I just realized that most 34" monitors eg Acer X34/Z35 will take up 300mm of my table depth and investing in one will not leave me with much room for comfortable operation of the keyboard rclxub.gif Options are:

1. Live with the fact
2. Change tabletop (my existing is a custom made, built-in). This would involve a fair amount of "renovation" doh.gif
3. Replace with custom VESA monitor stand
4. Get a wall mount with articulating arm (did I use the term correctly?). Down side to this is less "mobility" compared to #3 above

Both #3 and #4 above will more or less maintain the status quo ie take up 150-180 mm ,which is more or less my current setup.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I managed to locate a company that carries custom monitor stands and have a decent selection of wall mounts called Antsys. Am sure a visit to shops like AllIT or Harvey Norman may offer up some choices too

Waiting to be picked up from Singapore.

Asus Republic of Gamers Swift PG348Q 3440 x 1440 Ultrawide 100Hz G-Sync monitor.

Will need to redo that Ekby DIY shelf-cum-tier from Ikea so that it supports wider leg footprint for the PG348.

1080Ti/Titan Pascal or bust. I might even go single card if it can sustain 4K60.

I'm waiting to see if anything interesting is revealed/launched during next week's Computex. If nothing, may pull the trigger for X34 or maybe wait for X34A. The latter is just with stand that has swivel feature.

I've been waiting to pull the trigger for my first UW monitor as well. Was initially interested with the X34 but the back glossy plastic and the OSD controls turn me off. Then had hope when Asus introduced the PG348Q, but sadly still not officially available in Malaysia. Importing from overseas is a no no since I don't really trust the QC of both Asus and Acer in their monitors. laugh.gif

Now waiting for the Acer Z1 series. Obviously a downgrade in reso compared to X34 but hopefully comes with cheaper price.

My predicament is quite similar to yours ie X34/PG348Q and then Acer announced/previewed their Z1 series. On the X34, am not bothered with the glossy back finish as I nor anyone else won't see it given how my setup is oriented. As for the OSD controls, it's not something I expect to meddle with regularly hence, I should be able to overlook this.

While the Z1 series is an "improved" Z35, thinner bezel and better OSD controls, the 1080p was a put off not to mention the VA panel.

As I don't expect to change my monitors as regularly as I would with GPU sad.gif getting a 1440p to me becomes more logical an option. Additionally, color from an IPS panel is just so much more "vivid".

Just sharing my self thought processes....

Me too, thinking whether to pull trigger on x34 or pg348q. Some says dell u3415w has better build quality and qc, and the matt panel doesnt look so dull. I think its time for most us to move to qhd.

x34 or pg348q panel matt coating looks dull, seen with my own eyes. Hmmp. hope it can be a little glossier say 20%-30% so it can looks better. But not totally glossy, I hate reflection.

Agreed with you as well. It's just that, too many reports on the panel used on X34 being either has backlight bleeding or bad IPS glow. scared of buying it and find out mine has those issues, plus the asking price is rather on steeper side for such issues to exist out of the box.

Wish Dell or Samsung could just get into the game and produce UW Gsync monitors coz I rather trust these two than Asus and Acer biggrin.gif

Agree biggrin.gif . I'm still waiting for a better out of the box monitor from Samsung or Dell with similar spec as X34 or better.

Actually, I am secretly hoping nothing new or exciting related to gaming monitors are announced during Computex. This way, I can just pull the trigger for an X34 without much guilt nor remorse
