i use garmin on my atom life. Previously i used Mapking2007. But i found that the recalculation of road after I drive to the wrong place in garmin mobile XT is much slower than Mapking 2007 where in Mapking, it will show me the new road immediately after I drive wrong way. Any way to improve this??

googlemaps on gps...will incur charges
if not you can try when you have free wifi available

or...use it while your on activesync (i just tested), it will use your home's modem connection (streamyx or etc),
it won't connect via GPRS/3G

Tools>gps settings>baudrate

Since u are able to pick up data stream, your com port is correct. Just try varying different baudrates.
While testing, make sure u are out in the open!  smile.gif

I can't seem to find the baudrate. I went to the Tools in Mapking 2007, click on GPS Settings but there were no baudrate listed there.

Slow GPS connection or slow getting GPS Fix. One thing you need to remember if you didn't turn on your GPS for a long time for sure it will take longer time to get GPS Fix, I remember there is term called Cold Start ,Warm Start and Hot Start

Thanks guys. I've finally found the baudrate settings. I was looking at the wrong place (under Settings). Anyway, I've attached some screenshots to show my current GPS settings when I switch it on. When I change the GPS Setting to Auto-Detect, just like in Baronic's screenshots, still nothing. In Tools, when I click on Search GPS, it says that GPS Found! But when I switch to map mode, it doesn't detect where I am now. And the GPS signal bar shows a question mark (?) instead of the signal bars.

I haven't turned on my GPS for a few weeks already. The longest I waited was almost 20 minutes. Even for Cold Start, I dont think it should be that long, right?

with a BT gps...its easier can keep in the car
and i think as a stand alone, its receiver should be more powerful than built in pda?

but need an adapter (2 socket) to charge the gps 2gether with the pda right?

Powerful or not it depends on where you locate your device. Even standalone GPS cannot be used in the heavy tinted car... Get an external antenna will hep you device getting better reception.

For in car charging, most of the BT GPS battery can stands for a long time usage. Through my experience, most of the time PDA need to be recharge since you are using it for another purpose too...
