anybody managed to open esmartsaver successfully?

i applied online but got a sms a few days later saying my application cannot be processed and advising me to open at a branch.

today, i went to main branch to open esmartsaver but they said esmartsaver cannot be opened at branch and has to be done online.

ocbc malaysia is really f*cked up in their ebanking initiative. does anyone know if their customer service is on twitter? dont want to pay extra phone charges to call their 1300 number...

Why bother? Put 200k each at HSBC, 300k at OCBC, you have PB status in 2 foreign banks.

Well put: annoying relationship manager. rclxms.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Actually one add'l bonus is the gift that comes with it. With CB, I once got an imported branded Swiss watch. UOB got a gold plated plaque. biggrin.gif

Nice, the 4% interest rate for OCBC e-SmartSavers account is on par with that of fixed deposit account, without the need to hold the deposit for more than 6 months (a requirement for fixed deposit).

1) I have OCBC Easisave Saving Account and access to OCBC Internet Banking. If I have opened and activated OCBC e-SmartSavers account, can I access this account via Internet Banking, and can perform deposit and withdraw money to and from e-SmartSavers account; and transfer between my two OCBC saving account?

2) Is it possible that OCBC may revise 4% interest rate, should there be any change to OPR?

3) Is there an annual fee for this account?
*
Do anyone know the answers to the questions? Thanks for your help. smile.gif

1) should be able to transfer between own accounts using Internet Banking.

Screenshot from Internet Banking > Transfer Fund. Note from screenshot: I only have SmartSavers. sweat.gif

2) OPR change, up to bank's discretion to revise the interest rate.

3) Dont think so. It's an e-account anyway thumbup.gif

Compared to ebanking :

(1) free parking at your own house

(2) Almost-free coffee

(3) No queuing at all

(4) No annoying relationship manager

Except seldom has high FD rate except for few banks like Mach, Alliance etc. But compared to other bank's promo, still slightly lower FD rate. If amount is huge, can be quite substantial different interest returns. biggrin.gif Also limited banks with high eFD rate to spread the eggs. Good for those HNWI people who don't care about the interest. notworthy.gif

Only good, if no time (lazy tongue.gif ) or want to get items 1 to 4 listed above. I do place eFD but only for short term needs where I don't care about the interest rate. biggrin.gif
