Expensive is one stinking issue and applies to majority of desirable albums whom the local distributors insist on NOT reducing prices in their best interests (not the consumer), and local shops have hardly any interest in stocking up. There was a lot to choose from in the 80's till early 90's..after that, its depressing. Best bet is still buying from internet stores..hardly choice isn't it..or across the Causeway if there's opportunity.

i think you better download (if you using broadband)
coz those free recording also have quality too!!
for relaxing
1.) Pachelbel's Canon in D
2.) Bach's Air (in Orchestral Suite No. 3)
3.) Puccini's "O mio babbino Caro" (forgot from which Opera)
for joy, i sure will recommend Beethoven's Symphony No.9 4th mvt
since that it include "Ode to Joy" inside
and i really feel the "joy" in this symphony!! rclxm9.gif

I've got 10.6GB of classical music and quickly growing too tongue.gif
Mostly Wolfie's pieces lol

Currently Listening to Piano Concertos and Sonatas by Mozart I really like these:

Concerto No 22 in Eb KV482 - Allegro
Concerto No 20 in D min KV466 - Romance
Concerto No 15 in B KV450 - Allegro
Concerto No 21 in C KV467 - Andante

I also Like these Pieces and highly recommend them :
Kyrie For Mass in C minor
Overture to Don Giovanni
Flute Concerto No.2 in D Andante
Concerto for clarinet and orchestra in A (K.622)
Adagio in C for Glass Harmonica
Aria - Non piu andrai From Le nozze Di Figaro
Cavatina - Porgi amor qualche ristoro From Le Nozze Di Figaro
Duettino - Che soave zefiretto From Le Nozze Di Figaro
Finale - Don Giovanni a cenar teco m'invitasti! From Don Giovanni
Symphony No 26 (Overture) in E-flat, KV 184-161a
Eine kleine Nachtmusik Rondo (Allegro)
Finale - Papagena Papagena Papagena From The Magic Flute
Andante from Concerto for Flute & Harp

Ayam a Chopin whore, love the Noctures and the hammeringly patriotic polonaises to bits, especially Maurizio Pollinis interpretation, although i'm still hunting down Rubinstein's interpretation.

I'm currently listening to Heifetz and Richter, Heifetz playing Grieg and Brahms and Richter playing Sergei. My fall back would be Tchaikovski's Violin Concerto played by David Oistrakh from time to time. Awesome stuff all the same.

Actually musicians only about 100+ only. The remaining 600+ players in a typical performance where there's 800 ppl are all singers. Male, female, boys. Sounds like opera biggrin.gif

Sergei Prokofiev more like it laugh.gif (actually it's Sergey, but they kind of sound the same anyways)

I thought Paganini variations only existed for the piano. I guess the concerto is played in A minor, with Jascha lending it his speed and accuracy of Violin like no other, his technique is perfect and mellow when it need be.

The only thing i fear from musicians, especially the younger ones who try to emulate the expressions and deep emotional musings of their older compatriates is being to schmaltzy where the just push the emotion part too far and end up looking stupid.
