Samsung S6 Edge else u can grab LG G4 from Direct D , which cost you same price as S6 Edge RRP, 3099 IMO

and i think u just go youtube to find MKBHD's LG G4 Review for your req.

Zen2-power hunger, fast GPU and I/O mark not bad..

and Zen 5 4G best fits.. but why wonder that not going for RedMi note 4G? even i tested my sis RM Note 4G kicks with my Maxis number works well

Very hard to go for non-China phones only, I would go with either Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE500CL), Huawei Honor 3X G750 or Lenovo A936/Golden Warrior Note 8

ah well *grabbing popcorns intensify* for user complaining the poor battery life..

We dont have a lot of good options maa with that small budget..
Of course u gonna face poor battery life but u get what u paid for..

Other phones also got pros n cons, therefore it is up to buyer to choose which spec to sacrifice and which spec is more important..

Anyway, if i choose to buy zf2, i ll rather add another 100 to jump for zenfone 2 z550ml model..
Z550cl spec is too mehh..

hello you kind folks. sorry to trouble you people again. can you help me here?

I initially PM ed a few forumers, as well as posting in few threads, but right now I'm in this situation where picking up a phone isn't a no brainer at the moment

I'm looking for phones that meet these criteria,

a) qualcomm processor
b) 3GB RAM
c) 16GB minimum storage
d) can be rooted /flashed with custom ROMs, with xposed framework support
e) rm1300 circa

for some reason or another the phone I shortlisted wasn't to be found, so finally I did some comparisons again and found the list grew. butt again these are not easily found phones


1) oneplus one
2) LG G Pro 2
3) LG G3
4) Samsung galaxy note 3 (can get at rm1300????)




as you can see I listed these 3 phones, and I'm leaning towards the lg g pro 2, because of its 5.9 inch screen size (yes I'm a sucker for big screen sizes because I use android devices to read manga consume visual media )

but I also need some advice as to how good the GPS are since I play Ingress and I want to pick the game up again .

as for the note 3 I'm not too keen on the abysmal UI and rooting or installing custom ROM voids the warranty so badly you don't have second chances at it.


any advice?

Good headache to have. I'm currently using LG G Pro 2 and the GPS works very well. Can lock very fast using Waze, but Ingress not so sure.

More choices actually for that kind of budget & requirements, you can also consider Sony Xperia Z2 and Xiaomi Mi 4. But I will go with OnePlus One if you are on the modding path.

hi there thanks. will add the two phones and xiaomi Mi note pro into the list, but then again some of the phones are on different price bracket and so it remains to be seen how good they are for the price.


right now it seems that the oppo find 7 is the better oneplus one, sans the firmware, but then again for the price (rm1700?) there are other options such as the LG g3.

price point aside I'm still open to ideas. still got a few days left before I book one online or go to the shops that I trust to get a unit .



by the way, since you use the LG g pro2, how's the modding scene? I'm probably heading towards cyanogenmod with xposed framework. this frankenstein setup had served me very well in the past, and I wonder if this is the same for the lg g2 pro.

I dont think note 3 is below 1.3k at the moment.. But if u r ok with secondhand unit, u can get it at 1k..

Since u really like rooting and rom, u better go for a famous device just like one plus one note 3 g3.. Not sure about xposed framework, but usually if there is a lot of users, there will be good dev for it including xposed modding..

Oppo is too expensive for a chinese phone.. And the spec is the same as one plus one.. I dony think oppo get good development as one plus one. Better go for OPO, u can save almost 500..

Have to agree about the ridiculous pricing of OPPO. Now there is VIVO but the price is tad ridiculous too. Will check if LG G3 have the ability for combined storage, or else it's the 1+1 despite the camera without +OIS.

I see. Then i think Zenfone 5 is the best option at the moment, provided that i dont need the 4G version.

it seems that there are very limited option by slashing out those China phone.
I am currently using Huawei Honor 4X but i had few problem last time when using China phone.
Its not so big problem or any major defect for me, but considering this phone is for my parent, i think i need to give them some "trouble-less" phone.

Last history for China phone is below:
1) Huawei Honor 3C - used for few months and screen not responsive. Exchange with new one within a week.
2) Redmi Note - Keyboard/Screen not responsive and occasionally restart.
3) Huawei Honor 3C Lite - damn lag
4) Huawei Honor 4X - sometimes touch sensor slightly delay

but as i mentioned, this is small issue that happen sometimes and i can bear with it.
But i dont think my parent will know how to reset a phone when there is an issue come out

anyway, Zenfone 2 is one of my eye list.
But looking at the spec, probably i would chose model ZE550ML due to less screen pixel density and higher battery capacity, so that it can compensate with the battery lifetime.
the 500CL battery is too small and other model 551ML have higher pixel density that can eat the battery more.

but need to pump out more cash

1. Brand: any

2. Budget: below 1k (over wee-bit also ok)

3. Specs: currently using Sony Xperia S for almost 3 years, looking for phone spec equivalent or higher (if any) than it

4. What you need in the phone: good camera, preferably big screen 4" and above

well actually, i haven't even rooted my G Pro 2, still virgin.

if you can go up to RM699, then Huawei Honor 4X is a very good choice.


Huawei Honor 6 for RM949 which has 13MP-5MP or go for Sony Xperia Z1 Compact for RM985 which has 20.7MP-2MP. If you prefer smallish screen, then the Z1 Compact is good to go.


if you can stretch just a little bit to RM1199, then Meizu MX4 for has a larger screen, 20.7MP-2MP camera, octa-core processor and 3100 mAh battery would do you good.

Honor 6, Mi3 (If u still able to find a new one or second hand), Meizu MX4 (gud camera)
