Thanks, so far the answer I got from here is yes... and no

looks like wrong place to ask, I'll go ask a proper tax consultant.

Thanks for the advice all.

From LHDN portal:

2. Pembayar cukai individu hendaklah menghantar atau mengembalikan BNCP yang telah lengkap diisi pada atau sebelum 30 April bagi tiap-tiap tahun ke alamat berikut;

Pusat Pemprosesan Maklumat

QUOTE
Adakah saya layak dikenakan cukai?

Walau bagaimanapun, mulai Tahun 2015 individu yang mempunyai pendapatan penggajian tahunan melebihi RM34,000 (selepas potongan KWSP) perlu mendaftar fail cukai pendapatan.

Sekiranya pekerja layak dikenakan potongan PCB, pekerja dinasihatkan mendaftar fail cukai pendapatan terlebih dahulu sebelum potongan PCB dibuat.

There's no HARD rule stating that you MUST to declare since it's self assessment.

However, under FAQ:

QUOTE
1. Adakah saya perlu mendaftar nombor cukai pendapatan?

Ya, tuan perlu mendaftar nombor cukai pendapatan sekiranya tuan adalah seorang :
a. Individu berstatus bujang yang menerima pendapatan penggajian melebihi RM34,001 setahun (selepas potongan KWSP)
f. Individu yang menjual/membeli hartanah

Do I Need to Pay Income Tax?

If you are a resident of Malaysia earning :

Above RM34,000 per year (after EPF deductions) or RM2,833. 33 per month (after EPF deductions)
Above RM38,202.25 per year (before EPF deductions) or RM3,183.52 per month (before EPF deductions)

Hey guys, let's say my salary only 3k, I don't have to pay income tax. But do I still need to declare my income?
*
Usually, a malaysian worker would have apart of salary portion, most would have annual bonus, some would also have allowances and extra perks, etc, etc

thus to determine if one is taxable or not...it is best be stated as annual income instead of salary per month

Am I taxable?
..............
with effect year 2015 an individual who earns an annual employment income of RM34,000 (after EPF deduction) has to register a tax file.

If the employee is eligible for STD deduction, he is advised to register an income tax file before STD is implemented.

What should I do if my income is taxable?
Application to register an income tax reference number can be made at the nearest IRBM branch.

Documents Required For Registration
* A copy of the latest Salary Statement (EA/EC Form) or latest Salary Slip
* A copy of Identification card (IC) / police IC / army IC / international passport
* A copy of marriage certificate (if applicable)

You can also register an Income Tax reference number via e-Daftar

http://www.hasil.gov.my/bt_goindex.php?bt_...sequ=2&bt_lgv=2

so ask,....
does your total annual employment income for that year amount to RM34,000 (after EPF deduction)? ...if YES, then has to register a tax file.
do you eligible for the STD deduction?...if YES, then has to register a tax file before the STD is implemented.

Else one MAY not need to declare......

YES...to this decision.... thumbup.gif

As far as i know, receipt has to be under the taxpayer name then only is entitled for the tax relief.

But your above quote it states "for self, spouse, or child" no need to mention that as long as we have the receipt right?

You can buy for self, spouse or child, but receipt has to be under taxpayer name for tax relief purpose.

In that case they shouldnt have even mention spouse/child.

As long as the receipt under my name I just claim, even if its a laptop for my dog...

Or better yet, ask for receipts with no name attached... hmm.gif

Shouldn't corporate tax need inputs from certified professionals?
