Hi sifus, newbie here.

I have recently bought a Sharp aircon from Lazada to replace my 10+ years old AC, want to confirm with you guys if the aircon will fit my existing piping or not.

My old AC (IDU and ODU doesn't match)
IDU: Toshiba RAS-13YKX
ODU: Upson UAC-N19C (cannot find anything related to this)
BTU: roughly 13000 after converting from kW
Suction line OD: Toshiba spec sheet says 12.7mm (1/2 inch), but I measure my old line is 9.52mm (3/8'). Attached spec sheet as pic below.
Gas: R22, old pipe so I expect thickness is 0.51mm at best.

The AC that I bought on Lazada
Model: Sharp AHA12WCD
BTU: 12390
Gas: R32
Suction line OD: 1/2' from website
https://my.sharp/products/air-care/15hp-r32...tioner-aha12wcd

My original piping is concealed so I really prefer to use back the old line. I am aware that R32 operates at a higher pressure and I am willing to take the risk.
But now the main question is if my original line will fit my new AC set or not? Any advice?
*
Existing old AC pipes will somehow fit new AC given that they have been expanded to fit 12.61mm dia of the old AC; although not that optimal because pipe size not as per mfg spec.
WCS is the old piping gave up and leak only. I think the copper lines you have won't be that weak at 0.51mm but maybe 0.61 or better mm thickness as copper was not that expensive last time.

Update on my bad experience with Daikin.

I bought 2 units of Daikin R32 Inverter 1HP FTKC at same time around year 2017 for different rooms.

On June 2020, 1 of this unit show error U2 and later L5 and the outdoor Inverter PCB was replaced.

Fast forward to current Aug 2020, another unit encounter the same problem, U2. This outdoor unit is fully hidden away from sun and rain.

Currently planning the take out the board for repair at Ingress, a PCB repair company instead of paying 600 plus for board and labor.

*-:': Daikin and ✓×π^{ Inverter.
*
L5 error code is very irritating, the unit will shut down itself.
My unit installed in Penang , Dec 2019.
By early 2021, unit start to have L5 error.
(Did not use the unit for a few months because of MCO lockdown in KL )
In actual operation time, definitely less than 1 year.

I wonder how many other people are experiencing similar issue with DAIKIN inverter AC for L5 error.
Installers would stay away from BRANDs which has frequent and common issue unit malfunction.

I cant see the connections between installers and lousy brands. They are paid per visit by either customers or manufacturers. The only reason I can think some are avoiding is because they have no experience to troubleshoot.

Many will still cont to buy unreliable brands because of price and the reason why it is still in the market.

Surveying cassette aircond for my living hall, developer provided 9.52/15.88 piping for the hall... the showroom was using 3HP, but I'm considering 2.5HP or 2HP cause I kinda "partition" the area a little bit so place is a bit smaller. But when I was comparing the 2HP and 2.5HP... the 2HP seems like very close to the 2.5HP peak power? but is cheaper and even more efficient. Am I missing some important info perhaps?

But comparing the specs here... looks like the Daikin 2.5HP is pretty underpowered vs. Mitsubishi's 2.5HP right...

Add Pana to the comparison. Their cassette btu rating also not bad.
Yes the stepping in aircon models are not linear..meaning not all the steps in the staircase are same height.

That's why if u wanna dig into it, easier to classify by 9k 12k 18k 24k 30k btu classes rather than so called 1.0 1.3 2.0 2.5 3.0 hp

Not all series of D are great performers. Same as buying 316i for the bimmer badge only.

FCF is the R32 inverter (the only brand I see offering R32 inverter for cassette), which I was thinking it should have better performance than the R410a inverters (Mitsubishi and Panasonic). But quite surprised with the figures... but I'm wondering if the BTU is a typo, cause the nominal and max is same figures.

Between Mitsubishi and Panasonic, gonna go with Mitsubishi for the price is much more competitive. The Panasonic R410a is even pricier than the Daikin sweat.gif

You mean when compared to the equivalent wall mount, the cassette mount takes up more electricity?

This type of Q is 'dangerous' without details of the place. A salesman will sell the highest spec.

Why Mitsubishi and not Daikin, Hisense, Pana, Sharp, Hitachi etc ?

Mitsubishi aircon has the easy cleaning features that I could clean the blower indoor unit easily unlike other brands aircon.
I have a panasonic aircon for nearly 5 years and self cleaning is not that easy compared with Mitsubishi.

There are many models for Mitsubishi aircon and I saw GR, JR and JS series seem okay, but not sure any brothers here have experience with them or not.
LN series is too expensive for my budget.
Thank you.

Other than cooling hp, other specs are only good in the manual or brochure.

I always buy basic model for ac. To me, cooling hp is paramount which is the purpose of AC.

For other features like air purifier, I prefer to buy a separate unit.

Agree. A/C is getting too fancy with all the features that most people don't even need or know.
