First this 43" is Wide 16:9 aspect ratio not 21:9 Ultrawide or 32:9 Super Ultrawide.

2nd this 43" version is using old generation of VA panel with very low 400 local dimming zone only. It is not a good monitor like the 32" version.
This model having issue like black smearing, slow respond, so so HDR performance and etc. Highly not recommended.

Review here

Thank you so much for the insight and clarification. I didn't expect this to be categorized as wide instead of ultra wide. I still got so much to learn about monitor.

I didn't expect monitor to be so many things and so complex. It's just a monitor, now I know got VA Panel, IPS and the new OLED. Thank you to all the information share here. I have been try searching around this thread too . Thank you again notworthy.gif

Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is RM 6.5k official (now around RM 6k can get) and this monitor got scan line issue when set as 240hz. The HDR performance is good.

Another lower model Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 wise is RM 5.5k official (now around 4.8k can get). This one HDR also good but it is only 165hz, good thing is they is no scan line issue.

Both is premium monitor with 1000+ Local Dimming Zone with mini-LED in VA. Both basically no ghosting issue, no black smearing and very fast respond time with HDR 1000 capable.  The cons is both is bad viewing angle which is the characteristic of VA panel.

Bring back this topic to ultra wide monitor thread. Mh apology for causing the thread derailment

Scan line issue, I needed to Google it. I believe it is something like one of the user reported on his Dell monitor where there is a line at the screen?

And I am sorry, I suppose to meant Samsung odyssey neo G7 instead of G8, which is the more affordable 4k gaming monitor according to the rting

Glad to know there is no issue on G7, And for prove of RM 4800 for a 2022 premium monitor, I believe is acceptable. But I will only be buying it at year end, hopefully year end got some promo

If you can spend that amount, I recommended you look for OLED display.

The scan line issue is color with lines, especially obvious in blue color and Microsoft Edge logo.

I use a lot for office works aka productivity. OLED has burn in issue when use for long period of time. Majority of my works are happening on a static screen, so long term, may not be a good thing to use OLED screen.

Ahhh i see. So if you look at the logo, you will see lines... my goodness. A bit sigh when they can't produce a good display despite selling at that price point. Especially I saw quadcube's monitor bleeding from a premium monitor. sad.gif

You used productivity a lot, then I should tell you VA screen is still slightly dirty and local dimming should be off as local dimming will have hallow effect which very irritating to look at it. The only real success mini-LED is Apple did at MacBook Pro 2023 which have 2010 local dimming zone with 8040 mini-LED for it 14" version.

I already sell all my Mini-LED in VA and change to OLED, my only long experience is LG C9 which purchased in year 2020, so far no single burn-in but do have dead pixel at top right corner, even that, I still decide change my both monitor to OLED. 😅

I am not sure what does slightly dirty means in this context. I googled it, the result is teaching me how to clean my monitor screen. laugh.gif

Will take note on the local dimming should be off, but if i turn of local dimming, it will impact the gaming experience or movie experience right?

ahh i see. Good to know about that, because I plan to use it with my Macbook Pro too, so my next question is, is it possible to connect 1 single monitor with 2 different laptop? 1 windows laptop and 1 macbook, then both laptops can use the monitor seamlessly. Because I knew there's a software my friend were using where he can move his mouse across the screen from his laptop A to external monitor then to laptop B seamlessly. Just that both of his laptops are Windows OS.

Haha, maybe for your use-case, it is far better to use OLED, since it is the best in its class right now for monitor. And I knew you changes monitors every few years. Me on the other hand do not plan to change monitor that often, so I am looking for a more long term...hence I got worry with the OLED burn in, afterall, we are talking about monitor that cost RM 5k to 7k

I mean the screen uniformity; it is noticeable at Windows 11 Dark themes settings. I owned before Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 and also Neo G9 and something is still keep bothering me, VA is still VA, it is not the cleanness screen and viewing angle is still as usual not good. You mainly use for productivity, you should really go and see yourself before place order. I suggest if don't want OLED, at least go for IPS.

Yes, possible, I did not use software to move in between, I choose KVM switch, so I press a button to switch the mouse and keyboard. I did not use KVM display output as my KVM output not support 4K 120hz or 5120x1440 240hz.

For cross in between MacOS and Windows, all need purchase as they is no free version, unless you buy Logitech MX keyboard and mouse, where the Logitech software had such function and it is cross in between MacOS and Windows. For Windows only, you can either use PowerToys - Mouse without Border or Mouse without Border standalone apps itself, this apps are free and can cross in between Windows.

This is a really good suggestion, i shall really go see it myself since it is not a cheap order. Normally Harvey Norman will have display unit? Because I don't remember Samsung experience store showcasing their monitors.

In that case, if wanna go for IPS with 4K as requirement, so far I found these 2:
Samsung Odyssey G7 S28BG700EP 28´´ 4K IPS LED 144Hz Gaming Monitor
LG 32-inch UltraGear QHD Nano IPS with ATW 1ms 240Hz HDR 600 Monitor with G-SYNC Compatible (32GQ850-B)

And wow, you can read my mind, you knew what I was going to ask... i will look into the KVM switch, but I indeed plan to buy MX mouse, not sure the keyboard worth the price as the mouse or not. And good recommendation on the PowerToys software recommendations, it was indeed useful.

But eh, why did you deleted the HDMI cable, that information is extremely useful since I plan to connect to my windows and also macbook at the same monitor together, so the monitor can switch screen depending on how I use it, either extended display for windows or extended display for macbook.

Andrew, thank you so much for been my foundation to move towards to Ultrawide monitor notworthy.gif

Normally Harvey Norman and TMT will have some demo set to see.

Samsung experience store to me only show mobile. 😅

Oh I delete the HDMI information as I think it is not related. 😅
In summary, for MacBook Pro to get 120hz or more, you need to have M2 Pro version as only M2 Pro and above support 120hz and more.
For Windows wise, shouldn't have issue for PC, if laptop, then you should check whether it came with HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4 or Thunderbolt 4 with display support.

For not gaming, Logitech MX series keyboards is pretty solid, the mouse wise I still find the gaming series better but gaming series not support the switching feature.

Macbook itself only M2 Pro and above support higher refresh rate., for M2 and below, then only support up to 60hz, normatter what cable you use, as it is due to the M2 chipset limitation.

Ya a usb c monitor in my budget seems rather limited. Maybe i really should expand to non usb c monitor, thanks for all the recommendations.
Maybe 1 last thing. From your experience with huge monitor, is curve monitor better for my usage? 34" is quite wide, just dunno the distortion near the edge is very bad?
My usage would be sitting right in front monitor typing and coding.

So what monitor you ended up getting?
