Guys... I didn't read through the whole thread as it has already got 18 pages! Ha, ha.

My dear father is using Celcom prepaid, and all the while I'm the one who has been reloading it for him. He exhausts his credit very quickly and keeps reloading, doesnt have any extras, etc. I would want to port his number over to Digi.

The question is: If he wants to port over to Digi, does he need to go over to Celcom to cancel the line first, or go straight to Digi?
*
If he cancels the line he will lose the number. He should go straight to Digi and they will initiate the process.

With MNP, how do the telcos track the expired prepaid numbers?

Let's just say I have a Hotlink prepaid number 012-0000000.
If this number is expired, Maxis will resell this number after 6 months.

If I MNP this number to Digi and this number is expired.
Can Maxis recover this number after 6 months?
How do they know?
It is not in their database anymore.
Does it means that this number belongs to Digi now and Digi can resell it after 6 months?

They have a clearinghouse database, which stores all the numbers that have been ported to other telco. They probably have their own database of numbers in use and numbers ported.

If I'm not mistaken, it is possible after 6 months of converting to postpaid. That is what they told me when I change to postpaid.

Anyone here has converted to Celcom? The earlier posted mentioned most operators did not collect the porting fees but no mention about Celcom.

Can anyone confirm this ?
