Hmm guys just wondering why you all recommending malsing maps? Is it really that good? Because so far, my experience with malsing maps is that it's not very complete...i wanna find wangsa maju also don't have lol. Using this year's version. Whereas mapking's map at least can find those major places, but those small roads not very accurate.

MSM never failed me.. i can find almost 80% road names in KL using street/address search.. not to mention POIs ... so many POIs till my PC got heavy to load the map in Mapsource.. proud to be VC thumbup.gif

The problem i highlighted in mypdacafe and malsingmaps is that 15% of the roads are labelled wrongly and are incorrect. i expected updated maps to not carry that mistake but it still does.
I saw 2 roads with 1/46. Which one is it ?

I LIVE IN PJU 1/46 and mah haus IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE. in either of both roads. if u want proof, ask me in the form of a pm.

@mikelanding - kindly remove your sarcasm if you dont know nothing. i've been with malsingmaps since they started.

There's no diff between the older maps and this one. Its still the same, road shows and none of the mistakes were ever corrected in your version.

the point is, you do not recommend someone an inaccurate map. Using it yourself is fine, but to a newbie or someone else, you recommend the original garmin map which is 100% accurate but still incomplete. I've never asked any of my friends to install malsing unless or until they find the original garmin map provided as insufficient. I've spoken to Lim from malsingmaps and he's also highlighted this to his other members. Rectifying and proofreading takes time. So please, if u ever do recommend someone to use malsingmap, please add the disclaimer as a notice !

referred to the snapshot above, i can say there is only one PJU 1/46 .. because the search result shows only one PJU 1/46... it just the road is longer than other road (PJU 1/46a , 1/46b etc) ...

and for personal use, i don't mind if it shows two PJU 1/46 as long i know approximately where the road is.. its better than two results , one PJU 1/46 in Petaling Jaya, and another one in Setapak.. that surely will confuse u..

i agree when u say there are a lot of errors.. and sometimes we don't see any difference on the next released version on errors reported but considering its a totally FREE MAP, its an outstanding superb map with thousands of POIs n address search for the whole Peninsula and Borneo as well... in fact its much better than never-complete official Garmin map..

this is only personal review.. i'm not interested to drag this argument as the issue is very subjective.. as u know MSM is a free-non-paid map.. its nothing to lose smile.gif

Have a nice day

its not an argument i'm trying to stir, but its rather the indication. When you recommend something to someone, please make it aware of their faults, their disclaimers as well.

As a community we stick together to provide the best solutions to others. Meanwhile we also do warn about the clauses or at the very least notify others of what cons there are. This is what a community is. Its to share all information whether good or bad. So to those who intend to use malsingmaps please be aware of a couple of things. you may read it all in their disclaimer section......

These maps are not endorsed by Garmin or Mapking. We provide no warranty and bear no responsibility for any damage or loss due to any consequence of using of these maps. Use at your own risk!

This notice can be found here : http://www.malsingmaps.com/portal/downloads.php

So to those newbies who have their garmins made available to them, ONLY switch to malsing if u yourself find that the garmin map provided is totally insuficient or unreliable.
I have always believed in buying the original, and only when the original fails to your expectations, tweaks and mods or other alternatives should be seeked. Malsingmaps have been one of the top optionals for me.

Ermmm, Garmin Nuvi is around RM 850 if i'm not mistaken.
It connect to sattelite via chips and circuit boards unless you want more details into what chipsets they're using.

so there u have it, the price of the standalone unit is the only thing u pay for beside the maps of the world and some other tweaks and addons.
Btw you can change the voices for a fee.

According to some site i visit it had a built-in GPS chip. Perhaps you don't have the right software for navigation. Software preloaded with the phone may be for map viewer only.

You can google for navigation software suitable for your phone. Anyway which OS your phone use?

go to 'where to' then 'coordinates'.......... then key in the coordinates.... values will be based on N/E as you stated above.
gmxt version 4 and 5 as well as nuvi all same.
