I received a love letter from LHDN asking me to pay extra 1600 today. When I redo my calculations using my EA forms (from 2 companies since I jumped ship last year) in fact I over estimated my income by 9k.  Is it possible to request to see how they calculated?  Can't help but feel I am being cheated unless I see how they came to that figure.

Yes, call up the LHDN number, check your file location to meet up with the officer. Ask them to show how they calculate the extra 1600. This is your right. Your tax money is used by government to pay their salary.

As long as you have nothing to hide. Just be honest, in case you miscalculate or mis-claim some deductions. They may give leeway instead of penalty/fine. Learn from mistakes also.

i'm applying a new job and they require EPF and Income tax (EA Statement).

I'm just confused whether i would've need to declare my earnings for 2014-yes its too late. but im just not sure. i just thought that my basic was 2.5. never thought and didn't know about e-filing.

i worked with my previous company till february. then i worked freelance for 6 months (salary <RM2000)

now as i research, and just gotten my 2014 EA form , i'm not sure whether i would've need to declare my income.

in my EA Form the part b- gaji kasar= 30k

"jumlah for C"is around 40K.

i'm paranoid now that i may be fined for not declaring.
i don't know how this work, the forms are confusing.

Questions
1.what do i need to do now?
2.do i report to LHDN immediately or wait till next year to declare my 2014 or 2015 earnings?since i will be submitting the TP3 form as well to the new company then will be submitted to LHDN
3.how is the fine calculated for late declaration?

please help.

You can continue to submit, then if get audited, just tell them you lost that receipt, say sorry politely and you just need to pay that's amount X your tax bracket.
Few times already I been on this(with intention) laugh.gif

But, the bad is they may audit your past 7 years records, this is something really can make you headache shocking.gif

Nope, worst case just say that receipt missing and pay that rm40's tax bracket, case closed.
As said, a word sorry and admit is your mistake is the best way to prevent you from getting penalty.

Yes, in fact 3 times already. That's why I dare to say so icon_rolleyes.gif
Nope, like my tax bracket is 26%, I just need to pay rm10.40 for that rm40's receipt that are lost.
But set back is, they will start digging past 7 years record. Like you get love letter for 2014's tax audit, they will dig till 2008's record.
And they will also monitor you for another 1-2 years.
So is not that nice to get audited.

Hi

Just got a letter from LHDN for my income tax for YA 2006 (yes, so far back).

it was a honest mistake. I forgot to put in the tax claim for computer of RM500 but all my calculation included rm500. cry.gif

question;

1. Can i show them the original receipt of computer to claim rm500 and my calculation so that actually my calculation is correct. Just forgot to write "500" in the column. rclxub.gif

2. I thot under S82 of Income Tax Act, i only need to keep records for the last 7 years. This year 2015, and they track me back to 2016 - already exceeded the 7 year limit ? Can they kacau me even after the 7 year limit? vmad.gif

thank you so much for reading .... notworthy.gif

Holy crap. Missed the payment since July and yesterday was the last day to pay before got fine 10%.

Just paid by now. Today is the 31st day, supposed to pay on 30 days at least.

Can the fine somehow be excluded? Damn worried.
