, if by that theory, I replace the switch with say a Les Paul one, will that do the trick?
Because on both my Les Pauls, the killswitch thing works perfectly........ This post has been edited by blacktrix: Dec 7 2006, 11:31 PM |

I have no idea what you're talking about............ but with any techniques, just start practicing.... and I mean like, religiously.... baby steps dude.....
Do you have a tutor or go for classes? The most stupid mistake a Noob can make is thinking they can learn guitar on their own and become a pro in months if they just keep practicing....... Well, you'll need someone to show you the ropes, the correct (and incorrect) way of doing things, chord progression, scales...... just take up a few lessons.... then once you feel like you learned enough, start practicing on your own. I KNOW I'm gonna get flammed for this one, so bring it on!!! |

thats why nowadays you can easily get tutorial videos.
much easier to learn from than just reading from tabs. and your 3 way toggle, you sure its working perfectly? with neckvol off and switch at neck, see if you can detect any faint sound. This post has been edited by Everdying: Dec 8 2006, 11:21 AM |

Zero's skills are freakin' amazing. HEy hey man, dont say that man. Do i have to repeat this so many times? That only difference between each guitarist is the time and sweat put into playing and practicing guitar..So we're no different from each other in terms of skills. Heck, i cant wait to see all of you guys play! learning new things from eachother and all during the gathering. And yes, as guitar noobster said, there is quite a number of guitarists whom are self taught and yet they turned out pretty fine. However, i do recommend going for lessons for those beginners as having a teacher does provide you a guideline to what you must learn and prepare you for the future. Only once you've known the fundamentals of guitar theory(or music theory nonetheless), then feel free to pursue your guitar dreams being self taught. I made a mistake in not learning the basic fundamentals and pursued to just learn songs instead, which left me dumbfounded when it came to jamming and timing and whatnot. Also note, TIMING in music is just as important as you learning your abcs and this applies to everyone |
