Hi guys, so sorry if this is asked previously.

Would like to get a solid answer to my questions below:

Details:
- 2 Pax
- North Facing
- Well Shaded

1. Living Room + Dining + Kitchen (530 sqft) - Should I get a 2.0 or get a 2.5 HP just to be safe?
2. Principal Bedroom (230 sqft) - Should I get a 1.0 or get a 1.5 HP just to be safe?
3. Best rule of thumbs is to multiply per sqft by 25 BTU?
*
1. The placing of your AC is also a consideration. Is it blowing from sliding door to the kitchen and what is the distant between the two longest point. Or is the placing is just on left/right wall blowing around the living area ? Is there any allowance of space for another AC ?

2. Having a next step higher hp will help to control and reach desired temp faster and reduce stress on the compressor....also applicable to 1.

1. The aircon point given is above window at living room, it will blow towards the direction of dining room and kitchen.

Aircon - > Living Room - > Dining Room - > Kitchen

2. Thanks, thumbup.gif better to get 0.5hp more just in case future family expansion.

I dont use chemical to clean ac. Good water pressure will do.

You need to use small brush to access tight corners

Cant avoid the gel. Is normal 'waste' product of using ac like the clogged filters.

Thanks for the advice, recently washed the AC( this time both indoor and outdoor) and the performance issue seems to have improved compared to before washing it

Set the AC to 16C, full fan speed

before: 27-28C the indoor unit fan speed starts slowing down
after: 23-24C the indoor unit fan speed starts slowing down

My room is a 2hp. Temp set at 25. It takes about half hour to cool the room which is consideted good for a landed where the room is normally like oven at night on a hot day.

Once set temp reaches, the compressor will auto cut off as is a non invertor.

Wouldn't a non invertor keep running and stopping in order to hit the temperature set?

Yes....this unit is going 13th year with minimal downtime except for the 3 core wiring giving problem.

I set the off timer at 3am and my ceiling exhaust turn on at 4am and my ceiling fan is on throughout the night.

1. Depending on layout

IF one big one small room like L shaped this can also be achieved with 1x1.0 and 1x1.3.

If one long rectangle and AC at one end,

2.5 hp better if you like to set cold temp <20C,
2.0 hp if y'all cannot tahan cold types that will just set at coldest 25-27C target temp.
Because oversized unit for warmer target temp will not be running long enough to pull humidity out from the room. In this situation a slightly undersized AC is better coz will always run to dehumidify.

The delta (temperature difference) is one consideration also..
if you tend to set 16-18C freezing end then bigger one is better, as undersized aircon will take much longer to achieve target temp (from ambient 33C to 16C is a big temp diff);
If 25 27C target temp, (from ambient 33C to 25C is achievable easily).

2. 1.3hp enough for 230sqft room as long as the walls are not baked in West (evening sun) AND this room is NOT a top floor landed. A quality inverter will suffice.

If the 230sqft room is on Top floor landed OR West facing room need 2hp coz there is a lot of heat soaked in the walls or from the roof.

3. Mostly drawing on what works and what doesn't for known sizing room sizes work better for me - as its really hard to formulate on fixed number.

E.g. Angmoh place calculator underestimate coz their ambient hot day is Msia cold day. Then Msia calculator tend to suggest buying overly huge aircon for cute 3m x 4m bedroom. shakehead.gif

Try to monitor consumption reading between cool mode vs auto mode on panasonic inverter xpu model. Below the pic consumption cool vs auto mode. Notice there is small different usage between them.

depend on brand on model. Some model has different "infrared frequency" for On and Off, yet they shared one "button". Example 1st time press frequency 100hz is On, press again frequency is 200Hz is Off. Shared one button means the frequency is alternating On and Off...

Some model On and Off is same frequency, so AC will operate inversed based on last stage of operation.

Anyway above is not malfunction, your AC is OK

Replace the remote ... if problem remains, then have to call the AC guy.

Or try to test with another pana remote.

I dont think you want it to be the IDU board problem.
