You can't expect to pay for something cheap and gain a premium quality user experience sweat.gif

Well did you perform dust cleaning + thermal repaste on a regualar basis ? If you did it each year or each 6 months, it will probably lower down the temperature. Using a good thermal paste do help. Also try to lower down your games settings to medium or low, the GPU can't support much intense 3D game.

Not much choice for you now, send in for warranty claiming lo.

I own the laptop for 3 months now, send for cleaning and reapply thermal paste for 3 times, each time kena charged rm80, maybe kena scam or what...

And I don't play games on this machine, I only use it for AutoCAD and my assignments lol.....warranty over also liao

any other suggestion to fix? or no choice but to sell it cheap? hahaha

Y400, as in my signature biggrin.gif
Probably mine is a 14 inch packed with a Core i7, it could be the cause of the overheats.

My Y480 i7 has been serving me for almost 4 years steady.

You are right on the overheat part but using an external cooling pad should solve this issue.

Did you tell them to use a different thermal paste ? Cause normally they will use the stock thermal paste which is not as effective as other brand.
For AutoCAD, I believe CPU is also a factor here. Well can't expect shared heat pipe model to perform very well in heat management.

this
they might also put too much thermal paste which will act as an insulator instead of helping metal to metal contact

Using Y50 and to me by far the best cooling laptop ive ever used so far. Beat the crap out of my previous laptops, 4830TG, V-Nitro, and also MSI GE-60 2PE aka codename OVEN. laugh.gif

And ive used Y500 before this and it got good cooling capabilities also for its range of hardware. Never exceed 90'C in my previous usage. Maybe thats why the larger the laptop the better the cooling capabilities.

Haha This issue remember me of my friend's lenovo laptop overheating after playing dota... it's so hot that it can really hurt ur hand in matter of just seconds when you touch it... in fact, you can rebus egg on it when it got super hot... so it's good to hear than current Y50 has overcome overheating issue...

And I agree with TS about acer... Previously my last Acer easily last 5 years (heavy usage)... if not the hard disk was faulty, it could last much longer (maybe 7 years+)... and at that time I had no idea what dust cleaning was...hehe

Owned a G485, motherboard died after 4 years due to flooding caused by mineral water bottle, even then it was only defective USB ports.

G40-45, Windows corrupt after 3 months, replaced Win8 Bing with Win 7, smooth sailing now.

Thinkpad T430, 100 celcius when playing GTA IV, though no BSOD or crashing yet, running with Crucial mSATA SSD that i've upgraded myself, so far so good. Keyboard died 3 times because i wanted to try the spill-resistant design and forgot to let it dry properly, though IBM was able to replace them within 3 days on all 3 occassion tongue.gif , though Thinkpad jangan compare with Ideapad aftersales la

You may want to try playing with the "Power Options" If its currently on "High Performance", try changing it to balanced, and play the game to monitor the temp?

The other suggestion is under the "High Performance" go to Advance power settings and change the minimum processor state from 100% to 99%.

Good luck

Haha! Good luck to any future Lenovo owner. Either you take my advice or...you shall waste your hard earned RM3000 on a laptop that gets faulty after 1 year. RM3000 seems like a small amount to people who are working....but in my case, I'm still a university student. And i tried selling away the laptop, highest offer I got is only RM200. Stubborn people who don't want to learn from our mistakes, go ahead and buy and support your Lenovo laptops, good luck going through all these hassle in the near future.

I just found out that I was scammed actually. I sent this laptop to the computer shop to reapply thermal paste but got scammed.

Last night, my brother in law came over and helped to disassemble the whole laptop.

The moment he opened the back casing, he already told me the inside of the laptop looks "virgin". Like never open before, very new
