Previously :

MBB2 amex pays my
- Utilities (TnB & TMB) 5%
- Phone (Digi Prepaid) 5%
- Petrol 5%
- Touch n Go 5%

CIMB CR
- Utilities (astro) 5%

Now I guess I will change to :

MBB Ikhwan
- Petrol 5%
- Groceries (Touch n Go & Digi Prepaid)[Both reload at Jaya & Aeon Big] 5%
CIMB CR
- Utilities (astro) 5%
- Utilities (TnB & TMB) 2% <- still figuring out how to make it happen
So the only one that will lost my rebate is:
- Cukai Pintu
- Etiqa Insurance

CIMB CR
- Utilities (astro) 5%
- Utilities (TnB & TMB) 2% <- still figuring out how to make it happen

SI/Autopay/Autodebit on TNB will give 2%

TM bill is unsure.

maybe this is their strategy. they know people might resort to get the card via FD pledging. so in the end, this turns out to be a shrewd calculative move.

Actually for 5% CB on Petrol & Groceries, Ikhwan MC is better than VS on:

- Ikhwan MC got TP, VS don't have
- Ikhwan MC can get free holiday, VS don't have

- VS has higher CB capped compare to Ikhwan MC.

They won't be able to "profit" those money though. All these while they charge AMEX merchant 3% of their transaction. And from July, this figure will drop to 1%.  That 2% lost is astronomical! Imagine the value of AMEX transactions per day in Malaysia. How much is it worth? I am sure it is millions .

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jun 27 2015, 09:50 AM)
Giving back 5% and getting income from 3% .That is already a loss for them. (Only on weekends.)
However on normal days, they gain 3%.  tongue.gif

The 3% is not all go to Maybank as issuer bank, there is sharing portion between card issuer bank, pos terminal, american express and etc

Also, the merhant fee is no always 3% and it is depend on volume, transaction type, etc

I believe the merhant fee for petrol stattion is lower.
I confirm for the merhant fee of visa/mastercard for petrol station is lower as I see the settlement bill before and remmember it is below 1%

Still remmember there is incident all petrol station did not accept credit card long time ago for a short duration.
It is becos of high merhant fee and it end up to allow custome rto pump petrol with credit card because the merhant fee is lower for petrol station.

I just posted below at my facebook page:

WTF is wrong with Maybank, I just got back home and found out from you guys that effective 1st August 2015, the once a upon a time wonderful Maybankard 2 Card AMEX 5% weekend cash back has been downgrade to DINING only!!!

Luckily I did not accept Harimau Bank's offer to be their Credit Card Specialist Head with designated Grade X1 back on 1st April 2015. Or else you guys may assumed that I have something to do with the downgraded benefits of Maybank's  credit cards. If you miss the story and really got nothing better to do, click here to read my April Fools Day article.

Well, 5% cash back for dining not that bad as most of us take our family out on weekends.

So for those of you guys who need a credit card for Petrol and Groceries, the good news is Maybank still have 2 other cards that will give you 5% cash back.

Click the link below to read my review of the FREE FOR LIFE Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan Platinum or Gold:

http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/2014/10...ard-ikhwan.html

and if you need FREE access to Plaza Premium Lounge (also please refer to my earlier post below), check out my review of the Maybank Visa Signature where the annual fee is auto waived with RM30K spending:

http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/2014/07...re-another.html

You might also now want to consider AEON Watami Visa Credit Card that will earn you 3% cash back for any transactions subject to terms and conditions. Click the link below to learn more:

http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/2013/11...-card-that.html

Anyway, those of us who have been holding Maybankard 2 AMEX since 2011, some of you would have earned more than RM2K cash back in the last 4 years  biggrin.gif

Just called Maybank to "complain" on the above, seems that it's not yet communicated to the Support Team as they seem clueless on this change laugh.gif

Let's see what they will do, since they have reversed the publications @ website hmm.gif

i was approached by maybank credit card booth today.
when i asked what's the benefit, he told me can get 5% cash back on everything we spend on weekends. until now they are still promoting it, it'll be crazy if someone who just applied get to know that only dining will be getting 5% cashback.

Yes, the Maybankard 2 AMEX with 5% cash back for any type of transactions is still the best card to have even though Maybank inflated their Treats Points recently.

I get 5% cash back at Ippudo, Baskin Robbins and can even be used for 0% installment plan when buying a Rolex!
*
Hmmm...which watch shop allows installment on Rolex? Boleh share?

technically you still can get 5% rebate on everything on weekend.

any additional info of coz you have to read up yourself. I guess they are targeting people who are not aware. you will never know this news if you are not already an existing customer.
