QUOTE(zheilwane @ Apr 11 2016, 04:15 PM) 1) 3M - cannot filter bacteria, and amount of carbon block very little, contaminants reduction definitely not as good as those with 2 - 3 carbon block cartridges. I cut open 3M AP Easy complete before and the media inside is much smaller, compared to the size of the cartridge. Thanks Zheilwane for the explanation, what is your opinion on Culligan IC-EZ-4 water filter?2) Panasonic with 0.1 micron, can filter bacteria but using granular carbon not carbon block and since it is a 3 in 1 filter, amount of carbon and membrane will be very little, high chances of clogging for area with dirty water supply and do not have an outdoor filter. Ability to filter VOCs, chlorine and etc might not last for 1 year but we wont be able to know. 3) Coway - only membrane no carbon, membrane is not really effective in filtering contaminants like VOCs and chlorine as suggested online, even RO filters with 0.0001 micron also need carbon filter. These 3 models have their own pros and cons. Since budget is limited, if you let me choose i will get panasonic. |

If we add a pre filter before panasonic, then will it help significantly?2) Panasonic with 0.1 micron, can filter bacteria but using granular carbon not carbon block and since it is a 3 in 1 filter, amount of carbon and membrane will be very little, high chances of clogging for area with dirty water supply and do not have an outdoor filter. QUOTE(kwchan_7 @ Apr 12 2016, 05:56 PM) Culligan just single cartridge carbon block, so cannot filter bacteria also. Dont know how is the inside, never cut it open, could be similar to 3M AP easy complete. For jus a single cartridge filter = basic filter = best to boil. Here is a sample of what is inside the filters. I also got shock, when i c carbon block size in AP easy complete. ![]() This post has been edited by zheilwane: Apr 12 2016, 10:35 PM |

QUOTE(junfu1988 @ Apr 12 2016, 06:42 PM) From online research minimum you need a 0.2 micron filtration to filter bacteria. Based on online reviews and research the 3 popular brands 1) Aquaphor - Crystal Eco (RM 1500) 2) 3M - DWS 2500 (Estimated RM 2600-2900) 3) Amway - Espring (Estimated RM 3k+) |

QUOTE(JC999 @ Apr 12 2016, 10:04 PM) Prefilter can prolong the life of the main filter and also prevent clogging but need to clean regularly. However, due to the small amount of granular carbon in the filter, we wouldnt know how long it could last in filtering contaminants like chlorine, may b can only last 3 months or 4 months, we wouldnt know unless we get a chlorine tested to test, so best to boil. Saw this video when i was researching on water filter, think it is kinda useful, there are several other related videos also posted by this guy. https://youtu.be/NFzminf8L1Q Info explain in several of his videos 1) Tested RO membrane 0.0001 micron (80% chlorine just pass through it), so just one membrane filter alone is not good enough, must mix membrane and carbon block 2) The more the amount of carbon block, higher the capacity to filter chlorine. Some can last 4 months some 6 months, depending on the quality of the block. 3) Different area got different water problem, no1 will test what is in their water supply, so just buy the best filter to be safe. Many of my customers actually upgraded to Aquaphor Crystal Eco as they are not happy with cleaning the ceramic filter and worry on the water quality. Bought Aquaphor Crystal Eco from bro Zheilwane. Friendly guy to deal with, courier the item to Labuan somemore.
Installed the filter in the livingroom, connecting to own water dispenser instead of the tap. See the pic. Previously using the local 5 gal water bottle. After changing over, the water tastes really fresh and pure from Aquaphor! Quite satisfied with it. Thanks bro! Attached thumbnail(s) |
