between porting from hotlink to xpax or umobile.. which is wiser/cheaper? currently living/working in alor star and i cant get a blardy 3G coverage in my own house with hotlink.. but celcom always showing 3G.. havent tried umobile's 3G coverage yet (does umobile has 3G?)..

coz what im seeing at the moment is, we all know our friend's numbers come from which telco (according to their prefix) or whoever we call for that matter... but later when most/everyone changes their telco via MNP, we wont know, and thus the charges will differ anyway..

seems majority is going towards digi with its obvious promo packages.. hmm.gif

if im not mistaken.. when u add someone regardless of the telco he/she is using, ur FnF will auto detect and add then to the available slot/list..

if lets say u've alrdy set ur 4 additional FnF numbers, and decided to add a DiGi number (but unaware it's celcom network) to ur remaining 11 digi slot numbers.. im sure it will notify u dat u cant add due to the number ure tying to add is not a DiGi number, and that ur 4 FnF slots are full..

If the system can automatically determine then why we have option for DiGi and non-Digi number when we want to add using *128#  ???
*
i said IF im not mistaken tongue.gif im also wondering how these guys really operate in terms of auto sorting/notifying, or u manually have to choose DiGi or non-DiGi numbers etc.. mayb right now u hav d option to choose but i bet in d future it will sort automatically rather than we users hav to waste time finding out d real telco behind each number we wanna add.. lets juz wait n see how these things go..

non-DiGi numbers in d FnF list dont get d same discounts as DiGi FnF numbers right? if those non-DiGi numbers dont get d same discount, then it seems pointless to add them in d first place.. it's as if ure juz bookmarking them. but if got discount (or at least cheaper than normal rate) then it's ok larr..

basically... any prepaid/postpaid can switch to any prepaid/postpaid on any telco network. supposedly switching is FREE upon registration, but maybe those who switch to maxis might be charged RM25? (not sure).

my celcom postpaid simcard has been activated today, exactly 3days as promised. my hotlink gave 3 'goodbye' sms this morning.. tongue.gif finally can get 3G coverage (to make video calls) from my room.. rclxms.gif

Anyone noticed ? Maxis is probably the only provider who's not responding to attract subscribers. Digi, Celcom and even U Mobile are doing something but not Maxis.

of course everyone reads the TOS and TnC, only a few that read between the lines.. even after i read it, i still want to hear what the dealer has to say from his/her understanding. i believe there should be at least 2 sets of TOS and TnC been given to everyone.. one set is related to the MNP process/procedure, and the other is for the plan/package that u registered.

i believe all telcos have informed prior to porting that u shud clear any unsettled bills or else the process might be delayed, or even rejected.

about the DiGi delivery, i think it is stated somewhere on their site that the simcard delivery is FOC.

MNP focuses on giving the best coverage for ur mobile while retaining ur beloved number, not entirely focusing on the packages nor rates.. Everyone will feel a bit confused and affected at the moment, but in the future these telcos will definitely provide wonderful offers...

For postpaid.. maybe a permanent flat rate for ur top 20 numbers from any network (not just flat rate to ur fav 10 numbers of d same network while the rest has standard rate from other network). For prepaid.. maybe we can share our credit to/from any network as well?

I've just received my 1st bill after porting from hotlink (i've used my 012 number for 5years+) to celcom postpaid.. The costs doesnt seem to differ much at all, infact I've been videocalling my gf/family for free since we're under 1+5 plan.. MNP is great!

Anyone getting a "Sim Card registration failed." message on their phone after porting to Celcom recently? Got it a few times these few days, and the 3G signal goes on and off once in a while... is Celcom undergoing maintenance at the moment?

Hotlink -> Celcom Postpaid
The first few weeks after porting was great. 3G speed was excellent.. surfing, youtube, videocalls, all worked like a charm. Recently, I encountered a few errors which I believe caused by the simcard..

1. "SIM card registration failed".
When this is displayed (random times), I can't make any outgoing calls, sms/mms, internet, etc. and leaves me no choice but to restart my phone.

2. Outgoing SMS/MMS
Everytime I send an SMS/MMS, I see the 'sending progress icon' on my phone.. but longer than usual.. only to find out that every SMS/MMS I send will be in the outgoing box with the status "Resend at *time*". When this happens, I have to resend a few times just to get it through.. but that doesn't solve it entirely. The receiver might get my SMS/MMS late (hours, sometimes tomorrow), or worse, never. I tested sending an SMS/MMS to myself, it never came. Temporary solutions.. (a) I miscall someone, e.g. home (for the purpose of 'waking up the simcard'), then I can send an SMS/MMS at one shot.. or (b) restart the phone.

*sigh* The first few weeks was really awesome.. but then came this stupid error. It's not that my phone is faulty bcoz I've tried my fren's simcards on my phone, all worked well.. and I even tried my simcard on their phone, and still my simcard is giving issues. All the settings are correct, I triple checked it. I'm just concerned that my SMS/MMS cant be retrieved by the receiver, which is really important incase of emergencies. Oh well, I'll go to Celcom centre for simcard replacement tomorrow..

i just came back from Celcom Centre, Alor Star.. the celcom staff said Celcom has been undergoing major problems for the past 2 weeks, especially during SMS & MMS process (sending fail but receiver got sms, sending deferred, receiving SMS late e.g. 10hours later, etc..) and also network issues (fluctuation in network coverage, including 3G coverage)..

"We will try to clear this major issue a.s.a.p. but for the mean time, most of our customers are going through the same problem.."

In other words = WAIT & SEE. vmad.gif
