I am also a Maxis user for 8 years.  I'm gonna jump to Digi.  Going to settle my outstanding amount tomorrow, then apply at Digi either tomorrow evening or Sat morning.  There's no contract AFAIK, so if it doesn't work, I can always jump back to Maxis.

Time to change.
The power is in your hands.

Yes, no contract attached. smile.gif

I don't like MNP. now i won't know if my friends are a digi, maxis or celcom user. the rates are different right? MNP is confusing.

Well, that is when you should opt for providers that give one flat call rate like DiGi and Celcom. smile.gif

MNP focuses on giving the best coverage for ur mobile while retaining ur beloved number, not entirely focusing on the packages nor rates.. Everyone will feel a bit confused and affected at the moment, but in the future these telcos will definitely provide wonderful offers...

For postpaid.. maybe a permanent flat rate for ur top 20 numbers from any network (not just flat rate to ur fav 10 numbers of d same network while the rest has standard rate from other network). For prepaid.. maybe we can share our credit to/from any network as well?

I've just received my 1st bill after porting from hotlink (i've used my 012 number for 5years+) to celcom postpaid.. The costs doesnt seem to differ much at all, infact I've been videocalling my gf/family for free since we're under 1+5 plan.. MNP is great!

i found this

Celcom front-runner in MNP, says source
By Goh Thean Eu Published: 2008/10/16

CELCOM (Malaysia) Bhd - the country's second largest mobile operator - appears to be taking an early lead from the mobile number portability (MNP).

During a trial of the MNP between August 29 and September 15, a total of 12,000 mobile phone users switched to a new operator without having to change their existing mobile phone numbers.

"About half of them ported to Celcom," said an industry source.

Celcom chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly declined to comment on how many users ported to its network during the trial.

The lead Celcom is enjoying could be evaporated overnight, however, as a few thousand subscribers are relatively insignificant in a market that has more than 25 million customers.

Mobile operators were generally happy over the launch of MNP, as it gives them the opportunity to woo rivals' customers.

"It gives mobile users the freedom of choice," said DiGi.Com Bhd CEO Johan Dennelind after the launch in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Maxis Communications Bhd CEO Sandip Das expects the company to remain the market leader post MNP.
"Why should I be worried (about MNP)? All this while, the consumers have made us the number one brand," Das said.

Competition got more intense as soon as the Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor launched MNP in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

and another news,

MNP a concern for DiGi despite attractive dividends

PETALING JAYA: Blue chip cellular operator DiGi.Com Bhd’s dividend yields continue to be attractive, and the company has proven to be resilient but the impact of the newly introduced mobile number portability (MNP) on its margins is a concern, analysts said.

The government recently introduced the MNP that allows mobile phone users to switch companies without changing their cellular numbers.

OSK Investment Research said DiGi had performed well in the past nine months compared with its peers despite the tough operating environment.

DiGi posted RM3.58bil in revenue for the nine months ended Sept 30 (FY08), up 12% from the previous corresponding period.
“DiGi’s nine-month results were in line with consensus and our expectations,” said OSK analyst Jeffrey Tan.
“We are encouraged by the continuing strong elasticity effect from its value positioning strategies, driving the decent sequential revenue growth.” he said.

Tan, who has a “buy” call on the stock, noted that a special 78 sen per share dividend had been declared by DiGi, in keeping with the company’s plan to return excess cash.

“Our FY08 (forecast) has been left unchanged, while FY09/10 forecasts have been trimmed by 1% to 2%.
“Hence, our target price falls to RM25.90 from RM26.30,” Tan said.
But DiGi remains OSK’s top choice for exposure to Malaysian telco stocks.

“We believe DiGi lacks catalysts despite a dividend yield of 8% as we are concerned about the impact of mobile number portability-led competition on its margins,” an analyst with CIMB Research said.

The CIMB analyst has a “neutral” recommendation on the stock with a 2008 target price of RM24 and RM27 for 2009.
DiGi chief executive officer Johan Dennelind had said the company remained cautiously optimistic of its growth momentum.

“Although we expect increased price competition to exert pressure on core tariffs and margins, we believe over time higher voice and advanced data usage will lead to continued revenue growth,” Dennelind said in a recent statement.

“We see opportunities to further generate revenues in the medium to long-term with the newly introduced MNP and the impending launch of our third generation mobile broadband offerings early 2009.” he added.

On the special dividend payout, Dennelind said: “The decision to proceed with the special dividend was taken in view of DiGi’s strong cashflow.
“This is also a logical step forward toward fulfilling our commitment to have an optimal capital structure.”

DiGi’s share price fell 5.86% to close at RM20.90 yesterday, which analysts attributed to poor market sentiment.

my comment, well this is just statistic during trial period.. by the way, as we all know there are lot of digi supporter and fan in lowyat.net that is why all thread and post showing that everyone swithing to digi.. but out there, there are majority mobile user who dont have internet access, or maybe dont like spending time at any forum.. so we could not figure out the exact situation.. furthermore, celcom still own the widest coverage in malaysia...

it just my 2 cents thougt.. maybe other have different view...

Actually I don't really care who leads the MNP market be it Celcom or DiGi but definitely not Maxis. sleep.gif
