I collectively lump in Church culture and Church tradition to be almost the same thing.
For example, some Christians refuse to worship God in a building that doesn't look like a Church.
or that
Christian must have a certain kind of look and clothing or should only listen to hymns, modern contemporary are the works of the devil.
Because of Church traditions and culture, some Christians are willing to go as far as calling Hillsong Worship as the Babylonian Whore.
And this coming from Christians.
I know there's a American Chinese Pastor who wear Flip Flop on purpose and preach every Sunday just to prove this point.
The Problem with this is that it Hinders the Spirit of God to reach out to the Lost.
I'm willing to bet with you, if a Prostitute with Low Mini Skirt walks into a Tradition Church, All Eyes would be open wide in contempt and the feeling of uncomfortable and first reaction is to escort her out to stop from distracting Sunday Service when the Church SHOULD BE reaching out to them.
I seriously feel the Catholics and Some Protestant Church have this self righteous problem.
Sheesh. Christians have been judging since Biblical times. No surprise there.
Ah, same goes to the aunties that's in my Malaysian church before. My skirt was just knee length high and yet it deemed as "too sexy."
Go figure.

To each their own, like they said 'prevention is better than cure'
Yeah, they follow their Kosher diet seriously even when it comes to wine which they make it themselves.
I have not personally encountered or have Jewish friends so I based this on what I learned in college and facts.
Well, I have personally have some Jewish friends who are both strict and not so strict about Kosher diet....

I wouldn't comment further on your friends, because they're yours not mine. Just don't be harsh on them, because if they want to be assimilated, that's fine, it's not wrong.
If you fascinated with a specific accent, why not? It is normal when people find it objectively weird at first, but why would it be pretentious if yo love that accent and wishes to speak it? Is there a law or rule in stone that says you're not allowed to?
And if you have read my points carefully, it is common to feel fake at first because you're either new to the accent or language, but if you love saying it, pretentious isn't really the word if all you do are stopping people from doing what they love to do.
It's fake not because one doesn't keep it real. It's because people cannot accept that a person is capable of speaking many different accents and languages at the same time.
If anyone kept it real, it is your friends who can speak more than 1 languages, and including those who can speak in more than 1 accent.
That's right, because they are my friends, we know each other well. I was never harsh nor judgemental. What gave you the idea?
Of course there's no such laws. People just looked at you weird that's all.
How is it not pretentious when people are faking their accents?
I mean I get it if they acquire those "accents" over a period of time. One does not suddenly talk in a British accent after a few hours, let alone days.
Well, my friends does speak more than 1 language. BM and English. And English with an American accent.
Keeping it real indeed.
Is Cantonese and Hokkien considered as language? I think its dialect right?
