Hi all.
I am planning to go to Bangkok in July. The main purpose is to go shopping! We four ladies are planning to go to Platinum Mall, Central World Plaza, Pratunam Market and MBK..Basically pratunam area!
Any nice budget hotel to stay around? Budget from RM100 to RM140.
Was planning either
1) Baiyoke Boutique Hotel
2) First House Hotel
3) Grand Watergate Hotel

Which of these is the most strategic??

First Hotel will be yr cheapest and also near to Pratunam

when i stayed in bkk the only reason i go to paragon was for the kinokunya, food court and to look at cars hahahah. nothing there actually unless you got a huge bank account then can go shopping at the tons of designer shops like kedai runcit jimmy choo.

Don't agree. It's true that, it's not an interesting place. Go there though. Make it a "AT LEAST I WENT THERE ONCE" thingie.

Just treat it like u 1st time in KL loh..for 6 days, for me I try avoid too many days in bangkok. Allocate 1 day each to Damnoen Saduak & another to Ayuthaya.. Pattaya probably another options.

The other 3 days..Shoppings & temples visiting in Bkk-lah.. biggrin.gif

Added on January 26, 2010, 7:22 amWell, Siam Paragon is part of MBK shopping belt..anyway those going to that area for sure can't miss it esp directly at the Skytrain station..For me, masuk..look see..all expensive thigies, go down food court..ate lunch passing by the aquarium but decided not to enter..bcos so expensive & just walk thru to Siam mall & thereafter MBK..which is much more varieties & cater for bargain hunter...I will suggest MBK for real shopping rather than Siam Paragon unless those rich & famous.. biggrin.gif

I know this is above what you have planned but if you ladies are hard-core shopper then do give it a thought. My suggestion is Pathumwan Princess which is part of MBK. It cost us about RM250 nett per room thru travel agent. We work out the savings on taxis and sky train can go towards a better room and mainly location. It is like shopping in mid-valley and staying in the Cititel upstairs. The convenience of able to sent shopping bags up to your room any time, shop the whole day, be the first shopper when the shop opens and shop till the shops close!
And not to mention all major shopping complexes are reachable via the sky walk. laugh.gif

WOW!RM250 is expensive! If you shop whole day, u hardly stay in the room or hotel. anyway different people has different preferences.Besides the places that they are heading to...they gonna take taxis. So it cost even more. If they were to stay any of the hotels that they have suggested, it is all within walking distance. MBK will be more expensive to shop compare to Pratunam & Platinum.

True...RM250 is very expensive!! I thought about First House Hotel as well but when I go to Sawadee.com to look at the reviews, it seems that there are more negative opinions than positive...issit really that bad?
Coz that hotel is quite strategic as all the shopping malls are just opposite and we can just walk over!

I have personally stayed there during my first trip to BKK way back 2002 n I personally don't like d hotel either n I hate hotel room with carpets cos is dirty if they don't clean it well or shampoo it once a while. D room looks dull.To me is not worth d money I pay. And cost more than RM100.A lot of M'sian stay there. Well, I will tvl to BKK almost every year n I paid only 700 THB @ Watana Mansion located at Ratchadapisek. They r not 5 star but a service apartment which is clean & cheap. Rooms r not carpeted which I like. I tvl around with MRTA & BTS which is a cheap way of travelling n jam free. I will shop from 10am till 12 or 1am then only i will go back. Tis service apartment is very near to JJ market by using MRTA.

Perhaps you could try Citin Pratunam Hotel if u wan around Pratunam/Platinum area Check out various site to seek for the best rate..like agoda, sawasdee,hotelthailang...etc

Good luck!

Damnoen saduak is the floating market. It's about 110km South western side of Bangkok. Ayuthay is about 100km North of bKK...& Pattaya ~180km South east of BKK..

If u decided on Pattaya, probably need to overnite there.
