I listen to mostly Baroque. I just don't know why.

J.S.Bach: Goldberg Variations, French Suites, Violin Partitas, Lute Suites, Cello Suites (I like these ones!), Brandenburg Concertos, and others.

Mozart: Uh... the 12 Variations? The K545 sonata.

Chopin: The funny Waltz in D-flat-major. Couldn't get it off my head once I listened to it.

Scarlatti: All, but really like the K159 - the song appears in a kids' quiz show.

Vivaldi: The Mandolin Suites, the Four Seasons.

Johann Pachelbel: The Canon in D and Gigue, and also one of the lute suites.

biggrin.gif
*
about Bach music...
it really surprise that the Goldberg Variations have 97 minute in total!!!

and the Cello Suite got No.1, No.2, No.3 till No.6

I have only Goldberg Variations 1~10. Will buy the full Glenn Gould's edition. His playing of the Goldberg is very nice. biggrin.gif

Cello Suites? 1007 (Prelude, Courante, Minuets I and II), 1009 (Prelude, Bourees I and II), 1010 (Seldom listen to it because I don't have a recording, so listen to the samples only), 1011 (It's the lute suites BWV 995 too) and 1012 (Sarabande, Gavottes I & II). I listened mostly the Goran Sollscher ones and the Segovia ones.

I also played a lot of Cello Suites on the guitar. The violin ones are very difficult, and I could only play Gavotte BWV1006(a) - (That tune from the Allan D' Louis pen advertisment). The easiest one is Sarabande and Double BWV1002 - any 5th graders can do it. biggrin.gif

And Handel's Sarabande too. Maksim has a remix version of this, very interesting. biggrin.gif
*
thx notworthy.gif
will go to find soon

my collection updated, found Mozart Sonata for 2 Piano (complete)

PS: seen like here didnt have many people that interesting for classical... sweat.gif
abit disappointed...

Baroque classics..that's my choice of the best classics ever. Composers like Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Telemann are legendary for their works.

Four Seasons : Best recording conducted by Christopher Hogwood. even Sir Neville Mariner loses out.
Pachelbel is only known for Canon in D and there's so many version each with a different tempo. The one I liked best is by London Symphony Orchestra.
Handel : Must have is Water Music and Fireworks. These were composed at the time of King George I's coronation in England. I have the Christopher Hogwood versions. Excellent recording. The AAM (Academy of Ancient Music) uses authentic 17-18th century violins thus displaying a wonderful violin tone..its unmatched!
*
thx for your recommendation for Baroque era
but i think the Canon in D is the best among all of the Baroque era music...

anyway, cant find many Baroque era music via internet...

for me, i prefer Classical and Romantic era music... tongue.gif

Hey cool topic. But this discussion would be best with some sample clips no?

I wonder why no one's listed Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyrie yet. Listening to that song while bombing something from the air is soo cool..

My other personal favourites:

1. Basil Poledouris - Anvil of Crom

2. Beethoven - Symphony no. 5

3. Mozart - Dies Irae

4. Carl Orff - O Fortuna

5. Tchaikovsky - Overture ( V!! V!! V!!  tongue.gif )

well, as you can see most of them were used extensively in movie soundtracks and trailers. can't help it, they just sound damn epic!!  thumbup.gif
*
Beethoven Symphony No.5!!! rclxms.gif
i think it is the most famous symphony
Mozart 'Dies Irae' is a part of "Requiem", but i prefer 'Introit'
Carl Orff - O Fortuna, very good music!!
