The prepaids are all pretty much similar.  I used 12call(AIS) when I was there.  For calls I really would suggest using IDD call cards.  They are just as easy to get as prepaids. You can even register the IDD card to your mobile number, just like iTalk.  So you only need to register once, call the number and you'll just have to hit the number you want to dial.

Using pre-paid to make overseas calls.. well, you would be reloading quite a bit then, so you might as well use an IDD card to save the troubles.  But if you insist.. then well, I think whatever provider you get from wouldn't matter if you can afford to fork that much.

Is there also a prepaid mobile phone for calling within Siam? Lets say call friend and stuff. What company would you rekomen

Errr... yeah, the pre-paids are just like KL's. Digi, maxis etc. You can make calls from them. I'm just saying its best to use IDD cards for overseas call.

For pre-paid, been using 12Call. Happy isn't bad either and rather big/popular.

I've been there but I went by a friend's car. I know there are taxis going to Ayutthaya, maybe you can hire a taxi for the trip coz the historical sites are spread out in many different areas of Ayutthaya. If you hire a taxi maybe the driver can drive you from site to site...

Don't know the answers to the rest but definitely worth going. You can purchase a thin booklet about Ayutthaya when you're there, it's very cheap. You can see all the different historical sites in Ayutthaya Historical Park. If you can't/don't want to go to all sites, you can refer to the booklet, select and go to the ones that interest you.

Hi PPL,

Have any of you been in Bangkok during Songkran (Water Festival)? Will we have to take precautions with luggage and clothes starting right from the airport? What was hotel check in like?

Hi, I'll be going to Bangkok next month and since we'll reach there on a Sunday, we are planning to go straight to Chatuchak once we reached. How much will taxi cost from airport to Chatuchak? Any specific place to get a metered cab at airport?

Is 2K for 2 person for 5 days enough? Flights and accomodation already paid.

2k is more than enough i reckon. In fact i'm trying to survive for 5 days for Rm300-400 only.

Not much of a shopping person myself LOL.

Not sure if my question was clear in last post -- during Songkran, will Thais throw water at you at the airport and while checking into the hotel? Once inside, can change and get ready....
