Well on the plus side, its a 6-pin connector, not 8 pin like the 1070's. My take is that the Radeons will cap at 150W but the GeForces will sip a minimum of 150W.

Also I have a sneaking suspicion that most of the AIBs for nVidia will sell Pascal with 8+6pin as it looks like the GeForces seem to throttle a lot and not able to sustain its boost clocks for long gaming sessions. This means that the AIB GeForces wont be sitting at 150~180W as the Founder Edition cards.

Polaris on the other hand, I believe wont throttle as much.

so, founders edition is cherry picked ? icon_idea.gif

This is such a... messy time. Dunno what words to describe.

What I needs : 1440p gaming. Hardware to support my occasionally rendering needs - which is CUDA. So 1070 seems like the way to go but it's ~MYR2000 a pop.

Now RX 480... ~MYR1000, while seems geared more towards 1080p gaming, but stack another one into crossfire and you get GTX1080's performance at ~MYR2000!! (if only the game support of course). But if I choose this, I will forsake my rendering needs - which I need to wait for software update to support OpenCL in the future.

So, with MYR2000 on hand...
getting a GTX1070 8GB is already a HUGE upgrade from my current 280X.
If RX 480 - it needs to be in PAIR to consider as HUGE upgrade... (4GB variant).

Damn... damn... damn... what to do? To jump or not to jump cry.gif

Hmm to get 4gb version or 8gb, as both of them all damn affordable.

The R9 Nano throttles a lot too. Hopefully AMD doesn't repeat the mistake on this RX480.

By the way, I like the cooler that's bigger than the card itself. So eager for Sapphire TriXX 3-fan-cooler on this card.

But so far AMD is using
R7 - low and mid range
R9 - high end

Maybe they think the card will sell better with more X's (like NVIDIA GTX).

I'll get what i need that fits my budget. Green or Red doesn't matter at all. and I'll avoid CF/SLI as well. 1 GPU FTW.
now just announce 480, still got 480X and 490(X) series. it won't hurt if you wait abit longer in which most budget user will do so.

n i fking just WC my 290 mega_shok.gif now load <60C. dayuum freaking nice compare to 83C (tri-x) in SF V bangwall.gif

By the time rx480 hits the market, green camp already pushing 1060 to negate the advantage of rx480. To me, timing is important... if amd floods 480 to market way before the nvidia, nvidia has no choice but to lower 1070 price to counter this.

Polaris launches June 29th while 1070 launches officially 7th.
At this rate, I don't think the 1060 is rolling out anytime soon, since rumor has it that the 1060 is a cut down 1070 too........so unless TSMC is shiit at manufacturing 14nm, I don't think we're gonna be seeing that many 1060s anytime soon biggrin.gif

previously its <75C before i dismantle to clean it but weird sweat.gif

i just make my whole rig goes under water and get an used EK block for my r290 since i don't game that much and only eye Vega/Volta for my next upgrade.
