QUOTE(sofspy @ Nov 23 2008, 03:24 PM) ....its amazing how people cant post nonsense and yet plan to take it?? To take your level 1 exam you have to be at least in your final year of degree To qualify for your chartered you need pass all 3 levels, join the CFA society, get 2 sponsors and 4 years of relevant working experience. Lastly, CFA is actually a course which is more gear towards portfolio management/asset management at the later levels. So unless you intend to be a fund manager there is really no requirement to take this course... nonsense? mind to point em out? this is a discussion anyway

Hi there,
Can I have a lowdown on Kasturi College?
How is the CFA classroom environment and the lecturers there?
How are their notes and do they use any Schweser or Stalla supplementaries?
Appreciate if any Kasturi student can state the full pros and cons.
Thanks!

cfa needed a degree to proceed how about some people got a mba but no degree (those who enrol mba thru years of working experience) can they take cfa? is mba really useless if taken with abc university rather than the well known U? This post has been edited by quintesson: Dec 28 2008, 02:26 AM

It's the accreditations and worldwide recognitions that count. Look for AT LEAST an AMBA accredited mba. Triple accredited MBA would be excellent. MBA is a masters degree. So no worries. When you sign up you get one free sample exam. For my level 1 i borrowed my friends exam notes from Kasturi...and actually it was pretty irrelevant they focus so much on calculation and level 1 was pretty much basics and theory. But pls dun let me discourage you from taking their notes because the best confidence reliever is to redo exam notes again and again.
Also, you can get Shwesser And Stella exam notes online but you have to pay..there are a few website which also offers at a lower price just try to google it.

Well i am not sure if test centre remains the same but as of the last two years it was held at Sunway Covention Centre, and nope CFA program is not affiliated with any colleges. Some education centres might offer programs specifically on CFA but CFAI is not tied to any of them, reason being to avoid being seen as bias.

are ok so textbooks are enough? but i heard that the textbooks are pretty thick and some rely on the schweser notes alone? is that possible, to just rely on schweser?

I recently came across an instituition in M'sia that provides MBA + CFA combo. Means that u take both courses concurrently in the 3 years time - 1st CFA Level 1 + some MBA modules... til year 3 with CFA level 3. fees around MYR 50K excl CFA registration fee + exam fees...
i personally think it's quite a good choice where u kill 2 birds with 1 stone? the only catch is that you need to have 5 years of working experience in order to enroll, in which, for those graduates that have 2-3 years of working experience... is a bit big downturn.
wht do u guys think? worth pursuing?
