A noob question here. Im gonna get a pair of Dimarzio breeds from SG for my Ibanez RG, gonna ask my friend to help me buy. Is there anything in particular that I need to tell him? I dont really know what's F spaced etc, scared I'll buy the wrong one. Should I just tell him to buy the breeds, dont have to worry abt F-spaced etc?

For your Ibanez RG, it is recommended that you get One F-Spaced for the bridge and one Normal Spaced for your neck. According to most, whether or not your bridge is F-spaced or not, does not really affect the tone much (since the magnet or whatever 'aura' do not travel straight up from the polepieces). But rather more for cosmetic purposes. Having F-spaced for your bridge will align the pole pieces nicely under your strings.

And as for the neck, there is no need for F-spaced because the string spacing is the same as Les Paul guitars, I think.

Correct me if I'm wrong, fellow forumites. thumbup.gif

F-spaced...well some may say for cosmetic purposes.
but EVH on his frankenstrat actually slanted his gibson humbucker in it so it will align.
from that came about the slanted bridge humbuckers on guitars.

so if EVH says it works, then it works period tongue.gif

Or why not a Yamaha Pacifica? Also around the same price range.....
They have a nice showroom in The Curve.

I find the Pacifica's neck a little uncomfortable. The edges of the neck are quite sharp, aren't they?

I use F-spaced on both neck and bridge of my RG though. the neck aligns perfectly, but the bridge even though it is F-spaced, it's still short by a little. but then again, it's probably cosmetic.

Ah. Jamtank. NVM then.
Would rather have a custom made one.

Not saying anything...... but I just don't trust jamtank

just FYI.
there are ppl who solely post in the jamtank classifieds only.
the same posts appear in other forums with classifieds.

so whether its jamtank or not, doesnt matter.

I guess it's just the allignment....I'm kinda regret with mine...not the tone..but cosmetically...F-spaced will be safer....

I've always wondered... for some funny reason, the EMGs in the ZW set are referred to as Gibson-spacing... Don't the 81/85 use rails instead of pole pieces? Anyone ever noticed it? hmm.gif
