Hi, I'll be going to Bangkok next month and since we'll reach there on a Sunday, we are planning to go straight to Chatuchak once we reached. How much will taxi cost from airport to Chatuchak? Any specific place to get a metered cab at airport?

Is 2K for 2 person for 5 days enough? Flights and accomodation already paid.

Not much of a shopping person myself LOL.

top 10 scams in bangkok, pls be aware smile.gif

1. The Grand Palace is Closed Scam - This scam can happen near any tourist attraction but still happens a lot outside the Grand Palace. As you approach, someone will tell you that the palace is closed for various reasons. Ignore them as you will end up in either a gem store or a tailor shop.

3. Wrong Change Scam - A common scam at places like 7-Eleven and Family Mart in tourist areas is to give you change as if you gave them a 500 baht note instead of a 1,000 baht note. Many tourists are not familiar with Thai money and often give the wrong money or don't notice that their change is incorrect. Most shops will say out loud the denomination of any paper money you give them. Check your change!

7. Long Distance Bus Scam - Many people have had things stolen from their bags on overnight bus trips. Some have even reported they were drugged and found their money missing when they woke up.

8. Airport Taxi Scam - Official looking touts will pretend that they are meter taxis and tell you that it is 500-1000 baht to go into town. The meter taxi outside is less than half this. The police have tried to crack down on them but they are back. Ignore anyone who asks if you want a taxi. The real taxi drivers are waiting outside by their cars.
Ya, I have read all these cases in Virtual Tourist shakehead.gif

We're planning on going to Ayutthaya (ancient city) and River Kwai (Death railway) (on different day, of course), but wondering how far are they from Bangkok and what's the best way to get there? I have read some tour to go there but nearly RM200 per person doh.gif

Hi all....

Im travelling to Bangkok this May.... So i have done abit of homework, and looked up some places to stay... Need some opinion...

1. Take a nap- silom district (1150baht)
Adv: looks pretty to me, and near night market (suan lom??)
Disad: red light??

2. Suk 11- sumkhumvit (900 baht)
Adv: cheap, good feedback
Disad: No place to jalan jalan at night... sad.gif

3. Wendy house- siam square (1100 baht)
Adv: nice location
Disad: not exactly pretty but feedback only seems good

Please correct me if any info above is wrong... And feel free to add on the adv and disad
Any comment guys??
I would like to choose place where night time can jalan-jalan nearby, near to public transport...

Thank you!! Looking forward to holidays!!!

Btw: are all the 3 districts near to each other??

Just got back from BKK last week (and got toasted by the heat). My advise to you is to stay near to BTS/MRT, cause the traffic jam is really teruk. Siam area, you'll have Siam Paragon, Square and Discovery which sells mostly branded stuffs but cross the road you'll get to MBK, one of the hottest mall in BKK. Siam area very jammed but luckily it have 2 BTS station near it.

It's the Baiyoke Sky Hotel. The observation deck (indoor) is on 77th floor and revolving deck (open air) is on top ( i forgot how many floors liao). Wow.. the wind was strong that night we visited it. Remember to take the special lift from 77th when going down.

Click here for video clip i took in the lift
Do ignore the spanish/russian/european couple's conversation who took the same lift with us.

yup, the revolving deck, is in baiyoke hotel @ sukhumvit.

you need to pay entrance fees tho. (i think should be 200 baht per person)

It's in Pratunam. I think it's around that price. We visit for free as we dine there.

Anyone been ot the buffet dinners in Baiyoke Sky? Those at the top of the hotel.. How much is it now?
*
Normal rate (as per 2.3.2009) is 940Baht per person. If you stay in its hotels - Baiyoke Sky Hotel, Baiyoke Suite or Baiyoke Boutique, it's 50% discount. We dine there, but was very dissappointed with the food and selections. Maybe you can try their another buffet at Crystal Grill at 620B (for hotel customers' price).

My dinner at Baiyoke buffet on 2.3.2009

I've managed to walk from Pratunam Market to Platinum Mall, Siam Central, MBK but Suan Lum is not in that area.
