Requiem for a dream is an indie movie, Clint Mansell (the composer) worked together with The Kronos Quartet to create the soundtrack. Lux Aeterna is one intense piece !

Btw if you want to watch that movie, make sure you're mentally prepared to go through it. No cheesy happy ending in that movie..in fact no happyness at all.

Faster tempo? must be an impatient maestro. laugh.gif I haven't got Czech suite yet, been quite busy lately, trying to get mostly Mozart's works. Not easy with damn slow tmnut connections.. vmad.gif

He's got the 2nd and 5th movement, Very nice. I haven't heard the rest of the movemnets yet but so far I like the 2nd movement. It is very lively and pleasing, almost like a waltz.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Btw I highly suggest Shostakovich's "Suite for Variety Stage Orchestra" Waltz no.2 (Not to be mistaken with "Suite for Jazz Orchestra No. 2 ") This piece has quickly become one of my favourite waltz. nod.gif

Nah, I don't think there is the best waltz out there, its all on your taste. Blue Danube is just really popular but still nice. Also try listening to Waldteufel's "Ice Skaters" Waltz Opus 183. Also one of my favourites along with Strauss Junior's Wiener Blut or "Vienna Blood".

forgot to reply this post

anyway, i really prefer a faster version of Beethoven's Symphony No.9 2nd mvt becoz of the tempo is "Molto Vivace"
Vivace = lively, briskly
Molto = more
so, it mean this music piece must be played in More Lively mood
the recording you give take time around 13 minute, but the recording i get is 11 minute...

you think which one will be 'more lively'??
the slower version or faster version??
for me, that piece is really better perform in faster way

Added on February 16, 2007, 9:46 pmand i have also notice your sig
really thankyou!! notworthy.gif

It all depends on the Maestro conducting the symphony, each one differing from the other. In my opinion the speed it is played doesn't really tell me it is more lively or fast. Whats on the composition sheet already tells me it is so. The one I send you has it playing slowly and yours conducts it faster

As for the list, I don't have many waltzes but I can try to recommend some pieces of that era. nod.gif

Chopin
Waltz in G Flat Major Op. 70
Waltz in C Sharp Minor Op. 64
Grande Valse brillante Op .18

J.Strauss II
Tritsch-Tratsch Polka Op. 214
Thunder & Lightning Polka Op. 324
Emperor Waltz Op. 437 *Highly recommended
Vergnügungszug "Luxury/Journey/Pleasure Train Op. 281
Voices of Spring Op. 410 *Highly recommended
Where the Lemons Blossom Op. 364
Roses from the south Op. 388
Wine, Women and Song Op. 333
Tales from the Vienna Woods Op. 325

Tchaikovsky
Waltz, from Sleeping Beauty Op. 66 *Highly recommended
Waltz of the flowers, from The Nutcracker Op. 71

Thats all for now. I might put up some more recommnendations later.
Oh and your welcome! just trying to spread the word on Classical. We don't get many listeners here huh? quite a shame really. laugh.gif They don't know what they're missing.

To tell you the truth, I found this thread because of your sig. laugh.gif
