Hey guys,

Recently I have been hearing a lot of good things about Noesis in offering the CFA programme.

Besides normal classes, i heard they are offering career advice as well some personal development courses.

Found this link about the Investment Industry Career Panel and CFA Workshop - https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=199873776747458

sounds interesting. Is it worth going? Of course will consider taking up the programme with them.

I have a bunch of frens doing ACCA in Kasturi. From what they told me, you would have to get there 1 hour before so that you can get good seats! Too crowded with too many people. =P Lets hope the CFA one wont have to do that as well.

Called and spoke to Ms. Ann (i think she is d person in charge of CFA). Very patient in explaining the matter to me =) From what I gather, besides Classes, they provide 3 mock exams, and a lot of Questions from Schweser Pro Question Bank for students.
More than 3000 questions! shocking.gif
Student sure do until damn familiar with the questions wer!!!

Heard that they provide good muffins as well drool.gif Muffins for class??!!!

Added on October 9, 2011, 4:23 pmThe Investment Industry Career Panel is basically them getting a group of industry related people to talk what the industry is about (very specifically.) e.g. what the buy side and sell side is about...

sounds interesting for those who do not know what to expect if they are planning to go into the industry (newbie).

I went to the career talk that Noesis has organised as well. Its kinda impressive and surprisingly there was a big crowd. I guess more and more people are getting interested in CFA.

I have a feeling that Noesis has good ties with the people in the industry. Seeing that they invited these people from CIMB and ECM Libra shows that. And I actually like the idea that they offer the foundation class for those who didnt do a degree in business. smile.gif

I think I will join their class and sit for the June '12 exam.

p.s. did anyone add them on Facebook? they are saying there are only 7 spaces left. Wonder how true is that?

I think scoring >70 for L3 is close to impossible (Of course, this is not taking into consideration the geniuses). However, I think it is something that is good to look into. If you have the mentality of wanting to score >70, it will somehow push you to work harder. And that ounce of Motivation may be the difference between passing and failing.

Anyways, do hope that I can get >70 for the coming level 1. I will be sitting it in June 2012. =)

Thanks for the heads up. I'm still trying to accommodate studies after work. Found a few colleagues of mine who are doing level 3 as well so maybe we could organise a study session after in the office.
Yeah I did take both level 1 & 2 at Sunway. We have relatively high passing rate as well. Tho I couldn't give you the exact percentage but we could definitely rival that of Noesis. The classes are pretty small, with a group of 10-20 and most are very engaging. Sunway provides a university environment and you can definitely have a good 'campus' feel here. With regards to the trainer, they are definitely willing to guide you provided that you take the initiative as they are busy with the careers as well.

But TBH, I think Noesis has a better admin support in terms of your preference of being helpful.

Hey guys, great thread. I too am considering CFA Level 1. And didn't expect Lowyat forum to be such a great source.

hey Aaron, did you also attempted ACCA in Sunway? I enquired their CFA course when they have just started and they mentioned to me majority of their students are Sunway ACCA graduate, is that right?
I heard CFA Sunway is run by a company namely AB Maximus which is not an approved prep provider (or at least I did not find their name at the CFA Institute website). I was kinda reluctant when I get to know about this because I have a friend who signed up their Level I program in the past, they ended up did not conduct any classes but managed to sell their products which is not very professional of them.

How was the lecturer? I heard there were many imported lecturers, but I heard its only for the 1st intake and they are now using locals. (Would be great if someone could clarify. I think lecturers are the main factors of choosing tuition centre).

I also saw Noesis has a new deal - RM3800 for weekday option students. I heard from the phone - 120+ hrs of face to face classes. Maybe I can consider if my boss doesnt force me to OT . everything else seems to be the same than Noesis's other package. (RM5,500 is probably for flexible schedule.)
