I passed my level 1 (self study). I plan on continuing my Level 2 but i heard it was way tougher. i'm currently working, quite occupied.

hi, is it advisable for a science graduate to learn CFA as a preparation to be involved in finance line later? would it be tough to learn CPA from scratch?

Noob question: I'm seriously considering CFA as i am really interested in finance. However, one thing comes to mind though, what is the real benefit of obtaining this accreditation? will your salary triple? double? Are demands in the job market for CFA holders really high? Basically what are your personal reasons for obtaining this accreditation besides to just have it on your namecard?

and is CFA really in demand locally (as in in malaysia)

thanks biggrin.gif

most chief investment officer has this qualification

cfa is vital for analysts....and since the course is challenging, it can help you build your analytical skills....

Anyway to answer your question in a develop country you might double your pay but not in Malaysia.

And yes if you have a CFA you do not have to job hunt, people will headhunt you because to get a CFA you need 4 years relevant exp so it shows that you have both the practical and exp. The real benefit of doing the CFA is that you will broaden your opportunities....that is all if your already on top of your corporate ladder dont waste your time....just go for a MBA or something...CFA is very much technical base and is just meant to prove to people that you know your shit..

in any case i failed level 2 this year sadly...so if there are any level 2 people there doing next year do keep in ctc because we definitely need motivation to study!

Technical base? I thought CFA is more to fundamental analysis?

If you are looking for technical analysis cert then I think CMT suits you more than CFA. biggrin.gif

Anyone has CFA Level 2 Kasturi Notes & Mock exams to be sold?

Please advice whether is it do-able to self study for CFA Level 2? I did it for Level 1.

Planning to enroll for June 2010 level 2.

Thx

what i meant was CFA is very specialised in its field and yes it is more fundamental rather than technical research....

waliaowe - CFA level 2 is definitely harder, i failed last year and it was through self-study..i guess it depends on the person but perhaps i was overconfident since i pass level 1 with ease..

Hey guys, is CFA level 1 really that easy? I mean seems like lots of people here study the level 1 paper on their own without going for tuition.
