I think they fixed it for the retail cards  though you can't 100% fix a coil whine.
*
the fix is only for the furyX water pump.

I'm planning to get a 390 for GTA V gaming. Can it achieve 60fps stutter-free at ultra quality (including advanced settings such as grass and view distance to max at AA too) at 1080p/60Hz?

To the R9 Nano users out there,
does your Nano ever experience thermal throttling? How's the fan noise to maintain max performance (without thermal throttling) in our hot weather?

After reading hardocp review 1 & review 2 , I'm disappointed.

QUOTE
Do note, even with the cooler temperatures the video card still cannot maintain a flat line of 1000MHz due to power limits. The TDP is the limiting factor, not temperature. This is what we have learned from this.

Looks like the Nano can only achieve the rated clock speed at 100% fan & +50 power boost.

Nothing beats R9 Nano eh? But that thing is expensive as hell shakehead.gif

Nano is about RM2700. Same price as a Fury.
I wanna buy Nano, but after reading all the reviews, it seems Nano is unable to reach its 1000 MHz at stock setting. It's designed to be throttled to maintain the TDP, which is stupid. And the hot temperature here is making it worse. The next logical choice is the Fury, although with a huge increase in card size and power.

Hardware nowadays feels boring. No more crazy overclocking on cheap PSU/mobo/RAM and stock HSF sad.gif

Many years ago , RM600 can buy u a decent, overclock champion, rock stable board. Now, a mid range Z170 board is about RM900. Asrock is the exception here with its OC Formula which is RM800 cheaper than Asus best board.
But still, the price of computer has increased.

25xx.
I haven't seen 24xx yet.
How's Nano fan noise while gaming?

That's more or less the same temperature on my ASUS STRIX R9 390 when playing games
Then I proceeded to remove the stock thermal paste (ASUS use too much!) then replace it with Arctic MX4, temperature drops 8°C. From 98°C to 90°C

Note: ASUS Malaysia allows doing these on their graphic cards (as long as there are no physical damage):
1. Change thermal paste
2. Change to better heatsink
3. Use liquid cooling

On high load, all 3 fans spins just fine but the temperatures is still at 90°C on load
Hence the reason why I change to PowerColor Devil R9 390X with it's AIO liquid cooler
Now my load temperature never exceeds 70°C. Idle at 42°C. No air-cond in the room

I guess air-cooling is not suitable for R9 390 & 390X
Especially with the current hot weather in Malaysia sweat.gif
*

In US, people bitch about their graphics card at 80°c. Meanwhile in here, we're getting 90-100 (and throttled). Looks like these AMD are not suitable to be marketed here. Just like the FX9590. It seems water cooling is a MUST for these mid to high end cards.
Sigh... AMD and nvidia ignored the poor and hot countries.

Anyone using Fury X here? How's the water pump noise?
Are the ones locally sold here from the 1st batch?

With the close proximity to the PSU, is that Nano not receiving enough cool fresh air?
