Just got the white box after so long. While I use Raspberry Pi for my general Kodi consumption, suddenly need a kodi box for one TV room.
Thoughts on Kodi + huawei ec6108v8:
> need to downgrade the box. Simple operation - press power button quickly during boot to enter recovery, enter 304830 as password, restore from backup (I think "new" boxes are just old boxes or returned boxes being reused), remove/block the system update url, and finally update google play& google service.
> kodi 16.1 is unstable on old Android 4.4 boxes, always always use SPMC for better compatibility (only after updating google play & services)
> Best File Manager: File Commander - File Manager
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...s.fileman&hl=en> To get around the limited space available on the box, can use the back USB port to plug in a USB 3.0 drive (like 16GB for instance, the faster the better, no need big space drive), note the location (eg. /mnt/sda/sda1 maybe), and follow this tutorial
https://github.com/koying/SPMC/wiki/How-to-...of-SPMC-data%3FCODE
SPMC supports a backdoor to specify the location of your SPMC/XBMC data.
To do so, create a file name spmc_env.properties in the root of your external storage (normally, "/sdcard"). Its content is simply:
xbmc.data=<path to the xbmc data root>
e.g. xbmc.data=/storage/sdcard0/external_sdcard/xbmc_data
Inside this, a directory ".spmc" will be created which contain the well-known xbmc/kodi structure ("addons", "userdata", ...).
Currently, the specified path must be an android one, i.e. no "smb://" or "nfs://", but you can specify any directory mounted on the android FS, including samba or NFS ones.
Note that the standard Kodi xbmc_env.properties is also supported. If spmc_env.properties is not found, SPMC will look for xbmc_env.properties as a fallback.
> Exodus/Indigo is down for few days/a week now. for now use the cazwall repo instead of the normal fusion repo (google it yourself) for your Indigo/Zen/Exodus/SportsDevil update/installation.
> There is a way to swap internal storage and external usb drive (so apps will be installed in external usb drive as "internal sdcard folder", and android thinks internal storage is external usb drive). But I haven't test this method on this device YET. now focusing on kodi/SPMC functionality.
