I have a bunch of frens doing ACCA in Kasturi. From what they told me, you would have to get there 1 hour before so that you can get good seats! Too crowded with too many people. =P Lets hope the CFA one wont have to do that as well.

Called and spoke to Ms. Ann (i think she is d person in charge of CFA). Very patient in explaining the matter to me =) From what I gather, besides Classes, they provide 3 mock exams, and a lot of Questions from Schweser Pro Question Bank for students.
More than 3000 questions! shocking.gif
Student sure do until damn familiar with the questions wer!!!

Heard that they provide good muffins as well drool.gif Muffins for class??!!!

Added on October 9, 2011, 4:23 pmThe Investment Industry Career Panel is basically them getting a group of industry related people to talk what the industry is about (very specifically.) e.g. what the buy side and sell side is about...

sounds interesting for those who do not know what to expect if they are planning to go into the industry (newbie).

Hi, the entry requirement for cfa must be at least final year of a degree... what if I'm an ACCA student? Does it means I can take cfa during part 2 of my acca?

No, you are not qualified to sit for the CFA exam with ACCA part 2, unless you have 4-year professional working experience.

i thought finishing ACCA would be equivalent to a degree?

might as well do the OBU then as a degree?

ben i suggest u ask ur program course director on this, or those in charge of the cfa provider. They might know more

As far to what I know, ACCA part 2 is not considered as the final year of university degree. Anyway, I stand to be corrected, it's better for those who may concern to inquire the CFA Institute directly.

I believe ACCA Part 2 is equivalent to a final year degree. My friend asked CFA about it last time.

Equivalent or not, I don't think you will be able to manage the amount of stress studying both ACCA and CFA at the same time, especially when you are not even in your final papers of ACCA.

That being said, even if you did pass Level 1, you can't take Level 2 until you have obtained your OBU. So if you decide to skip OBU but still take Level 1, then it might prove to be pointless as you will then need 4 years of experience.

does that mean that with an ACCA alone, it isn't considered a "degree" that is required to continue level 2 cfa and have to obtain 4 years of experience before continuing?

doesn't seem to make alot of sense here ><

What is OBU?

Now I know ACCA part 2 equivalent to final year degree. Anyway, without passing all ACCA exams mean the candidate is not a degree graduate yet, then he will be barred from further proceed for CFA Level II exam even he had passed Level I.

ACCA is never a degree. It's just a qualification. You don't pay up your membership fee, *poof*, all gone, your education and everything with it.

I believe ACCA Part 2 is considered a final year degree because upon completion of Part 2, you are eligible to do a thesis to obtain a BSc. Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University (thus the name OBU).

Have you been reading my post earlier?

ACCA is just a professional qualification, not a degree. This may be due to the fact that ACCA does not follow the conventional education route, ie. degree > professional qualification (especially those from CAT > ACCA route), and therefore would assume that anyone taking CFA would already have a degree in hand.

Maybe if you would explain your circumstances with the CFA officials, they would understand the situation better and thus recognise ACCA as a post-degree qualification or something.

That being said, from what I have noticed in the registration section of CFA Institute website, you don't need any documentation whatsoever to register yourself for Level 1. Not so sure about Level 2, but I doubt it will be much difference. Maybe they are only strict when it comes to applying membership, by that time, you would already have more than 4 years experience.

I believe it's more of bending the rules if you don't opt for OBU later on.

Like I said, CFA are surprisingly not strict about registering for Level 1 (not sure about Level 2 or 3), you only need to enter your degree name and institution and there are no verifications whatsoever. Membership on the other hand should be stricter.

better confirm with cfa insitute about it. imagine passing all 3 levels and cfa refuse to award him the charter in the future.
