BKK is very safe. What you see in the media @ CNN News or the local news @ STAR, Straits Times are totally mis-reported. The previous riots are only on certain places and other places are normal and business as usual. This can be verified by one of the forumer here (that i met) when she and her frens was here recently.

Bangkok to Pattaya ... if u drive average 110-120 km/h, you should reach in less than 1.5hr
Dun think is like KL-JB ... is more like KL-Melaka.

actually you can rent a van for around THB1600-2000 (depend new/old/type of van) per day excluding petrol + toll.
this will b very convenient cos the van will able to bring you around in Pattaya for local Thau restaurant + Jomtien beach + interesting places.

as i said earlier... u need to tell me what is ur budget for hotels ?
if i assume u are going to pray at Four Face Buddha ... is very convenient as the place located next to BTS Chidlom station. Again ... where u want to pray ? Issit Wat Po, Wat Phra Kaew or Wat Hua Lamphong ??/

of course not there lar. Take the MRT subway to Lumpini station; the market is near Lumpini Park, a short walk from the station.

U can try tis one. is near where u r heading to..Platinum, Pratunam etc...all walking distance.I usually stay the other one called Watana Mansion which is nearer to chatuchak.

I stayed for the 1st time in Bangkok City Inn (Pratunam) during my trip to BKK in March 09.

The location is superb for shopping in  Pratunam - Platinum Mall, Partunam Centre, City Complex, Baiyoke Garment Centre, Centreworld shopping, centrepoint shopping

Please go to tripadvisor under hotels in bangkok..i do post a review of this hotel with pics...you can oso read reviews by others (of course you will find mixed reviews) but i stayed there before and my experience was a good one..

shud be enuf if u dun do much of shopping n if u do in supermarkets, use credit cards.all major cards r accepted.I guess all d rooms r already prepaid. However do check with yr bank whether any overseas transaction fee. I know direct access does charge 1%.Do keep yr bank posted where u r heading to, the dates if u r going to use the particular card

Hey, that's d way to go lar.Enjoy the river taxi ride.It won't take long lar.Less than 20 mins for the boat ride.Becareful while ealking towards the grand palace, there r many cheaters along d way telling u the palace is close and want to twkae u for a ride 2 some other temples n charge u a bOMB

Check tis place. I stayed at watana mansion everytime I am there.However it depends on where u wanna go.If u want around platinum,pratunum go for city suite

Yeah, I've stayed at Baiyoke Sky too... Average on the rooms but the view was fantastic as i stayed at 65th floor!

The one thing in common of all 4 stars & above hotels in Bangkok are the Breakfast provided are SUPERB! yummy!

I've been there quite a number of times but intend to plan another visit soon!

sorry, i meant they no longer collect the airport tax at the airport.
ridiculous idea. i almost got stuck at the airport in manila last time cause they do the airport tax thing. bleh.
