Federal govt seeks to tighten tax laws, ups fine for those failing to file returns
QUOTE
Those found guilty of not doing so for two years or more can be jailed up to six months, or fined up to RM20,000, or both, according to its proposed amendments to the Income Tax Act 1967 (ITA).

The monetary penalty for those found guilty of doing so for one year is between RM200 and RM2,000, according to the Finance Act 2015 Bill tabled for the first reading to amend the ITA and five other existing tax laws today.

Currently, anyone who fails to furnish a return can only be fined up to RM2,000 — or jailed not more than six months — or both, regardless of the number of years the tax returns were not filed.

The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) will penalise 65,392 company and non-company employers for not submitting the Form E for year of assessment 2014.

Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Mohd Shukor Mahfar said for year of assessment 2014 ended Mar 31, 2015, a total of 476,095 company and non-company employers were registered with the board.

"Of the total, 410,703 employers had filed their tax assessment statements," he said when met after the launch of the National Tax Seminar 2015 here.

Of this number, 280,492 company employers had submitted their Form E, 128,643 of whom used e-filing and 151,849 submitted manually, he said.

The IRB has made it mandatory for company employers to submit their Form E online from year of assessment 2016.

IRB expects RM132bil in taxes in 2016
QUOTE
ts Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukor Mahfar, said the target would also depend on the world's economic condition, especially the fluctuating oil prices.

We are monitoring the situation, considering that RM100bil was collected on Oct 30 under a not favourable economic condition compared to Oct 5 last year," he said.

Mohd Shukor said for this year's collection, the Finance Ministry has also earlier reduced its target from RM142bil to RM130bil because of the fall in oil prices.

Guys.. Need advise..

I've filed my tax return for year 2014 and necessary refunds have been given to me..

Today, I received a letter from them saying that I have Rm1k+ tax unpaid for year 2014..

How is this possible when I've already filed my tax in time and I get refunded for excess tax paid.. And now they telling me I still have unpaid tax for that year
*
that's weird blink.gif guess they "found something fishy". so now u needed to pay up hmm.gif

LHDN gonna use "baucer bayaran" instead of Cheque for those didn't give bank account number for Tax Refund starting 1st April 2016. It's for individual taxpayer only.

What is baucer bayaran? How does it work?
*
u know the previous BR1M payment where u go bank to cash out the baucer. Same like that icon_rolleyes.gif

the person name printed on the baucer bayaran needed to be present & his/her mykad together presented to bank counter nod.gif

LHDN would post the baucer bayaran to your house address. No More cheque

Hello guys,

Government is now running "special promo" for tax evaders, people who doesn't file income tax and those who has understated your income. Better to surrender and pay a penalty as low as 15% - 20% rather than 100% - 400% later. This promo ends Dec 15.

Audit cases 25% - 30% during this "promo" period.
